Forums Closed
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.

So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.

Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.

We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.

There are other changes as well.

Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.

It's time to move on and move forward.

PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.

But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.

So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.

And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.

That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

Great morning in Future World and nice that you got to ride Soarin again!
Your first tastes in World Showcase look yummy!

Wow! I'm surprised that you've never ridden on the monorail! But now that I think about it, unless you're staying at a monorail resort, you really have no need to ride it.

Luke is well trained in spotting the monorail. The pictures came out great, looking like a postcard! Your food also looks delish!!

You did a great job on catching the monorail picture with the flowers in Epcot. It was a perfect way to start your day with a Soarin Fastpass! All your food and drink purchases sounded delicious and the Tiki drink that Luke got just might have to be added to my drink list for the F&W trip, so hopefully they're still have it at the Joffrey's stand then.

So glad to hear you picked Soarin' as a top ride. We are very excited about flying in the new scene. I really like your Monorail picture, it is perfect timing. We ride the Monorail in our November trips because we Resort hop to see all the beautiful Christmas decorations, and my DGS loves riding too.

It's the last full day. We still have a half day left after this. I've loved yellow flowers forever. My wedding bouquet that Luke got me was yellow sweetheart roses.

We've ridden the monorail almost every trip, but we realized we'd never ridden it on this trip, an unusual occurrence for us.

He is! Thanks! Luke took the best monorail/Epcot/F&GF photo with his phone, but I realize now that I never got him to send it to me so I could post it.

Thanks! I realized when we got home and uploaded all my photos to the computer that I took a lot of photos of the monorail. Luke is really hoping the Tiki Torch is still there.

We usually ride the monorail every trip just to be riding the monorail, so we can't figure how why we never rode it this trip.

I'm the same way and somehow a trip to WDW is not complete for me without doing this at least once! It was even better with my stays at the Poly (2009) and GF (2010) with multiple trips!

I loved being able to walk over and catch the monorail to MK and Epcot when we stayed at the Poly, a huge benefit of this resort.

NEXT: A Different Kind of Fun in Norway

Day 10 Part 2 Saturday, May 6, 2017

Our first after-lunch adventure found us in Mexico. We climbed the steps and entered the pyramid with plans to ride Grand Fiesta Tour with the Three Caballeros. I even capture a few good shots while on the ride.

When we exited the ride, something in Arribas’ Mexican Crystal shop caught my eye. We had been looking for some with Tinker Bell to bring back for Luke’s mom, but had not had any luck so far. I remembered that there is usually a selection of Tinker Bells here. Luke’s mom loves to sew and actually makes blankets to sell at the seniors’ center where she goes. With that in mind, we initially picked up a thimble with a very tiny Tinker Bell on top. As I waited in line to make our purchase, Luke continued to wander the store. In just minutes he was back with a larger Tinker Bell figure for the same price as the thimble. We figured it would be easier for everyone to see Tinker Bell wherever Mamaw displayed her. He took the thimble back, and before long it was my turn to check out. Thankfully, they wrapped Tink very well and she arrived home and over to Mamaw’s house with out any harm.

And Mamaw loves it!

Only in Epcot can one walk straight from Mexico right into Norway. World travel is so easy there. I had marked on my calendar some we very much wanted to do in Norway on this trip – meet Larry Dotson again and pick out another print or two of his. I make it a routine now to check his website prior to a WDW trip to see if he will be showing his art anywhere while we are there. Our dates just barely included his art show this time, but we’d catch the first day and that worked for us as we’d already planned to be in Epcot. I was a little surprised to learn that instead of being in the Art of Disney shop, he would be set up in The Puffin’s Roost. Not sure what the connection is, but that is exactly where we found him. He was taking care of another customer, so we took some time selecting the two prints we wanted – one of Kidani Village (we already have Jambo House) and one of elephants to remind us of our Caring for Giants tour. When it was our turn to pay, he chatted for quite a while with us and signed each print. When we returned home, I told Luke I didn’t want to wait forever to get frames for these. The last prints we bought were unframed for almost a year. When we saw wall frames were 50% off at Hobby Lobby, we immediately went in to get two frames like the other one in the safari bathroom. As we walked back to the checkout lanes, we noticed the cutest giraffe and baby elephant framed prints, which were also 50% off. I couldn’t pass these up. Included below will be the new prints (all four of them) plus the other giraffe prints in our two bathrooms.

With our purchases in hand, we returned to wandering the World Showcase. As we neared the American Pavilion, I told Luke I knew just what I wanted at The Smokehouse outdoor kitchen – Warm Chocolate Cake with bourbon-salted caramel sauce and spiced pecans. The line here was a little long so I used the time to photograph the queue. Unfortunately, I totally forgot to get a picture of the cake. I did eat it very, very quickly.

At this point we turned around and began retracing our steps back through World Showcase.

NEXT: Trains, Monorails, and Fast Cars

P.S. When I was retrieving the photos of our prints I came across a few souvenirs that I'm pretty sure I've failed to include.

First, my Tinker Bell spin toy, which was in my lap in the car on Tomorrowland Speedway, is here on my kitchen countertop. It actually now sits on a wooden filing cabinet in my scrapbook room now.

Sorry if any of these are repeats, but I had not edited them, so I figure I also had forgotten to include them.
