No Disney…Someone Backs into the Car…So We are going to DISNEY Pre-Trip Report - Page 7 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Take.....a......breath..............Ok, let it out. All will be fine, all will be fine, all will be fine.
I am with Collensfamily...Muphys law if something is going to go wrong it will be with us. I think that we are the only family that can go to Disney and everyone of us get sick or hurt one way or another at least twice on the trip.

This is nothing...at least this year I had 3 days off work. I work 226 days strate and then have 4 1/2 months off. Monday i will have been doing this for 10 years and starting the 11th year. It is a good trade off I guess. It is just nights like tonight that it is like okay do i really have to be here because in the last 2 hours I have seen 2 cars go by, one just someone going by and one was a cop car. Now I will not see another car go by until 4 am when my sister drives by.
Well still screaming...no answer yet about the added week of work. My boss #3 said the choice would be made by Friday. Boss #1 is saying that it can be worked with about me not being here the last 2 nights that we would be open. Boss #2 said no because only me, him and boss #3 know how to do the paper work and he was not pulling a double. Boss #3 said he did not care because Halloween is not big deal to him.
I told boss #1 that they should have come up with this bright idea back in July before air, wishes buffet tickets and MNSSHP tickets were gotten and then we would have moved days around. Her reply was well you know how we are around here...last mintue choices made and also well if you did not go to disney every year. The second part she was joking about. they know that I take one BIG trip every year and it is to Disney. Really the people i work with think that i am crazy. They dont understand how you will know where you will want to eat 3-6 months before you are going to eat. How do you know what you are going to do and such before you even get there. Lets just say these people are ones that get a bright idea to go some where today and go in 3 days. Then they come back and say well it was nice but we did not do this or that.
One day people around here will take the lead from me and let me plan their trips any where they are going. It is like this we me an planing any where...I get the information and tuck it away and make notes in a book about things that I want to see and do. Then when it is time to book things then I pull the stuff out and say okay this is what we are going to do. I have the next 5 non-Disney trips planed out and it is not even time to go on them.
Here's to hoping all your bosses come to their senses and let you start the trip when you've been planning to!
(Where are your other trips? We're thinking Wash DC/Williamsburg, Grand Canyon, and Yellowstone.)

Here's to hoping all your bosses come to their senses and let you start the trip when you've been planning to!
(Where are your other trips? We're thinking Wash DC/Williamsburg, Grand Canyon, and Yellowstone.)
Well lets see about the other trips.
Trip #1- SC-I finally got my storage bin cleaned out after having it for 10 years of all its junk! Because I decided that I was going to trash 90% of the stuff just to get rid of it I have a cusin that is going to buy all my NKOTB stuff from me. It is too much stuff to mail so I have to take a trip down there...chaching for Disney trip next year!!!
Trip #2-Baltimore-Have to go to a wedding on Jan 2nd.
Trip #3-Dallas-I will be here for a month. My cusins hubby has to go home to Nepal and he wants me to come stay with them. So they will pay the air fair for me to come out and all. The down side dealing with the one twin that is the devil in a costume. The up side...trip to OK for the slots, get to go to South Fork again, going to San Antonio, they have some good bakreys from other countrys out there, and I get to see a friend that lives out there that I have not seen in like 3 years. Oh and did I forget to say that I get so fresh made naan and Gulab Jamun??
Trip #4-Disney #2-If I can get enought money together to do a 4 day weekend down I am going to try to go for my sisters b-day. The down side to that one is that the b-day is also the weekend of the Daytona 500!!
Then all the trips depend on when i have to come back to work. The rumor mill is working over time right now that the one lady will not be back next year and if that is the case then I will be back in Feb to take reservations. So most of them is a hold on and see thing.
So this is the check off list for the last 35 days left before we leave.
Work 33 more shifts at work (dont try to figure that out...you will make your head hurt if you try)- Deal with family for their annual trip down- Host a party- Pack for my DSis and 2 DNephews- Whatever else gets tossed at me- (that has been done more times then once, in the 2 last month!) Make key chains for Disney- Make a new check list- I really Give this one up!!
NEW THINGS THAT WERE ADDED: Host a 2nd party Get trip forms filled out for boys Bake and decorate 3 cakes for a bake sale Maybe work another 5 1/2 shifts at work
Well somethings are going down on the list. Still no word about the extra week of work. Hope they find out soon. But a sitting and hopeing I am a doing.
On to the other stuff...I have been following Collinsfamily PTR because they are going about the same time as me. She thinks about Muphrys Law happening while on vacation...with us Muphrys Law happens before. Sitting here typing I have to laugh about the day that I have had. Thursday morning my sister was working (she delivers the newspaper) and she tells me that the tire was flat!! Oh just lovely, she called my mom and step-dad to come change it (my sister is still on sticks and could not do it). Well it took them an hour to get there and the step-dad broke the lug nut. And now 24 hours later she has 2 flat tires. And the cherry on the cake I have 2-NOT just 1, but 2 smashed fingers, thank God they are not broke...just brused and hurts very BAD!!!! I was taking a bed frame apart and the two rails came down and smashed my my thumbs. I will give you a few minutes to laugh, because now looking back it was funny. The rails just came down and smashed both at the same time. Boy did that hurt!!! So that is Muphrys Law with us for the day.

I'm sorry Murphy is working against you, too. He seems to have a thing for messing up my world. He's hit us pre-trip, this time too. It seems like every time I get things almost settled, he throws another wrench in the works. Makes you want to scream! I'm only laughing at your fingers because the exact same thing happened to me just this morning......taking the bed frame apart.
On a side note, maybe we'll cross paths somewhere in the World. If you see us.....RUN......so it doesn't rub off on you! (Just kidding!)

Its okay you can laugh all you want about the dumb bed frame. I was like a deer in head lights with that one. My sister did ask why I did not move my fingers. I told her that it was like it was going in slow motaion until they smashed my fingers and all I could see was the dumb thing sliceing my thumbs off and they would go flying across the room. She just laughed harder!!

Not with me...I just have a target on my car...the only ones that can see it is MEN! In all the accadents that I have been in I have only been hit by a woman one time. The rest have been MEN!!! The best one was the guy that hit me while he was driving a box truck delivering mail. His answer to hitting me was...well I was getting my drink off the floor and besides why should I watch what I am doing no one is on the road at this hour anyway. The accadent happened at about 5:30 AM!!

I would rather everything happen now then on the trip. Been there done that with two trips and they were not fun trips.

So this is the check off list for the last 31 days left before we leave.

So some up-dates on things. Thumbs are still killing me...did not help much that I had to decorate 3 cakes for a bake sale. My sisters car had more wrong with it then just 2 tires...so Good Bye 1,000.00 to get it fixed. We tried to get a 4 for 1 deal at the ER this week. I had smashed fingers, DNephew #1 had a hurt toe, DNephew #2 had a hurt noise, and my sister had a hurt arm. We all DID NOT go to the ER, but DSis did...she has cellulites from a bug bite, she is on meds, so hopefully she will be better soon. But it will work out.
The list of people coming down with my family is getting smaller and smaller. Sad to say that is a good thing. Love my family but dont like dealing with them right before I go to Disney. One has a hurt foot, one is not coming because of the one with the hurt foot, and the other one may not come because of the first two and the last one may not come because she is a HEAP of trouble in TX! The last of witch (the one in trouble in TX) could not have happened to a better person...52 years old and wants to act like a 21 year old...it is crazy.
Just happy that in a month we will be sitting in Disney!!
