I Don’t Wanna Grow Up – 30th Birthday Trip x2, August 7-11, 2010 - Page 65 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Now, note to self.....MUST DO TEA AT GF!!!!! Geez, everything looked so amazing, even your comfy chair you were sitting in.
Glad you just missed the rain too.
How did you feet hold up walking around the parks? Haven't heard any complaints from you about that just yet, so I am hoping pretty good.
So far, sounds like your B-day was great and very tasty too
[QUOTE=OhToodles!;3415641]I'm scheduled for my c-section a few days before I hot 40 weeks, so about that same as you it sounds. And you'll be where I'm at soon! Although I hope you're more confortable than me. Do you know what you're having?
QUOTE] So far I feel ok, but we all know how that can change in the blink of an eye. I find out next week what I'm having. CAN'T WAIT. A boy would be fun since I have a girl, but either way, I'm soooo very lucky

One of my favorite things to do at Disney...afternoon tea! Looks like you guys had a great time and since you ate your scones and tart before you could take a picture, here you go:
I love how the animals don't mind walking around in the rain. It probably felt good in the heat. Can't wait to read more!
Thanks Melissa! I wish I had that plate sitting in front of me right now - it'd be gone in seconds, but that's ok!

Jill
It was nice that she was looking out for me. I think I tried the trifle on a different visit and it was good, but those pastries are SO much better to me!

It was a nice surprise to see those photos on there. I hope they continue to do little things like that. Like maybe for MNSSHP & MVMCP.

I'm assuming those are the Summer Nightastic ones - we saw them the night of my birthday and they were pretty amazing. You must do tea - yes! I've loved it every time I've done it and that bench is quite comfy! My feet were fine - no problems at all and I even wore flip flops. Now that I'm home it's a whole other story though - I've got the cankles now and toes are beginning to look like sausages!

Can't wait to hear what you're having! I know what you mean about wanting the other - I was hoping for a girl, but another boy for us. I came to grips with it pretty quickly and now I'm very excited to have another boy in my life!

AKL is a great place! DH & I stayed there on our honeymoon and fell in love with it - that's why it's our home resort now. It's definitely the way to go!

I think you will love Kona. I will say my in-laws had a not so great experience on their trip - bad service, wrong food orders brought out, but they've been before and know how good it is so they'll go back. Thanks on my shirts! I had the Mickey one when I was pregnant with Dylan and wore it to WDW when we went in June 2007 too! Why is it that it just takes FOREVER to get to/from DtD! When we start driving down I think that will be the place we use our own car. Sorry, but this baby is coming no later than 9/23! But you're in between my boys - Dylan's bday is 10/5. I would love to go shopping with you at Disney (or anywhere for that matter)! A girls trip would be so much fun, especially now that I'm surrounded by boys!

We left the room around 7pm to head to MK. On our way out the Photopass guy was in the lobby taking pictures so we stopped there and got a few.
We also went through the gift shop on our way to the bus. This is when Mike actually traded his Miss Piggy for the Monorail Vinylmation. He was wanting the Epcot Center one. We later found out they had sold out of the entire Park Series #4 resort wide so we would not be finding it. We were told that they were making more to be released soon so we were hoping Mike’s parents would be able to find one when they came to WDW the week after we got back. Sadly they weren’t out then either, so he got another Muppet Vinylmation – this time Statler.
Once at MK we browsed the shops on the right hand side. In the jewelry store a CM gave me a marshmallow dipped in white chocolate with sprinkles since it was my birthday! (I have yet to eat that treat – I’m saving it!) We also grabbed some pictures on Main Street and then closer to the castle before heading to Tomorrowland.
In Tomorrowland we did CoP and the TTA before heading to check-in for the dessert party. We didn’t have to wait too long before they started seating people. We were led to our table – and wow! What a view! I think we had the best seat in the house! We were in the first row on the far right of the seating. Tink flew directly over my head, which I almost missed because the video camera had run out of room while we were taping the fireworks. The best part of sitting here was that we got to sit the entire time too and not have our view obstructed!! There was a Photopass guy set up at the party so we got our picture taken before heading to the buffet.
I think one of the best things about the buffet was that you could get a big glass of ice cold milk with all those yummy desserts! You could also get coffee, tea, lemonade, or water. On the buffet was rice krispy treats, cookies, crème brule, mousse, mango shooters, fresh fruit, chocolate covered strawberries, fruit tarts, and so on and so on.
The dessert party started at 9pm and the fireworks started at 10pm. The fireworks were excellent! I loved them! I will say that they seemed shorter than Wishes, but that could have just been me.
View with no zoom.
Sadly I didn't get any good photos of the fireworks.
We sat at the table for a while before heading out (letting the masses filter some) and I stopped at the restroom too – longest line ever! Then we did MiLF (love that show!). Mike then got a FP for Space Mtn. We headed into Fantasyland and did Mickey’s Philharmagic (I think this is excellent too!). The lines weren’t too long in FL, but I just didn’t feel like waiting in any of them. It also felt very closed in and unmagical back there – with all the partitions up for the expansion. So we went through Liberty Square next and then took the path behind the castle back to Tomorrowland.
I LOVE this photo!!
We've gotten Dylan's pic here each trip and since he wasn't with us, I made Mike fill in.
Mike used his FP for Space Mtn. Right before he did this a CM stopped me and asked to see my shirt, she read it and she said “All I have to say is you’re awesome!”. It was such a little thing to say, but it made my day!! While Mike rode Space Mtn, I rode the TTA again. He actually got done before me!
By then I was beat, no making it to 2am for us! We stopped for a few more PP pics on our way out as there was no lines and usually it’s like 20 people deep.
We were back in the room at 1:30am and crashed soon after.
Even though the rain had changed our plans and put a bit of a damper on the day it turned out to be a great way to celebrate my 30th birthday!
Up next…what you’ve all been waiting for…Dining with an Imagineer!
