Star Wars Weekends: Episode IV - New Hope(s) May/June 2012 - Page 67 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Good times at DHS! We waited exactly 70 minutes for TSMM, the posted wait time - I'm glad you got to go on it. I'm interested in seeing what your choice is from all the shoes...
But, I have to add my comments to all the others about your wait for TSMM! How super is that! I've ridden it before, but never experienced the queue - only the fast-pass entrance. Hoping to remedy that this summer!

Why do these kids look so pathetic?

My opinion don't count, but... looking at each of them, I like the Teva Tirra because they look sturdy enough for a day of strenuous walking and they don't have the toe separator that can get uncomfortable at times.
I am still looking for a pair of sandals and I am not having any fun...three weeks and still no shoes. I like the ones you found, think I might need to do some research and quickly. Funny thing I am so picky with sandals, flip flops....the most comfortable ones I have ever had were these Mickey flip flops I got from Avon, of course they no longer have them and the original ones, well they have been regulated to house sandals, they are truly done in. Haven't found a pair I liked since.
Wow Kelly, I had fallen so far behind! Glad you finally got to experience TSMM. We missed it in April. And holy lightsaber Batman! That is one huge lightsaber! Wait, can I mix Batman references with Star Wars content . Sounds like a good first day. Can't wait for more.
Seems as if the TSMM fairies were shining down on y'all. What a great wait time! Those fairies must have been hanging around on Friday too but if you want to know more you'll have to wait for it in the TR.
And I really dig the SW picture frame. Too . Oh and Steph has her Mickey head shaped one up in her room already. Too funny that she had mentioned wanting those before we saw y'all. Thanks so much Kelly!
I'm so glad you both like the frames. I've eyed those myself for years - still don't have one either.

Have a great weekend - try to stay cool.
I've heard great things about Teva, so may go that direction. I may shop around and try them on in person then look for the best deal online possibly.

I like the Teva ones. I think I like the Zirra better than Tirra, but I like them both. And you can try them out and let me know how they are for my November trip.
It is misleading, but it goes by pretty quick with the stuff to do inside.
I'll give you a full review of whatever shoes I decide on.

I swear I think they make up something really really outrageous to deter people from the line.
I think they make stuff up too! Because this was the first time we had that experience. I can't believe they kept on either, but they did so I took it.

They didn't have the straps in the back though.
Thanks for the info. I was afraid of that and now that I know for sure I'll cross those off the list. I wore my croc flip flops quite a bit on this past trip and they were fine, but looking for something 'more', if you know what I mean.

I don't think I could get the boys to wait that long. Heck, I don't think I'd want to wait that long.

Thanks for your input Laurie. I never took the rubbing into consideration, but might have to.

Thanks Kathy. Once I decide on the style, then I have to decide on a color!

I hope you get to see the rest of the queue; even seeing it quickly is really neat.

Definitely intersted in your findings....
I hope you find something! I'm not sure I'll find anything before you leave to help you out. Make sure if you find some to give me the details though.

I hung the lightsaber in Dylan's room today. I'll have to take a picture - it takes up the whole span of the wall space it's on.
I've finally caught up on your TR. Sounds like you all had a busy and fun first day. We love leaving on the first flight too, it makes for a long day, but we love having more time in Disney!! Can't wait to read more.
I'm still in the process of catching up, still have pages and pages to go. But comments for now: Great Father's Day weekend, glad the rain cleared up for your first day, Sanaa looks so delicious, and bummer about your sinuses and then the rash. I'll be back tomorrow for more of your adventures.
So glad yall got to ride on TSMM! When we where there in 2008 the ride had only been open maybe 2 months and we got to ride it 4 times that week!! It dont seem like alot but for it being a new ride at the time!!! But we did use FP two of those times. I hate you ended up paying for the F! package, did you get a refund? Cant wait for more!!!

Usually we take the last flight out too.

Hi Cam! No worries at all. You'll get to the part where we meet you in your TR probably before I get there in mine.

We've been every year since it opened and this was the first time we'd actually been able to ride it. We always got there too late for FPs or it was too long of a line.
We didn't pay for the F! package at dinner. We just ate off the menu. If you decide not to do F! you just don't get the voucher for the reserved seating, so it worked out fine.
