10 Nights of Magic in The Orlando Trifecta-TR - COMPLETE!! 12/10 - Page 61 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

I hear you about the buses! As you know we went through the same thing one morning on our last trip. Why so many buses for Disney Springs at 8:00 in the morning??
Well, I’m glad you didn’t miss your FP window! And you got some great photos of Pandora!

Whew! Glad you made your FP+ for Na'vi River Journey!! That is a wonderful attraction!! Wonderful photos from Pandora and I agree, the theming is just amazing!!
That is such a long wait for your bus, glad you made your FP. I agree with you Disney did such a great job of Pandora, just like Universal did with Harry Potter.
I was getting anxious worried you'd not make your FP. 40 minutes for a bus is unacceptable and there's no logic for the DS buses - the stores aren't even open yet. I'm guessing there was no CM there to help? At the Contemporary and Poly on my Oct trip there were CMs there with ipads helping people with bus issues.
I'm so glad you made it - Navi is so beautiful - all of Pandora there is so much to take in.
I saw that Irma'd tree too. I hope they've finally gotten it up.

Just getting caught up. Great pictures of the Dolphin lobby. Glad you were able to get a seat st Fins and enjoy a glass of prosecco! I would have been on pins and needles waiting for the AK bus to show up! Yikes! Glad you made your FP! Great pictures from AK!
I feel your stress trying to get to your FP+. I'm glad you were able to make it, despite the late bus. I feel like it was the same for us trying to make our FP+ to FOP. Great picture of Pandora, Disney really did an outstanding job.
Just hope one day they can improve the efficiency of the bus system as two problems so far. You'd think Disney would have this down, but no way! Glad I got to my FP+ as I enjoyed it. Pandora is quite amazing!

I remember that from your TR! It was around 10 am but still too early for so many buses. Love Pandora and enjoyed Na'vi RJ.

So much to photograph in Pandora. It's quite amazing! I'm glad I made it for my FP+ as I didn't want to miss a brand new experience!

What a nightmare with the buses! Thank goodness you made it in time for your Fastpass+. You wouldn't have wanted to miss that!
75 minutes for Flight of Passage - that's practically a walk-on!
The buses are a hassle and just try to use them when I have to for this reason! I would not have been happy if I missed that FP+ I was quite surprised with the wait for FOP and like a walk on for that attraction with the 500+ minute waits at opening!

Too long of a wait and happens a lot to guests unfortunately! Agree with you on the two parks as done o well! Glad I made it on time for a great new attraction experience!

That is just bizarre with the DS buses and bus system overall and needs to be corrected as it happens often! I think it's a dual bus with Typhoon Lagoon, but still all these buses aren't needed for that and more than the four parks! No CMs there as this isn't a WDW resort even though the Disney transportation is available.
Pandora is amazing as was Na'vi as so much to experience in this park. The tree is out of the way so not a priority I guess.

Glad you are enjoying all of this and love what was done with the Dolphin lobby as so nice now compared with the aging dull one prior to this! Like night and day for sure! It's a bit of a pain with the buses at times and happens far too often! Need to overhaul their scheduling and dispatch system of the buses. Glad I made it for Na'vi RJ as such a great new attraction!

My DH and I always rent a car because the bus situation is frustrating at times but in March, I went with a friend and we decided against renting the car. The bus wait times from AKL and Boardwalk where we stayed were ridiculous most of the time. I don't know if it's all the construction going on that it has slowed down the service but we had the same experience with continuous buses for one or two parks and then nothing for the parks that we were heading to a long time! Glad you made your FP in time.
Tuesday, October 10th (Part II) This won’t be that long of an update as the next one should be done on its’ own and not combined with this one.
After enjoying the entertainment in Harambe Market I made my way over to my next FastPass+, which was very close by. It was for Kilimajaro Safaris and this attraction is always a bit mixed. It can be great at times and other time not so much, depending how much activity there is on the savanna and which animals are there. It’s tough to predict this!
I scanned my MagicBand and entered the attraction queue. What I found surprised me and wasn’t expecting this! The line was very long in the FP+ line and I must have waited a good twenty minutes before I entered my safari vehicle. Most times, it’s just been not much more than five minutes. It seems everyone with a FP+ for this decided to go at the same time! Once I got in the vehicle, all was good. There would be some good sightings today but not as much as previous experiences. So, here we go!
I forget the name of these but may be a Bongo or Kudu?
I know this is an Okapi as a cross between a Zebra and Giraffe
Always good when I see a Rhino and better yet as my seat was on the side for photos and not in the middle of a row!
Now, we’ve reached the open part of the savanna and hoping for plenty of Giraffe sightings!
Here they are!
Some good ones, but tough in a moving vehicle and depends which side of vehicle your on for the sightings and photos!
Like this tree and anyone know the name of it?
I was hoping to see some Lions but no such luck. I did see some Elephants but the views were from the other side of the vehicle! Not a big deal as I’ll have more than enough opportunities shortly to see some Elephants.
Soon, the ride came to an end and we arrived back in camp. Although, there were some good sightings on the savanna, I was hoping for more. But, overall it was good. Some of it was just luck of the draw depending which side of the vehicle you were on for the photo ops.
I exited the ride and made my way through the ride queue and was back in Africa near Harambe Market. It was about 12:30 pm and I had some time until my next activity in the Animal Kingdom. I did some walking around and got some photos.
I’ve never dined here but hope to one day!
An interesting perspective of the Tree of Life in Africa and one you don’t notice often.
I hadn’t had lunch but I will be having dinner at Tiffin’s in just over three hours as part of my Rivers of Light package. I didn’t have time to get much before my next activity, so I went to one of the refreshment ports in Africa and got a Dole Whip. This was at Tamu Tamu Refreshments. Not much of a lunch, but it was very good. I wish they had the Dole Whip Floats as I love those even more! I guess you can’t have everything. This was so refreshing on such a hot and humid day! After finishing this, I washed up in one of the restrooms as the Dole Whips can be a bit messy at times. I then headed for my next activity, which would be a new experience for me in the Animal Kingdom!
