As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

What a night!
Today was just an "ordinary miracle" day. Nothing really special, just lots of time counting vouchers, delivering vouchers, picking up vouchers. I did sprinkle some "pixie dust" on a little girl's "comets" as I was collecting vouchers and she tossed it in and won. I love when that happens!
Our party was from 630-830, but I was scheduled until 630, so I missed the first few minutes. I set up my day so that I took my last break at the end of the day and was able to change, clock out, and run. It was very, VERY quiet! I took photos of our "crew" who was working the party (so I can write them thank-you notes) and there were tables set up about some of the cast services as well as the professional recruitment team and the college rep folks. It was interesting b/c the CPs all seemed to cluster together in our little area groups.
Our group headed to Dinosaur first, which it was literally 12 of us n the room for the pre-show. We were put in 2 cars and had a lot of fun. A couple of the girls had never been on it before, so THAT was funny. After that, we went to Restaurantasaurus for hot dogs, chips, coke, and Mickey bars (free!). It was kind of funny b/c the story line behind the restaurant is that it was the college dorms/hangout for the Dino Institute and it most certainly was that tonight!
After eating, we went to the Dinorama where they opened all the games for us to play (free!). We won College Program prizes which was a lot of fun. I won the Comet Crasher, Mammoth Marathon, and even Bronto Score (2nd shot...nothin' but net!!!). The other 2 games, I can NEVER win, but I played and we had fun. A bunch of the kids went to Everest, but I can't ride that one and it was getting late, so I went ahead and called it a night. On the way out, I chatted a bit with the president of AK and thanked her for allowing the party to happen. AK was the only park that did a welcome event for the CPs this semester and I think it was very important, particularly for our area.
I had to pick 20yo up, so we'd arranged for her to take street clothes and I'd meet her in Epcot for me to watch Illuminations. I haven't seen it yet this time around and it was time! I booked it over and hoofed it back to Norway where I bought myself a Rice Cream (I'm the only one who likes it, so I never make it at home anymore). Yummy! Illuminations was awesome and a very nice close to my day.
I've got my Disney class tomorrow, then I'm off on Saturday, time desperately needed to write my final paper for this class. My parents have decided NOT to come next week, which makes me sad. I was looking forward to showing my Dad the Flower and Garden at Epcot, but I understand why he doesn't want to come.
I did buy hubby's plane ticket today (thank Heavens Southwest rates held out for me!) so 12yo's 13th birthday plans are coming together. The time is going so fast and I feel like I have SO much more I need to do before it's over with!
Oh, I also found out they are opening extensions up next week, so I'm planning to apply for an extension in hospitality, just in case a PI or a regular job doesn't come through.

Sounds like a great time. It was wonderful of them to do that for you all. As guests, it's always so much nicer if the CMs can say "Yes, I've done that." Even if they say they didn't like it, it's still good.
Sorry your parents can't come. I know you were looking forward to seeing your dad. Thrilled your DH is coming for your DD's b-day! That will be so good for them!

Dawn, I've spent the last week or so reading your entire thread! You are incredibly inspiring, and through the ups and downs, have really made so much magic in your short time there. I hope you get an internship or position, as you definitely belong in Disney.
