As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

Since ROL will be showing only on Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday, I've got us park hoping to do it. At least for now because they still won't let me make reservation. A TA friend of mine says she expects these to become available on a Monday, but no idea which Monday. I'm still checking every day, but I'm beginning to think they don't plan to firm up the last two months of the year until September.
My fear is it will open up when we're on our trip. I need to book before Sept 11!
Love the Butter chicken! We could also just do the bread service and call it good. So nice that the weather cooled off for you. That must have been heavenly compared to what you had been experiencing.
Sounds like a great rest of the day! You certainly had fun with the Photopass photographer. Dinner at Sanaa looked delicious
It was, especially since we got to dine at Sanaa at the end.

It was heavenly, so much more like we've had on past May trips.

Day 10 Part 1 Saturday, May 6, 2017
Because this was our last full day to enjoy Disney World, we had kept our original FastPass+ plans in order to get quite a bit in before calling quits this evening. We were up by 7:00, ate breakfast in the room, and then headed straight to the bus stops. When we arrived at Epcot, I made it through security fairly quickly, in fact I beat Luke through the scanner. Then we entered the AP entry, which had a myriad of strollers at this time of day, making the line appear to be quite long, but it moved quickly. While waiting for our turn to scan bands, we both noticed the planters pictured below, and wondered how we had missed these on the past two Epcot days. Such a pretty touch to the entrance.
Soon enough we were officially inside and scoping out the topiaries in the flower beds in front of Spaceship Earth. My fascination with yellow flowers continued as you will see. Just today we went to Menard’s where we bought three more yellow flowers to plant in our beds. They were only 50 cents each. Score!
Luke hollered “Monorail” so I’d focus the camera up, and I think I did a decent job of capturing the monorail as it zoomed out of Epcot to disgorge its guests. We were talking recently on one of our walks, realizing as we discussed this trip that we NEVER rode the monorail. No idea what was wrong with us! It’s at the list of top things to do while at WDW in November.
Once the monorail was out of sight, we climbed the hill up toward Spaceship Earth, turning right in Future World to make our way to The Land for FastPass #1, Soarin’. I didn’t take a single photo in this area of the park. We enjoyed Soarin’ Around the World again. I must say that I had gotten a bit blasé about the old film, but the new film as Soarin’ back up there in my top five attractions. It was a short walk to our FastPass #2 which was Living with the Land. I had taken photos the previous trip on this so none were taken today. From here, we headed to the opposite end of Future World for our final FastPass #3, Test Track. For some reason now unknown, I took a photo of Mouse Gear. We may have stopped here momentarily on our way over to TT if there was something we were still looking for. But since we did not make a purchase and therefore there is no receipt, I don’t have a clue why I took the photo.
After having tested our car and zoomed around at 65 MPH on the outside track, we were ready for lunch, which meant entering the World Showcase. We took the walkway near TT that leads straight into Mexico. As we came out in the World Showcase, I noticed The Berry Basked and contemplated getting the Island Grove Blueberry Moscato. I don’t have a receipt for it so I assume I decided against getting it though I’ve no idea why now. I think I would have enjoyed it. Truly, I wish I could remember. But Luke definitely headed to Joffrey’s for the Tiki Torch, which he decided looked perfect for cooling off. He loved it so much, he is hoping it will be available when we return for the F&WF. Just remembered my handy dandy Flower & Garden Festival passport. I had already included this in a pocket of the scrapbook, so I had forgotten about it. A quick check showed me that I did indeed have the Island Grove Blueberry Moscato. Yeah! And I did note that I loved it. Then I was looking over the receipts again and right there was the one for this drink. Well, now I’m just babbling.
Now we both needed some food, and our first stop was Mexico’s Jardin de Fiestas where Luke got the Brocheto de Pollo con Salsa Morita, a grilled chicken with red and green bell peppers served with salsa chile morito mirco cilantro and even edible flowers. He did eat the flowers, and I even had one. He loved the entire thing as it was a good hot as he put it.

Just remembered my handy dandy Flower & Garden Festival passport. I had already included this in a pocket of the scrapbook, so I had forgotten about it. A quick check showed me that I did indeed have the Island Grove Blueberry Moscato. Yeah! And I did note that I loved it.
