Mema and Papa are doing WHAT? PTR - UPDATED 8/15 - Page 6 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Can't wait to see you and Bob! And Dave definitely would love to catch up before you leave...any match-ups?
I will have to sit down and write up the final...and I hope I mean final...plans! Won't be long now!
In my previous update, I was awaiting our Wednesday FP+ day. On Sunday, I logged on to select a few things for the days I would be there before the rest arrived. I was goofing off and said, “Let’s see if it allows me to book for days beyond the 4 I am there. And it DID! Wait, what? Well, let’s see if it will let me book it for everyone, AND IT DID! Now I’m excited, and kind of at sixes and sevens, not sure what to think. But I knew what to do! I booked those fastpasses! If nothing else, it was good practice and I could go back and re-do them if they disappeared later!
A few minor changes occurred while I was online and some seat-of-the-pants juggling, but I think we have a pretty good plan in place!
Sunday 25 Sept.
Remains the same, check in, pool time, dinner at WCC at 5:25 then back to the room for an early night so we can get an early start in the morning.
Monday 26 Sept.
Up early, breakfast in the room, MK for rope drop.
Photo pass photos, visit Mickey, see what we might be able to ride without FP. Then onto the monorail to Epcot around 11.
Epcot:
Spaceship Earth 12:10-1:10
Meet Disney Pals 1:50-2:50
Test Track 3:05-4:05
Probably eat around the World for lunch. The littles are good eaters and always will try something once!
Then hop onto a boat to DHS for dinner
Minnie’s Seasonal Dine at H&V 5:15
Hoping to then pop out and find a good spot for the fireworks if they are having them. Park closes at 7:30. We will either head back to the resort or Epcot depending on how everyone is feeling.
Tuesday 27 Sept.
In room breakfast
The plan still calls for Blizzard Beach fun. Lunch at one of the counter services at BB. Leave early afternoon and return to room for a rest, then head to Animal Kingdom around 5:30.
Tusker House dinner – 7 PM
Safari Spectacular starts at 9PM –Midnight. We will see how long the littles last after a day at BB!!
Wednesday 28 Sept.
In room breakfast
Disney Hollywood Studios
Toy Story Mania 9:10-10-10
Muppet Vision 3D 10:20-11:20
Star Tours 11:55-12:55 –this may be just Papa and DGS, but hoping to talk DGD into trying. If not, we may wander around and take some photos.
Lunch maybe counter service at the Backlot.
Once this is done, hoping to head to see Kylo Ren and Chewie if we didn’t see them on Monday. The schedule for this and the fireworks are not available. Make us make these plans so far in advance and not give us all the info we need to do so is getting really tiresome. Rant over.
Then head back to Epcot for dinner.
Garden Grill – 4:45 (I’m gonna keep checking and see if I can slide this a bit later)
I did try to switch everything on Monday and Wednesday around but it just didn’t work. Besides, we don’t mind the boat ride between the two parks. We may try to see if we can get a fp to Soarin’ once we get done over at DHS. Then early night back to room as another late night is a’comin’!
Thursday 29 Sept.
Magic Kingdom all day and night!
Buzz Lightyear 9:20-10-20
7DMT- 10:35-11;35
Barnstormer 11:55-12:55
Lunch is Casey’s Hot Dogs!! Must have my Casey fix!!
We may take a break here and walk back to BL and go into the pool, or take a nap, or we may find something else to ride. (the carousel!!! ) It will depend on how everyone is feeling, temperature, all that good stuff. I want to also get a start on our packing
Then, it’s dinner
Liberty Tree Tavern 4:45 (again, I’d like to see if I can push it a bit later. Right now the only other option appears to be 6:45, and I don’t want to wait that late.)
Then we have MNSSHP!!! Will the littles make it to the end?
Friday 30 Sept.
Departure day.
Up early, breakfast, finish packing then take bags to airline precheck.
A quick walk over to MK, which has morning magic hours today, so doubt we will make rope drop, especially after a late night the night before.
Jungle Cruise 9-10
Haunted Mansion 10:10-11:10 (I hope the scrim is down!)
It’s a Small World” 11:15-12:15. Papa is definitely not keen on this one, but it’s for the littles, so he’s sucking it up. I’m sure I will have a lip poking out a bit at me.
It’s a tight race to lunch at
Jungle Navigation Co. Skipper Canteen…12:20.
After lunch, its back to BL to await our Tragical Express ride to the airport…it will probably be around 2 as our flight is 4:55.
I’m done changing things. These are the plans, good, bad or indifferent! I’m also currently juggling plans for a January trip and I find myself losing track of what I am doing. I may still try to shift the 4:45 dinners (GG and LTT) to a bit later, but it’s ok if I can’t.
WE are 55 days away, I’m getting excited! I have a work trip next week, so that should help the time pass, though I’m not a fan of week-long seminars, I’ve managed to avoid them the last few years, it figures my luck ran out. So I’m off to Columbia, South Carolina. In August. Yay! It’s just helping keep me ‘in shape’ for WDW in Sept!
I don’t think there will be any additional updates on this PTR. I think we are set!
Thanks for reading!
Plans look great!
Ugh, stay cool in Columbia. We're headed there the 12th to move our oldest back down to school for his second year at USC. I always think DC is so hot and humid, but it is so much more bearable than Columbia. Hope you don't have to go far between your hotel and seminars.

How funny! I'm leaving to come home on the 12th, and I will be at USC!! I'm at a seminar at the National Advocacy Center there on campus from the 8-12 of August. Luckily, our rooms are right there in the same building as the meeting rooms. I only have to go out of an evening for dinner as breakfast and lunch are provided. And they have the BEST food! If it's too horrible outside, I can get by with a salad from the bar and call it good. Lunch is mostly the main meal for me when I go.
Love your plans! Now for a couple of months to elapse so you can live them! I had to check, but now I'm excited. We are in MK on the morning of September 30 and our FP+ time for Haunted Mansion overlaps a bit with yours. Ours are for 10:45-11:45. Can we meet????
