As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!
Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

Oh, Jill, I am so sorry you missed Everest. Wish our timing would have been better and we would have been there the same day. You could have hung on to me for the drop and then talked me into opening my eyes when the Yeti came out!
Love the pictures at Donald's. That one of Mary Devall hugging Pluto is too cute!
And what a crowd for a day in January in AK! It was bad on Thursday too, but Saturday sounds like it was much worse!
Oh, I love the picture of Mary Devall at the Primevil Whirl height requirement sign. You should take her back each trip and take a picture of her there so you can see how much she has grown! What a great growth marker that would make!

Maybe I should try to be the next Baby Bjorn spokesperson! Or Thom - - I think he ended up carrying her in it more than I did!
My baby is getting to be quite the roly poly, so I don't know if she would even fit in it now.

Wow - coaster interuptus! I know how that can be... I need a strong arm to hold onto the first time (I practically crushed DHs hand the first time on Soarin' and almost grabbed Zack on Tower of Terror last week.)
Can't wait for more!

Day Three Part Two
When you last left us, my parents had returned to BCV with Maddie and Thom, Mary Devall and I were left at AK to see what trouble we could get into . . .
So . . . Mary Devall didn’t want to see Pochahantas and didn’t want to see FOTLK, but she did want to see all of the characters at Camp Mickey Minnie. I do love this greeting area - - so peaceful and laid back compared to the craziness of other greeting areas across WDW. Not a lot of people were around, so we did get to spend some quality time with each of the characters – especially Goofy. I forgot to say that Mary Devall had turned into an Indian princess while I was gone "almost" riding EE (in case you're wondering what is on her forehead ).
We stopped for an ice cream break for me afterwards since I hadn’t had any lunch. Of course, when the CM saw the “DVC member” on my room key she had to ask if I had been on EE. I answered “No, but my husband did.” I’ll ride on his coattails for a while.
Mary Devall had never been in the Boneyard and I wanted to ride Dinosaur, so we headed back to Dinoland. On the way, we stopped to say hello to some old friends.
Thom took Mary Devall to dig in the Boneyard while I went in the standby line of Dinosaur. It posted a 25 minute wait, but within 10 minutes, I was watching the preshow. When I got to the front of the line for a car and said “1,” the CM asked me to wait and had two people go in front of me. There was a group of three people behind me and the woman told the CM that I could ride with them. I thought that was nice of them, but it totally unrattled the CM. She asked me twice “Are you sure?” Yeah, I don’t think they’re going to kill me on the ride, but I could be mistaken. So, I took a walk on the wild side and rode in a row with perfect strangers (as if I wouldn’t be doing that anyway ). Once seated, the woman who had offered and I had a good laugh about the CM being a bit leery. She even gave me a fast pass for the ride that someone in their party decided not to use.
I had not been on this ride since I was pregnant with Mary Devall (I didn’t heed the warning about not riding if you were pregnant, but I soon realized that I probably should have ) and I really enjoyed. I don’t like big drops, but you can toss me around all day and I’m a happy camper . I liked it so much that I went back and forth as to whether to offer the fast pass to Thom or use it myself. I decided to be generous and see if he wanted to use it - - if he showed any signs of hesitation, then I was going back .
Of course, I had to find him first before I could offer him the fast pass and that was a feat in itself. I looked and looked all over the Boneyard with no success. I finally saw a bridge that would take you over to the dig site. There I found Mary Devall putting her shoes back on, so I figured that’s where they had been the entire time. Thom quickly took me up on the Dinosaur fast pass while I chased Mary Devall up and down and all around the Boneyard. After watching her try to copy everything that an older boy was doing on the baby slide (sliding down backwards, sliding down standing, etc.), I managed to pull her away while she was still in one piece .
While we were standing in line for Tricertop Spin, Thom came up on the other side of the railing and said how much he liked Dinosaur and was amazed that he had never ridden it.
“Yes, you have.”
“When.”
“With me five years ago when I was pregnant with Mary Devall.”
“Oh! I swear I don’t remember it.”
He remembers every high school and college that every professional athlete ever attended, but he doesn’t remember going on Dinosaur. Simply amazing!
Thom had not bought a souvenir for himself on our trip and he kept talking about a polo shirt with a very small logo on it (he’s really into very small, subtle logos - - like "they may as well not be there" logos ) that he saw in the gift shop at EE. He really wanted to go back to the gift shop and buy it, so off he went to EE. Mary Devall and I rode Triceratop Spin a couple of times and then took a break for her to have an ice cream cookie sandwich (I have created a monster). That little thing ate every bite but one of that entire ice cream sandwich (and I had to beg for that little bite ). While we were riding Triceratop Spin one more time, we spotted Thom coming back and waved to him from high in the sky (okay, we also screamed his name several times like country come to town ). When we met up with him after the ride, he told us that the shirt turned out to be a woman’s shirt. I noticed that he didn’t seem too disappointed and realized why when he said “But I did get to ride again.” When he was leaving the shop, he noticed that the single rider lane was almost empty and took advantage of it. If anything, he liked it even better.
On the way out of the park, we wanted to stop at one of the stores and buy Maddie one of the Pooh shirts where he’s looking at a tiger through a magnifying glass and asking “Is that you, Tigger?” I that shirt. While in there, Mary Devall decided that she wanted to buy her Disney souvenir here. Just taking a poll here, but should I be worried that she picked out Scar and no amount of convincing could sway her ? She’s not headed down a path of corruption, is she?
It was almost closing time at AK - - and the first time that I had ever opened and closed a park in one day .
Mary Devall and I even met up with a bear on the way out.
We had an ADR at Le Cellier at 7 p.m. so we had just enough time to make it back to BCV, pick up the rest of our crew and head out again . . . which is exactly what we did.
Mary Devall and I stopped at the shop at the International Gateway to pick up her latest batch of stickers to keep her occupied while we dined at Le Cellier (hey, it worked like a dream at The Brown Derby) while the rest of the family went out to check us in. By the time that Mary Devall and I arrived, we were checked in and waiting for our table so the two of us moved on to the Kidcot station where she decorated a mask (this was our first visit at one of these stations). Before she could even finish, they were paging us for dinner.
After our long day, I immediately ordered a glass of wine and it was so good. I finally decided that I was going to try the cheese soup. It was delicious! For my entrée, I had the butternut squash risotto. It was good, but oh so rich (not a good choice after the soup and a lunch of ice cream). I could barely eat any of it and think I would have done better with a steak . . . especially when I cut Thom’s steak for him (he had Maddie in the Baby Bjorn) and it looked so good. Mary Devall was absolutely worn out and being a bit whiney, so my parents took her back to the room after they had finished dinner. Thom and I stayed behind since he had ordered a piece of the chocolate cake for dessert and I had ordered a second glass of wine (remember I am a member of the Epcot lush club and our leader was sitting only a few tables away from us I had to keep up appearances for the sake of the club.).
Speaking of the Epcot lush club leader, who should appear right before me as I exited the bathroom, but Rachel and Wally! I fessed up to my quick exit from EE, but they were still willing to be seen with me so I figured it was okay. Rachel also dropped by our table before she left to say goodbye and she took a picture of our sleeping Maddie.
It was nice just sitting at the table and talking over chocolate and wine (does it get much better? ) while our baby dozed away. We paid the bill and left right before Illuminations started. The beating drums started just as we were passing England and we just knew the noise was going to wake up Maddie, but it never did. When we got back to our room, Mary Devall was already snuggled up I bed with my mom watching tv, so we all said good night.
