2015 Completed Pages Scrapbook Challenge - Page 7 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

I completed another 4 pages today for our WDW/Cruise in December. I'm enjoying using all the leftover Christmas stuff from a childhood Christmas album I did a while back. I really over bought paper for that earlier album. New total = 73.

I have made progress getting organized and ordering pictures from our October 2014 trip.
I finished the calendar that included pics of the Mediterranean Cruise we took in 2013. That puts me at 39/200. I also was able to get two pages scrapped yesterday and so that makes it 41 out of 200.
I have decided to try to get at least 2 pages done each evening. If I plan to get a small amount done each day I may actually find that I finish an album or two by the end of the month.
I did a couple of pages on my cruise album the other day, putting me at 54/300...that's 18% of my goal, just 11% into the year. I'll be leading merit badges on the days scheduled for the next two crops at my church, so I'll miss those, but I'll probably invite a friend or two over to crop with me in my basement craft area.
I spent some last night editing & ordering pictures. I finished a fair number & got the order in before midnight, for a Groundhog Day special price...but then didn't get the sale price. Oh well, I was getting to where I only have about 8-12 pages' worth of pictures printed and needed to get more done. And it's for the Sept '14 WDW trip, so that's fun...now I just need to get to the rest of them edited and ordered.
pago, I think your plan of a couple of pages a day is great!
Nice work, head of schedule, Ginger!
I got another 4 pages done this morning. I was pleased as my carpal tunnel and arthritis are creating quite a bit of pain for my right hand. Snow is coming, though the weatherman is saying not much accumulation. Poor hand thinks it will be more or it could be the fact that Wednesday night the temps are supposed to plummet. New total = 77.

Great work, sorry to hear about your hand! I have mild arthritis in both hands, just below the thumbs, more in the left. It's agonizing when they're cold, but the worst thing is when someone with a gorilla grip gives me a "firm" handshake. One guy at work a few years ago actually put me on my knees in pain!
Anyway, I've found the Thermacare wraps work great! People all around you may think you've been in a horrible accident, since they look like white bandages, but who cares, if they work? They used to have one specifically for arthritic hands, but I think that special one has been discontinued, though others will work for that. Here's what they look like: Neck, Wrist & Shoulder | ThermaCare® .
I feel your pain, Cam and Ginger. I get it in my wrists badly, prior to my rheumatoid infusion I get every five weeks. I have started to wear fingerless gloves in my office and sometimes scrapping. I got a dozen pair at a Gap outlet last fall and they are just perfect for working with my hands. Lightweight, but enough to keep wrists and palms warm.
As far as scrapping, I am working on nine layouts of our new granddaughter. I am planning the layouts, working on journaling (that is not going too well, messed up some so need to redo) and will soon be putting them all together. No pages to add to my numbers, but soon will be a bunch (not your kind of bunch - Chezp, Cam and Ginger), but my kind of small number bunch! I am only able to work on scrapping about 1-2 hours on some evenings.

Sounds like you're making good progress, planning those layouts, and what fun to scrapbook a new grandbaby!
Don't compare yourself to us workhorses...we've been scrapping for a lot of years. Whatever amount of scrapbooking you get done, you're preserving precious family memories that you'll always cherish.

Well said Ginger. Haimia, it's not about numbers - and don't forget, I do digital scrapbooking, which I find is a lot quicker than traditional scrapping. I still need to get back to the traditional stuff and finish off our 2012 trip, then decide what to do about our 2013 and 2014 trips and whether I turn digital for those. I'll see what I think when I get my digital Disneyland Paris book...
Anyway, I finished my other book - another 17 pages, so I'm on 203 pages now, and that's me done until we get back from vacation next month.
Ginger, I'll be getting some ThermaCare soon. I can't believe I haven't thought of that as we used to use it for Stefanie's back pain.
Haimia, such a neat project to scrap photos of the new grandbaby!
I was able to get another 4 pages done today, but in the process I realized that I still had photos that I forgot to print. So I've also printed off 3 more photos of the room, so I can do that layout tomorrow. New total = 81.
I have finished another 4 pages this morning. I also redid 2 of the pages from yesterday as I wasn't totally pleased with them. Now I am. New total = 85.

I was able to pick up some papers at Hobby Lobby last night to work on more pages today. The truth is I have tons of paper, but sometime none of it works with what I'm trying to do, and so I buy more. Today I was able to get 6 more pages done. I also recounted my pages today and somewhere I've forgotten to give myself credit for 2 completed pages. So the New Total = 93.
