As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

We'll be in Epcot on November 15th in the morning too Tara!!! Hope we can meet up to introduce ourselves (I will PM you my cell phone). We're meeting up with Cam and Luke that morning to do Mission Space together which would be so nice if we could all get a group picture!
Sorry you had to go through all that with the room change because of the dogs. I like dogs and have them growing up but I struggle with a dog hair allergy and was not all that thrilled with Disney's decision to try out a few resorts as testers. I hope this doesn't become a resort wide new policy for Disney. In any case, it was so nice of you to switch resorts for the Adlers since I know just how much you love the Yacht Club.
That would be amazing!! It’s okay about switching. I did some research on the Boardwalk and it looks really nice! It’s just too much money to spend to have to worry about Adrienne being nervous. I am so with you on the policy. Even the CM’s I spoke with were a little befuddled. As much as I love Lilly, I can’t imagine enjoying a Disney vacation with her. I much prefer to get her new Pluto bandanas!
So we haven’t even told the Adlers about the resort switch because they honestly won’t care and I would never want them to feel like they caused any stress.
I had to call DME and get new luggage tags for Dave and Adrienne and this was, thankfully, not a problem. The CM assured me that the new tags would be sent out tomorrow and should arrive in plenty of time.
Fortunately, we didn’t have to change any of our plans either! And! We still get to use the International Gateway into Epcot!! We looked at several you tube videos for the Boardwalk as well. I must say it looks really nice!!
Also, try not to laugh but I never realized that your Magic Band just goes where you go!! I had in my brain that it was Resort specific for some reason but then I thought about it and realized that made no sense!
That was funny with the police station! Plans are looking good and glad you had a good CM to get you into the Boardwalk! It's a great resort and I'm sure you'll love it.

I think you’ll like Boardwalk. That’s where we are Nov 5-7.
I’m neutral on the dog decision. I don’t think we would have ever done it - mostly because the fee is more than we paid to board Rory here, AND, he’d get no attention while we were in the parks. He was the center of attention 24/7 at our breeders (where he’d board). Or, you’d have to constantly head back to your room to take care of your dog.
That all said, I am finding it a little funny how up in arms folks are about Disney changing their policy. The DVC FB Page is blowing up.

I have a feeling we will be just fine at the Boardwalk after taking a look at it!. As much as I love Lilly, I’m afraid I agree with people who are against it in this setting. I think there are many people who do not wish to be near them for one reason or another. Especially when paying a fortune to enjoy their vacation. (However, I would only say that on here). In any case, I’m glad things worked out for us. Adrienne really is terrified of them.
I hope you love the Boardwalk. DD, DGrD and I spent a wonderful week there in early Sept to celebrate our Fall Birthdays. We had a one bedroom with a pool/garden view. While we were there we got up close and personal with Hurricane Irma. Let me tell you Disney took such good care of us! We were suppose to leave the Saturday the storm hit at 5:05 and of course they closed the airport at 5! So we had 3+ extra days extended to our trip. DGrD received some special Disney magic when she was gifted a one day park hopper ticket. DD and I have annual passes but DGrD did not. Her tickets were used up since our vacation was suppose to be over. When we heard they were opening the parks on Tuesday and we couldn't leave until Wednesday we were going to buy her a one day ticket. But, the CM we spoke with at guest services arrange for her to have it as a special birthday gift! Oh, and for as many times as we had to add on a night or two to our reservation, Boardwalk and DVC came through for us! Never had to change rooms either. DH and I have been there several times and have had wonderful experiences. Celebrated our 48th anniversary there a couple of years ago and they spoiled us with cards, candy, cookies, etc.
Now that I've shared all that I hope that is the pixie dust needed for you all to have a great time!

That’s an awesome story, Barb!! I am more than sure that it will!!!
I’m so glad it worked out Tara. I’m sure Adrienne is not the only guest with a fear of dogs. Thank goodness you realized the problem now before you got down there and it could have been too late to do something!!
