As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

I think wrap-ups are my favorite part of trip reports. I recently took a break from this board during Lent and it was good to do. I sure can get sucked in with diminishing results. I'm going to send you a PM with info on a fun weight-management forum I post on. I'm turning over a new leaf in this area as well.

Even though the trip was fairly long, it still seemed way too short and I still didn’t do all I had wanted to or wished to do. I have heard people say they are ready to go home after a trip, but I never have that feeling. I really think I could spend a month easily there and still not really want to go home.
I too feel this way. I have started telling people that someday, in my retirement years, I'm going to either live near DL or WDW and get APs or I'm going to become a CM. I have a great job as an RN, but my heart is in tourism. I can't support my family in the tourism industry where we live, but someday....because I can't get enough of this stuff. Wish DH and DS felt the same.
All caught up! Great wrap-up. Sounds like me at the end of a trip, tired, but not ready to go home! Thanks for sharing your trip!
Thanks for reading along with me. I wish I could tell you when my next trip is buy my husband really will not commit.
We did go away for the weekend last weekend and that was nice, but definitely not Disney nice.

Best wishes going forward!!!
I am really having a hard time keeping up with any of the boards I follow anymore. So much going on and most days just whiz by.
I just thought I would pop in and tell you that our vacation is booked for the summer...well the trip is booked still need to get air.
We took a total left turn. At the end of April I started getting on Skip about when we would be traveling etc...to Disneyland. He said Aug. Ok...then he said he does not want to go to California. UGH. You have got to be kidding me. Where DO you want to go? I told him I really don't want to go to WDW in Aug as it will be 100 degrees, so if he wants to head there I rather do a cruise. He goes on to say he's afarid to tell me where he wants to go because he knows I won't want it. Go ahead...spill it!.....Alaska!
HECK YEAH I want to go.
So the research started. Ideally we all wanted to sail Disney. Skip amazingly wanted to sail Disney. There were a few issues that would make it hard for us to sail Disney..one was the dates we were looking at first showed no availability and then every so often it would show 1 or 2 rooms at an outrageous price. And also because of Skip's wild 20's, (it's not as wild as you may think, but Canada has some strict laws) he has to get a permission slip basicaly to enter Canada...or take a chance they won't find it when entering...long story short there...but it could take a year to get this done.
In the end we decided going out of Seattle was a better option...he still may not be able to get off the ship in Brittish Columbia on our stop there... and I have done research on this and also talked to about 5000 different people about all the options, but he should be fine.
So I researched NCL and Princess. I went back and forth and put both on hold. I was smart as NCL had an offer that was ending April 30 which included the ultimate beverage package...and after seeing the bar bill from the Magic last year I thought that might be nice to have for Skip.
After looking at what each ship/line offers I decided that NCL would fit Claire and Skip better. I am sure I would be just as happy on both.
Then while doing research I decided I would really like an aft room and they are called penthouse suites, which means basically a bit of a bigger room and balcony. By upgrading to this room it now included some more offers, including the specialty dining package, tips for Skip and I (just have to pay Claire's) and some shore excursion credits. And the best part..it was still $5000 less than Disney!!!!
Now we have to decide on excursions. They are all so dang expensive. I know Skip wants to do a Deadliest Catch one in KetchiKan and it does look kind of neat. I want to do a whale watching possibly while in Juneau. We'll start talking about that soon but first I need to hope air comes down at least $50 a person to make me feel better.
Congrats on the cruise! You will love Alaska - we're going back there with Disney on their last sailing of the season for one moment, I was hoping we might be on the same cruise. What a shame that wasn't to be.
Congrats on the cruise! I'd love to sail to Alaska someday
I am super excited...trying to do some reading when I get a chance here and there.

that would've been awesome! I am going to have to reread your TR again though. Even though it's not the same line the ports are pretty much the same!

I have sailed them twice but it's been awhile. Skip has sailed them once.

Congrats on the cruise booked to Alaska! I hope you get the chance to write a TR on that one as it's something that my DH and I have talked about doing for the past few years!
Congrats, that's awesome! I've looked into Alaska a few times, and I think when we finally go it will not be on DCL. Sadly, Disney's prices have gotten more out of control.
