Forums Closed
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.

So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.

Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.

We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.

There are other changes as well.

Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.

It's time to move on and move forward.

PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.

But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.

So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.

And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.

That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

I don't remember the shark lagoon from when I was there but I did go down the Mayan Temple like slide into the fish tank which was the scariest slide I've ever done in my life but it was pretty cool to go through the shark tank!!

I can't remember for sure if it was there the last time I visited either. I want to say yes, because I remember going down the steps which lead to it.

I started walking a little faster now. I wanted to enjoy all this, but I knew we were getting closer to our meet time. We would just have to come back out here after the tour.

We finally made it into the bar/restaurant area. I think I took this exact same picture last time we were here.

bah33 by Jenseib, on Flickr

I was now walking ahead of the rest of them…kind of like the one kid who is always ahead of the family. LOL. Hey guys I found the steps to go down and look at the sharks…we should come back and do this after our tour!

On I went, with my slow pokes following behind.

atlantis163 by Jenseib, on Flickr

A quick hi to the rays.

atlantis164 by Jenseib, on Flickr

I waited at the top of the steps for the rest to catch up.

And a quick walk back and through the casino.

atlantis170 by Jenseib, on Flickr

atlantis171 by Jenseib, on Flickr

atlantis172 by Jenseib, on Flickr

And back through the shopping area.

atlantis173 by Jenseib, on Flickr

atlantis175 by Jenseib, on Flickr

We arrived at the lobby and looked around. I didn’t see anyone who looked like they were waiting on us so I asked at the desk where I would find Karen. She pointed me over to another desk because she said she had just been over there. That guy found Karen for me and we all introduced ourselves and I did tell he we had an extra and hoped that was ok. She was fine with it.

She handed us each a little bit of paperwork, basically brochures/map type things and took us over to a table in the lobby and then proceeded to tell us a bit about Atlantis in general and what we would be doing today.

atlantis176 by Jenseib, on Flickr

I LOVE this couch!

atlantis177 by Jenseib, on Flickr

Then she took us to the elevator and we headed up in the Coral tower to tour a room.

atlantis178 by Jenseib, on Flickr

atlantis179 by Jenseib, on Flickr

atlantis180 by Jenseib, on Flickr

The rooms are spacious! I believe she told us later that all of the Coral Tower is being refurbished later this summer. And I mean all, rooms, lobby, etc! They are going to actually close the tower down during this time.

atlantis181 by Jenseib, on Flickr

atlantis182 by Jenseib, on Flickr

atlantis183 by Jenseib, on Flickr

Now Atlantis has several price points and different towers cost different prices. I believe the Beach Tower is the entry level and that building was much smaller looking (from the outside) than I had thought it would be. We never went in there. Next up would be Coral. Coral is pretty popular as it is closer to a lot of things and still at a lower price point. That being said, Atlantis is an expensive resort.

Love the photos of the lagoon area. This resort reminds me in some ways of the Bellagio and Venetian resorts in Las Vegas. Sort of has that Italian influence in there.

It's interesting to see the photos of the rooms. While they may be spacious, the décor doesn't exactly shout luxury to me, if you know what I mean?

I didn't feel the rooms were luxurious when I stayed there, especially for the price we paid, but maybe with the refurbishment they will have more of wow feel to them.

I definitely think the outside is beautiful here. Never been to Vegas...yet...so I can't compare.

I agree. For the price, even though this is a lower priced room its still pricey and I would really expect more.

The nice thing about Atlantis is a room with a view is not too hard to come by, no matter where you room is.

atlantis190 by Jenseib, on Flickr

atlantis191 by Jenseib, on Flickr

bah37 by Jenseib, on Flickr

What a view!

bah38 by Jenseib, on Flickr

Karen would point out some things too so we had a better lay of the land.

atlantis192 by Jenseib, on Flickr

atlantis193 by Jenseib, on Flickr

atlantis194 by Jenseib, on Flickr

I had my DSLR with me today and I could zoom in on different areas. I am glad I had carried it today.

atlantis195 by Jenseib, on Flickr

atlantis196 by Jenseib, on Flickr

atlantis197 by Jenseib, on Flickr

atlantis198 by Jenseib, on Flickr

atlantis199 by Jenseib, on Flickr

Back inside the room Karen pointed out the mini fridge.

atlantis200 by Jenseib, on Flickr

We also chatted and asked some questions and then moved on. I wasn’t good about taking room number pictures but I believe this was the room we had just been in.

atlantis201 by Jenseib, on Flickr

And on we went.

atlantis202 by Jenseib, on Flickr

We headed down. Atlantis has monitors displaying flight information for people so they can check their flight info when needed. They also have a lounge for airport check in, etc.

atlantis203 by Jenseib, on Flickr

atlantis204 by Jenseib, on Flickr

She took us down a flight of stairs to the lower level of the Coral Tower where Crush, the teen club is.

This kiosk is where you sign the kids up. This has a cost. Also when signing up they have to have proof of age with a birth certificate and/or passport.

atlantis205 by Jenseib, on Flickr

She said this place is so cool and popular that adults wanted to come so now they have some times with adult/family activities and then select times for just the teens.

atlantis206 by Jenseib, on Flickr

atlantis207 by Jenseib, on Flickr

From the kiosk we moosied down the hall towards the actual club, passing one of the many Starbucks.

atlantis208 by Jenseib, on Flickr

Karen went in a side door and said she would come around the front to let us in.

atlantis209 by Jenseib, on Flickr

This speedway is right next to Crush and you can design and build a car and then race it. Kind of like a build a bear for guys.

atlantis210 by Jenseib, on Flickr

atlantis211 by Jenseib, on Flickr

Karen came around and opened the doors and we were let in the entryway.

atlantis212 by Jenseib, on Flickr

Brook then had another one of her coughing fits and we were all scrambling looking for water. Karen went off and stole a bottle from the Crush refreshment area and I believe Ellen had a bottle as well and soon Brook was under control again. It really was a bad coughing fit, but with a little water she was able to start breathing again.

atlantis213 by Jenseib, on Flickr

We moved around the club and Karen pointed out things and explained how it all worked.

atlantis214 by Jenseib, on Flickr

atlantis215 by Jenseib, on Flickr

atlantis216 by Jenseib, on Flickr

atlantis217 by Jenseib, on Flickr

atlantis218 by Jenseib, on Flickr

This place was huge and had so much to offer.

atlantis219 by Jenseib, on Flickr

atlantis220 by Jenseib, on Flickr

atlantis221 by Jenseib, on Flickr

atlantis222 by Jenseib, on Flickr

We continued with our Crush tour.

atlantis223 by Jenseib, on Flickr

They had chairs all around this and kids could play video games. A few commented on their husbands would never leave this area.

atlantis224 by Jenseib, on Flickr

And that little cove behind Ellen, I think those were just little chill out areas.

atlantis225 by Jenseib, on Flickr

atlantis226 by Jenseib, on Flickr

atlantis227 by Jenseib, on Flickr

You name it and they had it…it really is a teens dream area.

atlantis228 by Jenseib, on Flickr

atlantis229 by Jenseib, on Flickr

atlantis230 by Jenseib, on Flickr

And they had a dance club area and drinks could be bought there as well.

atlantis231 by Jenseib, on Flickr

atlantis232 by Jenseib, on Flickr

And Karen said they are supervised quite well here.

atlantis233 by Jenseib, on Flickr

atlantis234 by Jenseib, on Flickr

atlantis235 by Jenseib, on Flickr

atlantis236 by Jenseib, on Flickr

And after a few questions we left crush and took a peek through the window at the speedway while Karen locked up.

atlantis237 by Jenseib, on Flickr

atlantis238 by Jenseib, on Flickr

I think we ended up taking a potty break at this point too.

atlantis239 by Jenseib, on Flickr

And then moved on heading over to the Royal Tower.

atlantis240 by Jenseib, on Flickr

bah39 by Jenseib, on Flickr

Up next….Best room view EVER!
