Saving the Magic (with Cam and Luke plus Morgan) COMPLETED - Page 61 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Really nice update. Love the safari ride shots. The lion looks like he is just surveying his kingdom. I'd never thought I'd say a warthog looks cute but the babies sure were. Looking forward to reading more.
WOW, Finally caught up. Cam, Luke & Morgan sure make a great trio. It looks like this was a very good experience for all of you. The PP pix with the new borders are very interesting. I am glad that I bought the PP+ for our trip in Sept. The party on the patio at Rose and Crown looked like a lot of fun. So glad you got to meet up Heather. I have been reading her move report. Such a brave lady. From what I have read, she looks to be an excellent addition to the day.

OMG I missed so much. I had to read back 25 pages. So enjoying your TR. I want to travel with you sometime. you sure so a lot. So many photo Opps. Your TR title sure fits this trip.
Great safari photos! That giraffe looked close enough to hug, and I always love baby elephants -- so playful and cute!
Looks like Morgan had a great time at Tusker House. It's still on our list of places to try, as we ended up cancelling our ADR on our last trip. The food sounds great!
I really love your safari photos. The elephants look close enough to touch. I'm glad the lion was up and alert for Morgan to see. Looking forward to the next installment - the bird teaser has me wondering.....

Great Safari pics. I love the Tusker House it is a must do for our family. Morgan looks happier and happier in each picture. She is one lucky girl to have such an awesome family!!
Yikes! I am so far behind!
all of the wonderful pictures!!!
It really looks like Morgan and Kelly's little guys certainly had a good time!
What fun to meet up with Heather! You look great Heather!
Your pictures of AK that morning are crazy! Look at all of those people!
But - all of your pictures of the safari just make me smile! the safari!
So what did Luke and Morgan learn from their science experiment????
I am having trouble with my camera! I have been unable to get it to turn on - and I have tried everything. I hope that I haven't lost all of my pics!
That is why I haven't even started my picture trip report!
Cam I'm so glad that you included the photos of the Lion and the Lioness in your AK report. My DH swears the lions we all see in the Kilamijaro Safari are fake animatronic animals. I showed him your pics and what a great shot of the lion. Maybe I have convinced him of their living and breathing existence. Great TR

Sorry, I thought I mentioned that with pictures. They were testing which would last longer the ice cube or the paper straw.

Don't worry. She gets to see one. Stefanie was excited when her Dad found that tee at the Disney store.

I also spent a bit of time at MouseGears and quite a bit of time trying to get my new Mickey camera strap on my camera, I ended up doing it back at resort
We tried back at the resort to get the strap on and still couldn't get it on, so that is when I decided to return it. I think I worked on it for two days off and on before giving up.

I didn't write in my notes the end results of the experiment, and I have no memory now. Sorry!

The baby warthogs were adorable and they had just come out so they were running around like crazy. At least we got the Tusker House picture packet so it wasn't a total loss.

So I am still learning about the photopass+ Do you still have to pay for the print pictures in order to have the digital ones added to your card when you pay for the photopass+ or do they add the digital ones without needing to buy the print ones? Or does it include the print copies too? I stopped buying the pictures for rides and dining because I just don't have anyplace to display them all. I really just prefer digital pictures these days so I can share with family and friends then I can pick the one or two I want to display from each trip.
Looking forward to hearing more... but might need a tissue alert or have to avoid reading from work, LOL!
The PhotoPass Plus includes the digital pictures and for the dining where there is a package that is included to as a part of the original cost.

I think I'll remember this as the trip of the ducks because of her exuberance over them each time.

I was excited that he was more active but Annn (Luvsun) had the best lion experience on any safari.

No notes on the experiment's results so I can't tell. Sorry! I was actually looking the other way when the giraffe came up beside us, but Heather was quick to say, "Cam, over here."

Any idea why AK was so crowded? Was the the crowd before the park opened?
No idea why the crowd was so big that day. We were running just a little late that morning, but we arrived only about 10 minutes after opening.
