As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

I don't want to think about what I have spent. . .groceries, eye doctor for DS9, Valentines Day gifts for the kids, a couple of new shirts for each of them. The only things that would fall under the "not necessary" heading are a POtC book for each of them from the dollar store, and a trip out for dinner tonight. DH feels like we have been neglecting the boys a bit lately, since we have both been working extra hours. So instead of our usual Saturday night fast food ($20), we went out ($55). On the positive side, I have not charged anything in 2008. For me, that is HUGE. So I think I'll say I am still doing well.
McDonald's won again over cup o' noodles. These scrapbook shows are LOOONG days for me (12-14 hours this trip) and eating is on the fly. I was starving on the way back to the hotel (and depressed, it's been a very slow show). I got a kids meal and an extra toy so I can bring DDs the FurReal things they've been wanting. I checked my email and 9yo had sent me an e-card about how she misses me and feels so lonely in the dark and can't wait until I'm home to hug and cuddle with again. How will she ever make it 4 months without me next year if I do the WDW College Program???
Show's over tomorrow and I didn't buy anything, only traded a couple of shirts that I knew about beforehand for a mug/trash holder I needed and some Disney embellishments that I *NEEDED*. (right??? )
I have to be back at my booth at 830 am until 3pm, pack it up, hit the road and drive 9 hours home. So there will be gas, TOLLS and I'm sure a coffee or 2 or 3 along the way.

DH wanted to go out and spend money today - he suggested a movie. The movie "Witness" came on (LOVE that movie) and DH sat and watched it. I suggested we have dinner in, and watch Pay-Per-View. Only 14 yr old DD was home. I made spaghetti and meatballs, and DH and I watched "The Heartbreak Kid" for 3.99. So, not so bad. DD is hosting the GS meeting this Monday. She worked on the badge (on Language, and we will be calling her sister, the speech pathology major who is in England now). The snack will be popcorn popped by DH in our fireplace. Kids who were brought up on microwave popcorn go nuts when they get real popcorn.
Major shopping and a taxi home. Sounds like Saturday to me. We are gonna take a little trip tomorrow. Nothing too expensive, but I want to see some different territory. I promise to behave

i spent 10 on McDonalds for breakfast.....and a couple bucks for water at DD's basketball game...... but otherwise i was spend free . Made the gumbo so no out of pocket money today.....staying home and resting
The potential for yesterday was great, but I think I did OK. First of all, I picked up our un-repairable-TV from the repair guy and he didn't charge me because he couldn't fix it. (Loooong story, but this poor guy looked for over two months for a part for this blasted TV. Now we are going to ship it back to the company even though it is out of warranty and see if they can either fix it or give us some sort of refund. It is less than 2 years old.). Then I went to a wonderful PP lunch but I had budgeted for that and I stayed within budget. I had to stop at Walmart on the way home for a birthday gift for my DNephew and for dog and cat food. Since I have been putting cash away every week for birthdays, etc, his gift came out of that money and I spent $25 above and beyond that. Cat and dog food (I feed them Iams, so it's a little $$$) and....are you ready for this? Green pine garland for next year's decorating. 4 packs, each 18 feet long. The cost? 25 CENTS EACH!!! I needed new for my banister and my mantle, and figured I was going to have to bite the bullet and pay close to $30 next season. Well, count me $29 in the black!!!
Then I stopped at K-Mart for my DSiL's gift (her birthday was yesterday, but at least we are over birthdays till June, I think.) Again, out of my money stashed away. What a help that has been. I don't miss the $10 I put in the envelope and it doesn't destroy my weekly budget!
We ate dinner at home, and I am cooking in tonight.
Oh, another savings! We needed to return a scanner that we got my DMiL for Christmas, and they finally credited my account after almost a month. So I went online to get her a replacement, and I found the exact same scanner on Amazon for $50 less! Plus I qualified for free shipping! So her gift is finally taken care of, and I saved a little money, too!
If you're on the errand trail and want to have a filling little lunch out for cheaper than you can cook, try Jack-in-the-Box's two taco deal. Two tacos for $1.07 (with tax...in Texas). DS and I ate there for a whopping $2.14 yesterday!
I had to go shopping for jeans. I have lost more than 30 lbs since Nov and my clothes are getting too loose (I tried to stretch it out so far... but it was not getting pretty) and I spent yesterday pulling clothes that are too large out of my drawers and closet. So today was jeans day... and I found 2 pairs of Lee jeans which were listed at 29.99 a pair... and were marked down to 24.99 and when I went to check out - they were 21.99 a pair!! I also found a pair of shorts (something else that are all too large for me) originally listed at 29.00 a pair - they were marked down to 2.80!!!
So two pairs of jeans - 8.00 saved on each pair, and a pair of shorts more than 25.00 off.... not bad for a girl that HATES to shop!
Awesome weight loss Terri. Today I spent $102 in groceries, which included 6 pounds of coffee beans, so it came out alright. I came home and watched Fast Food Nation that we got from Netflix. Anyone wishing to cut their fast food habits might want to check this movie out. I couldn't even watch the final scene, but the rest of it had me extremely thankful I don't eat burgers.
Other than my slip yesterday- I did ok- went to the mall today to get DS#2 a hoodie from Old Navy for Valentines Day and even with all the great sales, all I bought was Turbo Tax- which saved memoney by not having them done at the CPA's.
i have had a ZERO$$ day so far....but i have to make a CVS run later after DH gets home. good news is....it will all be coupon based....and the ECB's i get will help towards my next purchase....i am excited to start playing the CVS game....we will see how it works out
DH was called in this weekend to work....14 hours yesterday and today....all in overtime... so its all gravy money......money to put into the OSF (my Oh S--- Fund haha) and to put toward paying off all these credit cards......there is a light at the end of the tunnel.....and i am SO EXCITED!!!!!!!!
