PTR - Cruising with the Perry's on the Fantasy updated 12/04/2013 - Page 7 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Tuesday continued
Tonight was Pirate night!
My parents were dining at Remy's tonight.
Gorgeous couple
After dinner we went to see Goofy, Chip n Dale and Jake!
Haleigh wanted to go off to the kids club but before that I was able to grab Matt and I a few drinks and then enjoyed some time together on Deck 4.
Haleigh went to the kids club then we went to get her before the pirate party. Sorry I don't have any pics from the party that are good. There was a small fight that had happened when we got there and we were stuck trying to find a good view of the show and not be distracted by the chaos happening around us.
I had the drink of the day and grabbed the girls an apple juice to share! We have collected plenty of these cups over the years and they are nice to bring home and reuse.
We tried to stay up for the fireworks but were exhausted! Luckily we saw them last year. Matt stayed up for them and showed us a video the next morning.

St. Thomas
Today we got up and had breakfast at Cabanas. We had decided the day before not to bring Lydia with us when getting off the boat. It's hard to entertain a 1 year old when we were just planning on shopping. We took Lydia to the nursery at 9am then got off the boat! We caught a cab/bus and the cost was $4 per person. We then took the 10 minute bus ride to the shopping center.
My parents have been here enough they knew their way around. We spent about 2 hours shopping and visiting the markets. You can see the market behind my dad in the picture above with the blue tents. Surprisingly no purchases were made. Haleigh did buy 3 anklets but the more jewelry we saw the more it all started to look alike . My dad was on a hunt to find a watch but didn't have any luck. My mom found a beautiful purse, but they weren't willing to go down on the price at all which I told her it wasn't meant to be. By 11am it was getting very hot and I could feel my shoulders getting burnt. Luckily we got off the boat early enough to beat the heat. I'm so glad we got off and Haleigh was able to see the culture and environment. She did a great job while we browsed through many stores!
We were back on the boat by 11:30 and had lunch at the Royal Court. We had reserved the nursery till 1:30 since we weren't sure how long we'd be off the boat. We picked Lydia up and went back to our room for a nap!
Nice that you got off the ship, but too bad you didn't return with shopping bags. The same thing often happens to me on vacation. Everything starts to look the same (and touristy) in the shops and I end up not getting anything. Then, when I get home and remember the merchandise it seems unique! Hope that didn't happen to you!
Can't believe there was a fight in the crowd at Pirate night. YIKES!

I see it as since I didn't buy anything on the island then that's more I can spend on board the ship.
I don't want to try and retell the story on the fight since I don't recall all of it and of course I'd only be putting the pieces together on what we saw and think happened, but there was a guy who was taping the show and he happened to catch it on camera. DH and I were bummed because Haleigh wasn't able to see the show well with all of the commotion. Next cruise we'll go up to deck 12 to watch it!
Sounds like a nice time off the ship, even if you didn't buy much in the shops.
It was nice to get off! It had been 10 years since I was last at St. Thomas with my parents and Matt's first time. I'm glad we didn't go to the beach since it was so hot.
Cruising with the Perry's on the Fantasy updated 10/24/2013
Wednesday, Sept 11 continued
Royal Tea Party!
Haleigh and I had been waiting for this since we received the tickets on Sunday! I think I was more excited than her. The tea party is new to the Fantasy and I'm glad I got to experience this with Haleigh.
She was dressed and ready to go well before the party started.
The tea party started on time and we were greeted by the hosts Lady Chamomile and Chef Brulee.
We were seated at a table which we shared with another mom and her daughter. The little girl was celebrating her 8th birthday that day! I felt like a Princess when I walked it! Wow it was a beautiful set up and the Princesses received a lot of nice gifts. There were 17 girls that attended and 1 boy. When my mom signed up the crew member told her the cut off was 10 kids, but I know Disney isn't going to turn away anyone. It never felt crowded, the set up was nice.
BTW - I wish they would have sold the Cinderella dolls or other Princesses in the gift shop. They would make great gifts.
Each Princess received a tiara, autograph book, pen, Cinderella doll, jewelry box, matching necklace and bracelet with charms and a beautiful portfolio that was delivered on the last night of our cruise with a picture of Haleigh and 3 Princesses.
The girls sang and danced and then each song that they sang too a Princess entered the room. First it was Belle and when Belle entered she gave each girl a charm for her bracelet. The charm matched the necklace. Then Tiana and finally Cinderella!
While they were signing and dancing the girls were given tea (aka apple juice) and the parent(s) were given tea. We had plenty of finger foods and dessert. Though I wasn't hungry I wanted to try everything! While eating dessert each Princess came by the table and had one one one time with each girl or boy.
The food
There was a cucumber sandwich, jelly and banana, tomato and mozzarella, mini cheese pizza role, and I can't recall what the other one was.
Each child received a personalized sugar cookie! Haleigh ate hers first
Kid desserts
Adult desserts with a white chocolate sauce and chocolate sauce
Haleigh enjoyed the chocolate dipped marshmellow
This cupcake was half icing and the rest cupcake!
Overall we had a great time! We're planning on cruising again in 2 years so I hope this will still be offered! You can not book this until you get on the cruise. You'll need to visit guest services or if you're staying Concierge they can take care of it for you! The total length of time for the tea party was an hour and 15 minutes.
What a lovely time at the tea! They certainly included a lot of "extras", too, and really made the experience worthwhile. Haleigh looks like a little princess herself. I think I like the look of the kid's desert plate better than the one for adults!
