I Don’t Wanna Grow Up – 30th Birthday Trip x2, August 7-11, 2010 - Page 60 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

WOW! the room was just amazing and those free gifts????? WOW....I know I wont get that because we aren't staying club level but I hope I get the free chocolate that you had Also, I am assuming that last pic was turndown service. I'm totally requesting that! Tell me again do I need to request it daily or say I would like it for the whole trip?
I the watch! I'm so glad Mike liked the decorations! They were just great!
Okay so the sleigh I did not know about but how awesome! Looks like a fun day

What a great job the staff at AK did with your birthday decorations! Sounds like Sci Fi was yummy! I had to go make dinner before reading anymore! Keep it coming!
So glad you all snagged the sleigh for parade viewing, so comfy with a great view of the floats. The decorations are awesome as is the turn down service!
You are looking great - I bet you can't wait for the big arrival.
So sorry Mousekeeping threw out your cup. I know what you mean about SciFi, I feel the same way about Prime Time Cafe - it is a must do for us each trip.
Love the decorations - awesome.
The sleigh is a great location I'm gonna have to try that on my next trip. Glad you liked MSEP as it is my favorite. I've never been a big fan of Spectro - simply because I EP so much.
The decorations look great and love the watch! Guess I will be the only one to comment on the pacifier story!! ha! I do agree with you but I guess thats just our opinion. I got Sam off the pacifier right after he turned 2, I think I had actually asked you back then how you had done it. Anyway, he too only had them at night and nap and after a week without them, he totally forgot! I have a friend with a son one month younger and she is afraid to take it away because he throws a fit at night for it, but yet he doesn't use it for naps at daycare! So I think its just her. Anyhoo! Good to know about the sleigh! Question about sci-fi, we have never eaten there, but it looks really neat and the food sounds good, what do you think about it with toddlers though, do you think they could get scared by the movie clips? I am thinking Sam would love to sit in the car to eat.

Okay, first off, I had posted something yesterday but I had used the quote function and must have not pressed post after reviewing it! UGH!
So for yesterday, I had agreed with Laurie about y'all looking like a couple of teenagers in your drive-in car. And we love Sci- Fi too. The food there has always been good and we absolutely love the atmosphere! I may have to try the Reuben though next time I go, Mike's looked so yummy!! In Oct., DMom and I are trying Hollywood Brown Derby's Cobb Salad and the Grapefruit Cake everyone raves about for the first time.
And for today - The AKL IPO did a great job decorating y'all's room and how awesome they included a few extras! They have always provided great service, that's why I love AKL sooo much (well the Savannah views are another big factor).
Loved your pics of the Electrical Parade. I can't wait to see this in Oct. I grew up on that parade with visits to Disney Land and was sad when WDW first announced that it was only a summer time thing. Then they announced that they would extend it and I was thrilled!! I will have to keep that viewing spot in mind.
I also agree that riding HM at night just makes it all that more awesome. I even get the chills some times!! PotC is my favorite MK ride too. I can ride it over and over again. Last year my poor DMom was like, can we ride something else please? We were at the MVMCP and there was NO wait. Plus at that time I only had the May 2011 trip planned so I thought it was going to be a year and a half before I was gonna get to ride it again.
Soon you'll see photos of that Cobb Salad and Grapfruite cake.

I think request for your stay would be fine. I'm sure they can tell you when you check-in, so at least you'll get the little squares of chocolate then.

can't wait to hear more.
I'm SO ready for the big day! Yesterday I had to put a tank on underneath my shirt or my belly was going to hang out and the buttons were about to pop! We're planning on trying PTC on our next trip! Glad you like it so much!

I found out that there were a lot of kids who had pacis at home, but not at daycare (Dylan being one of them). He took it pretty well and doesn't ask for it anymore - I recently got one out while he was in the room with me for Lukas and he didn't say anything about it then either. Dylan's been to Sci-Fi every time he's gone (3 times) and hasn't ever been scared. They're not really scary clips. Although Mike & Dylan have a game at home where they're monsters or dinosaurs and roar at each other so he's not too phased by it. [So I had to add this story: We've let Dylan watch Jurassic Park (Yeah, I know.) but he likes it and is not phased in the least about dinos eating people. Night at the Museum on the otherhand we couldn't get past the scene in the beginning with the lions because he was too scared of them. Go figure.]
the decorations & all the great gifts you got!! Awesome watch!!! What did Mike think of the Vinylmation? Great viewing spot for the parade ( I learn soooo much here!) Can't wait to read more!!!
I do love me a reuben, and that looked delish! And a birthday sundae!! Awesome, all I got was a rock...I mean cupcake (sorry had to drop the Peanuts reference there ).
I LOVE the atmosphere in Sci-Fi, but all of a sudden my two little ones have become sci-fi sissies. Go figure.
Love the decorations, the free presents and your watch!! Very cool!! (and the free Swirl to boot!)
Yeah, HM at night is just a bit more spooky...in a good way.
So nice to hear that people gave up their seat for you on the bus. As it should be.

Mike liked his Vinylmation - there will be more with the Vinylmation on his actual birthday.

I hope the boys come around soon so you can go to Sci-Fi again. And I haven't forgotten about sending you the cd's - my goal is to do that this weekend.
That is funny about the movies. Sam doesn't seem to phased by scary things either. He watches Night at the Museum part 1 and 2, has always laughed at monsters inc even when they scare the kids. Its funny how many disney movies have scary parts in them, he watched Alladin for the first time the other day, as well as Cinderella and Mary Poppins! He always gets stuck on his favorites, so I have been trying to introduce all of them so he really knows the characters when we return!

Congratulations on soon-to-be baby #2! I too love the year 1980, but not because I was born that year, because I graduated that year! I've really enjoyed reading your trip report so far and look forward to your next update!

Dylan is the same way with movies. We cannot get him to watch Jungle Book for anything! I did get him to watch Dumbo and then we had to watch it for the next 3 days in a row too. He's seen Aladdin too. Currently we're stuck on Planet 51, not a Disney movie, but still a movie we have to watch repeatedly.
