Forums Closed

As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!
Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

Re: Macy\'s Surprise Trip - The Adventure Begins
Sorry for the huge delay everyone! I am trying to get back on track with this now that the holidays are over.
Our first full day - Friday, October 28
Magic Kingdom here we come!
Mickey and Stitch woke us up really early since today was morning Extra Magic Hour in Magic Kingdom. I hopped out of bed (yes, I am a morning person) and made coffee. We dressed and by 7:15 we were heading out the door.
It was a very short walk from our room to the bus stop.
We were the only ones there waiting for the bus (probably because the sun wasn’t even up yet). There was a CM there who greated us and asked where we were headed. We told him Magic Kingdom. He got on his radio and called someone to find out when the next bus would be arriving. I have never seen a CM do this before so I was thinking they may have been having complaints about the wait for the buses or something. We did have to wait about 10 minutes for our bus but that was fine since we were early anyway. Here are a couple of shots we took while waiting for the bus:
The bus arrived, we loaded on with 5 or 6 other people who had walked up in the last couple of minutes, made a quick stop at Riverside and then headed for Magic Kingdom. As we passed the Contemporary, Macy said “Look mom, our hotel.” Since we stayed there for our first two trips, we fondly call it our hotel. Hopefully we will be staying there again before too long (but after the renovations are done).
Once we got to Magic Kingdom, we had to wait 10 or so minutes for the park to open but it was a nice morning so we just enjoyed it and did some people watching.
The opening ceremony always makes me a little teary eyed. We counted down and within a couple of minutes we were getting our first views of Main Street and the Castle.
There was some sort of CM Award function going on in front of the castle which we were invited to attend by some of the Disney officials but Macy was ready for some rides so we headed to Fantasyland. We were pretty much able to hit all the attractions there within 45 minutes as there were no lines to be found. We were all smiling from ear to ear. We headed to Tink’s Treasures shortly before 9 to see Tinkerbell wake up but she had already been awakeened, so we did a bit of shopping instead. Next we headed for the Teacups which was a two thumbs up for Macy, of course, and two thumbs down from my sister. Kim said it made her really dizzy and we weren’t even spinning all that much. It is a good thing she was not riding with Charlie!! Now we headed into Toontown. The wait for Barnstormer was about 5 minutes so we did that first and then toured Mickey and Minnie’s houses and then did some shopping. Here are a few pictures from our morning:
It was now getting close to 10:00 and time for us to head over to Crystal Palace for our breakfast with Tigger and friends. Tigger is my sister’s favorite Disney character so she was really looking forward to this. Here are a couple of pictures we took along the way:
Next up: 10/28 Day 1, Part 2 - Finally meeting Tigger!!!!

Re: Macy\'s Surprise Trip - The Adventure Begins
Day 1 (October 28) – Part Two Breakfast with Tigger
We did a little shopping on Main Street and then headed to Crystal Palace to check in for our breakfast. My sister was excited about getting to meet her favorite Tigger. We were also pretty hungry by this time. We waited about 10 minutes for a table and, once seated, wasted no time getting our plates served. I think we managed to sample a little bit of everything and, as usual, the food was wonderful and very fresh even though this was one of the later seating times for breakfast. The characters came around one by one and my sister got to meet her Tigger. Here are a few of the pictures:
I was a bit disappointed because he was definitely not the most playful Tigger we have experienced.
Now that our tummies were full we were ready for more rides.
We decided to hit Tomorrowland. The wait time for Stitch was about 20 minutes so we got fastpasses and headed for Buzz which only had a 10 minute wait. My sister loved Buzz and hated Stitch. Macy still loves both! We looked at our picture from Buzz but Macy’s face was hidden by one of the guns since I was sitting in the middle and Macy and Kim were on either side of me. We decided we would ride this again on Halloween night in our costumes and put Macy in the middle so we could see her face. Stay tuned for the results of that!!
By this time the park was really starting to get busy. Macy wanted to ride Barnstormer again so we decided to head that way. Big mistake because Toontown was really crowded and the line for Barnstormer was pretty long. We decided to head over to the Judge’s Tent to do some more shopping instead. After that we hopped on the train and headed back to the front of the park. Macy was ready for some swimming so we could head back to POFQ. We also had a carriage ride scheduled for later that evening so we wanted to check out the resort more before that.
The bus ride back to the hotel was quick as was the walk back to our room. We really liked having a room on the first floor and not having to deal with elevators or stairs. We changed into our swimsuits quickly, walked over to the poolside bar for a few drinks and then found some chairs near the Sea Serpent Slide which Macy was dying to ride. The sun was nice and warm but the water in the pool was way too cold for my liking. I was only able to stay in for about 10 minutes but by then Macy had made a couple of friends and was happily sliding and swimming. Here are a few pictures:
After a few hours, it was time to head inside to change. We were going to get dinner from Sassagoula Float Works before the carriage ride.
Next up: Ohhh, beignets!

Great pictures! You're making me long for Magic Kingdom SO much!
Macy is so beautiful - - Mary Devall was just talking about her last night on the way home - - and she wasn't "that girl" this time, but Macy.
