As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!
Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

Re: Iamgrumpy does MOA a Trip Report! Updated 10/20 Completed!!!
Here goes:
Monday 10/03
So I woke up early today I wanted to make the most of it as it was my last day in Minnesota! I packed up everything that was left and put on my bathing suit as I wanted to take a dip before checking out. Lisa and I had arranged a shuttle for 1pm and we were allowed to check out at 1pm as well. So at 9:30ish I went to Lisa’s room and we went down to breakfast where I had an omelet and some bacon, an English muffin and fruit salad. Food was good today and we paid with our free breakfast coupons.
After breakfast we went to the pool and spent two hours talking and giggling over our plans for a trip October 2006. At Noon we sadly said our goodbyes to the pool and went to get ready for our trips home. I packed my suit and got ready and watched tv for a few minutes before meeting Lisa and heading downstairs to meet the shuttle.
I called home and my mom had confirmed my flights and they were on time too bad it didn’t stay that way more on that later. We went downstairs and checked out at the Front desk and thanked them for a great stay. ( Oh I almost forgot- the girl that worked late at night Kendra had called us in our rooms and we took a survey and about 10 minutes later she showed up with Hershey Hugs and Kisses as a thank you for us!! CHOCOLATE!!!!) The gentleman who was working (same gorgeous eye candy from check in) let us know that the shuttle was at 1pm and we waited and waited and waited. Go to find out the driver was late because the person who called from the airport never showed up and he was waiting needlessly for them. SO he rushed back and picked up Lisa , myself, and a mother with her son who were flying home to Indiana. We had ridden the shuttle one night with them and it was her son’s birthday weekend and they were having a blast!
The Shuttle driver asked what airlines we all were taking and Lisa and the mother/son were taking Northwest and I was on American Airlines. I was dropped off first and I said a sad goodbye to Lisa and wished the others a safe travel. I tipped the driver and made my way to the check in counter. You were dropped off on the left side of the road and you couldn’t cross the road otherwise you would get a jaywalking ticket so you had to go into the garage up to the walk way across the walkway and then back down to the other side of the road. (I made a few “so this is how the chicken crossed the road” comments)
I made it to the check in counter and printed my boarding pass and spoke with the agent who helps you with the self check in kiosk. She noted my ticket in the system that I needed help getting to the gate in Chicago as it was going to be too much for me to walk. My knees were in so much pain from all the walking over the weekend and the marathon run on the way out to Minnesota. They were so helpful and nice at the Minnesota Airport! Well, I took my bags and made my way through the security line maze and showed my Picture ID to the guard and then put it in my bag. I put my bag on the belt, and put my personal bag on the belt along with my phone, shoes, and change. I walked through the x-ray machine and waited and waited and waited. What could possibly be taking so long? Well they put my shoes through so I could put them on my feet were cold. And I waited and waited some more. They screened my carry on luggage bag 15 times I had to explain what everything was and it was decided that my two Camp Snoopy 13 inch Pencils next to my mom’s bracelet and flip flops were just in the wrong positions and tightly packed that they had to make sure and I did not blame them one bit! I just thanked my mom for changing her mind on the rolling pin! Could you imagine!
I made my way to the electric cart that was waiting for me and he drove me to the gate which of course was the farthest one from where I started! But I made it and I walked back to Burger King to have Lunch! Boy am I glad I ate lunch as it was going to be a long time till dinner! I finished my lunch and walked across the way to the little gift shop and bought a thimble for my grandma (it was so cute! It was a Moose on top of the thimble and was just perfect) and a crossword book. It was only about 3:30 when I realized if I didn’t stop I would finish all 100 puzzles before my plane left at 4:45..What its not leaving till 5 now? I spoke with the gate agent and she was very nice she had lost a lot of weight and we spoke about how I am going to be going in for Weight Loss Surgery. She was so nice she arranged for me to have a seat where no one was sitting next to me so I wouldn’t be uncomfortable or cramped. I also was allowed to pre-board. She arranged the same thing for my flight from Chicago to Hartford! Sweet!
Continued in the next post to help with long posts!

Re: Iamgrumpy does MOA a Trip Report! Updated 10/20 Completed!!!
At 4:35 I was led down and was able to get seated and settled. We took off right at 5pm and It was a short flight to Chicago and again I got flack for wanting a whole can of sprite…geez folks I am a very thirsty person (plus had a two hour layover and wanted to save it for then) They would not give me one but oh well I survived. We landed and I waited for the rest of the plane to get off and then made my way to the door and up the ramp and I stood there and looked around for the person who was supposed to help me and looked and looked…no one was there. So I was going to try and walk but as soon as I walked about 5 ft a young kid who looked like he was not a day over 16 and like 90lbs soaking wet walks up and asks if I am waiting for assistance…yeah but are you sure about this? He says no problems and off we go to the new terminal. He checked what gate and of course brings me to the wrong one Luckily it was just a quick walk to the right one and I sat and sat and sat waiting when they announce that the plane is delayed! Phooey! As it was I wasn’t going to be home until 11:30 and now I will be lucky if I get in before Midnight.
I made a quick trip the restrooms and I looked in the gift shop...nothing hit my eye since My mom took trips to Chicago before so I didn’t need any more things from there. I went back to the gate and found out that I had the entire row of seats to myself as no one was assigned the window and I had the Aisle and they blocked the middle from being assigned (thank you nice Minnesota Gate Agent!)
We finally boarded just before 9pm and I was exhausted already. I had been up since 8 am that day and I had been at the airport since 2pm way to long but the trip was worth it! The Flight was smooth I fell asleep and woke up in CT as we were preparing to land. It was just Midnight. The pilot had good winds as he made up a lot of the time we lost sitting at Chicago O’hare… I would have rather been at ‘Ohana but sigh just a dream!
My Mom was supposed to have her Knee Replacement Early Tuesday Morning but luckily for her and I it was rescheduled to the Thursday that week. So she went to my Aunt’s house and waited for my plane. She left at 11:45 and went to Mcdonald’s I had given her my dinner order before I left Chicago and she met me at the Airport when I Landed. We drove home uneventfully. I was exhausted but when I got home I had to get online and check the boards I had 4 days of posts to catch up on!
Well with this update it completes the report! I had a great time and met great friends and did lots of shopping. The few mishaps were out numbered by great times! I would love to go again but 2006 is busy for my mom and I and I have few trips in the works that I won’t be able to but I hope 2007 will see me back at the MOA meet!
The Best thing today was… Sleeping in my own bed ( nothing beats home)
The worst thing today was… Security and the delays
The Funniest thing today was… thinking about what would happen if I had bought the rolling pin!
The saddest thing today was… saying goodbye to Lisa!
Thanks for Reading and See you next time!
Amy

Re: Iamgrumpy does MOA a Trip Report! Updated 10/20 Completed!!!
I enjoyed hearing about the MOA meet from your perspective.
It sounds like you had a nice trip home and had some nice agents! I know it stinks to get delayed, but you got on an earlier flight on the way there, so maybe it all evens out.
Hope to see you next year.
