We're going to WDW! Adventures of a Mom & Toddler Trip, PTR - Page 66 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Thanks so much Holly. He's shown some interest in the past couple days which is a lot more than I can say for wishing he was already fully potty trained. Maybe better him wanting to try it at home after our trip than while we were away(I did try getting him to go at my mom's house since her toilets are low, but he was so scared). With his speech delays and everything at least he is trying which does make me happy. I knew just from experience with my kid brother taking his time with Potty Training, I may have the same issue with Skyler too. At least his Training potty isn't scaring him.
Glad to hear Skyler's appointments went well and good luck with the potty training!! Can't wait to read your TR & see all your pics! I was wondering what you thought about the Bears/Giants game? Not good huh? We are really disappointed that Cutler probably won't play on Sunday against the Panthers. Nathan is really SAD!!! I know it is for the best, but he really wanted to see Cutler play.
I did anything I could to give all the positive feedback there was to my girls. It will happen with time...be patient.
Thanks so much Ginger. I've been having his potty close to where we are and ask him if he wants to sit on it and try. I am certainly being patient with him with it. As long as there is effort and interest on his part, it is making me happy. My roommate from college whom is coming down here with her new DH is going to help me with it. I still have his Woody Mr. Potatohead in his box ready to give Skyler once he decides he wants to be potty trained. I should peobably have Erick print off some Chuck E Cheese potty training charts and buy some mini stickers to put on them and once each chart is filled they have a coupon for some tokens which Skyler just loves the rides in the Toddler play section. I think it's good positive reinforcement for him, especially to use on a day after Speech Therapy. Believe it or not we don't go for the food.

Susan, That game was horrible. I know we can't win them all, but the Bears certainly
weren't playing their best, and I think the
wet field had to do with it too. So sorry you
won't get to see Cutler play on Sunday. I do
hope the Bears beat the pants off Carolina.
New Orleans didn't have an easy time
against them last weekend, but it will be nice
if Carolina's record can stay as it is and that
will help New Orleans a lot honestly. I hope all 3 of you have a wonderful time at the game on Sunday! How far of a drive from where you are in Virginia is it to NC? I know from where we live in Virginia, we're a 5-6 hour drive just to the Northernmost part(where I have some family there). I'll be keeping an eye out to see if I spot you on TV an get excited to see you(this was how I was seeing my DSis &DBil in college too).
Welcome home Becki! I hope all is going well--good luck with the potty training! Its amazing how you come to feel like you know people after reading their trip reports! Good luck with everything!

Really looking forward to going to the game. I guess it's a combination of really wanting to get away for a few nights & looking forward to watching Nathan enjoy something he loves so much! I'm so glad we all 3 got tickets for the game. The drive for us is probably 7+ hrs. Look for us in the stands!! I'll be away from the computer for a few days, so I'll be looking for your TR when I get back on Monday!! Have a great weekend!

Evan had a toy he picked out too, for when he got potty trained. It sat in the hall right by the bathroom for over 3 months! He never really cared about the sticker chart - good luck again - stay postitive.

Thanks everyone. We picked out some Big Boy underpants(all Disney of course) today for Skyler as an incentive to Potty Training. I havemy hands full with him and working on getting him to sit still for a half hour 2 times a day(hard challenge), besides him coming home withhomework from Speech Therapy today for the first time officially. I am trying to get everything in order for my roommate from College, Courtney's arrival on Monday and for us to meet her new DH of a year Paul(sadly we couldn't make it to their Wedding). Courtney & I haven't seen eachother since 2003, but we have remained the best of friends, and really ai am happy of the handful of true best friends I have, she is one of them, and she and Erick get along well(Erick was also in our group of friends in college too). I hope I can at least getmy first update up tonight or so(sorry very few pictures from our arrival to Florida since I was busy keeping Skyler not so fussy on the plane and out of things or chasig him at mom's DBF's house which isn't baby proofed at all(and he has a Grandson 8 months younger than Skyler that lives close by him). My mom still hasn't sent me the pictures from the beach or pool yet from our first & second full days yet(I can always add those later though). I do need the computer from Erick though since pix are on there!
Ishouldprobably givea little back story and this is for me not realizing how much pain I would be in while at WDW. 5 years ago I had gotten into my worst car accident ever, being run off the road by a couple of 8 year old boys riding ATVs on the road, in my lane, heading straight at me w/o helmets, andther ATVsnotbeing registered, and the parents being at a bar getting drunk. The kids and their parents are very lucky I didn't take them to court and sue them for thedamages caused to my car & my own injuries, but I did hurt my back, neck, & shoulder pretty badly in it. I think between the rain and a lot of walking my back & legs were giving out on me a lot(and made it hard to wake up each morning) even with bringing and taking Tylenol a couple times a day.
Thanks so much Heather. I certainly can't wait for you all to get to know Skyler & I better in my TR.
Susan, have fun this weekend at the game. Go Bears!
Thanks Holly. Skyler has gotten more into stickers, but I think he likes it more because he gets time to go on the rides when he completes it. I know he'll get the hang of it, it just depends on Skyler! I haven't given up on my little guy yet and don't plan to.

Continued for potty training. Dylan has no interest either and since the new baby we won't be pushing it for a while. Our Parents as Teachers person said that for boys at least they need to be able to pedal a tricycle in order to potty train as they use the same muscles and that the age should be more like 3.5 - 4.
