Disney + Birthday= An Incredible Gift! (PTR- May 18th - May 24th) - Page 6 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Okay, I'm back and I know what I'm going to say. I actually made notes to help me remember what I was going to say . No in no particular order:
I agree it's easier to start the day with breakfast. It makes it easier to get up and out but why limit yourself to cereal? I think those cake pops you had could double as breakfast too.
Now refresh my memory. If you like Fultons, why do you want to go somewhere else for your seafood?
It seems a shame you don't want to go to Disney for your birthday but I do understand sometimes the heat and humidity are too much for some. I work in a kitchen so I guess I'm use to heat.
Nothing on arrival day. It took us a few years before we started doing this. In a way, I'd like to do a little less - like just stay at the resort - but I just am not at the point of wanting to pay the inflated prices for grocery delivery services. Staying at All Stars, we can very quickly and easily get to either Walgreens or Walmart so it really comes down to the hardest part of it really is just getting the stuff to the room. Not getting to the store or getting the stuff.
Doing a theme park on the last day. I give people credit for wanting to do this. For us, it's hard enough leaving Disney without going to a park so I can't imagine how hard it is to leave after being in the park. Plus, we do go for longer than some people so we're pretty tired too and a park would just make it worse going home.
We like the boats too, they are very relaxing but I'm too much my mother's daughter. I'm too impatient to wait and ride them unless I have a specific plan in mind. That's part of why we don't do busses either. I want to go when I want to go.
Don't you like DME and the luggage delivery? Despite my "I want to go when I want to go" mentality, the allure of someone else handling my luggage was too much to ignore. We tried it and I don't just like it, I love it. It makes our arrival day so much easier. I just drop my luggage in Providence and I don't have lift and lug it again until it's time to unpack. Not to mention the fact that by taking DME and renting the car from the CCC, I'm also saving money so it's definitely a win-win situation for us.
I'm glad you're blaming the right person for Trails End Buffet . Yes, I like fried chicken too, but it's something I can skip on vacation. Especially where I like the kind Lenny makes here at home. For me, either way I eat it, I don't have to cook it. Lenny on the other hand doesn't have too many opportunities to eat fried chicken that he doesn't have to make first.
I'm glad to hear you're willing to have another character meal breakfast. It's been a few years since we ate at 1900 PF so I can't tell you what it's like. Abby doesn't seem to be too interested in Alice and the Mad Hatter or Mary Poppins so it's not someplace she asks for. She'd prefer Crystal Palace or Tusker House for breakfast. She did like dinner there but she was willing to skip it this year for more park time at dinner.
I'm so use to staying value, I don't know where else I'd stay if we had the opportunity to. It would be nice to wake up and watch the animals from the balconies at AKL but on the other hand, it would be nice to wake up and see the MK from a balcony (not to mention convenient since we spend a lot of time here). Staying near Epcot would be convenient too to do WS - which Abby wants to do but it seems like we end up doing other things instead. However, I can't say there are really any balcony views for me (I'd hate to see another hotel or a parking lot from it). You have a tough choice to make but luckily you have time.
Two trips at one time to plan. Lucky you. For me, I drive myself crazy just trying to plan one I'd be to try to do two at one time.
Thanks for taking us on your trip Kate. I enjoyed it. Pretty soon I'll return the favor though. Rest up as I'm sure it's going to be tiring . Hot and Humid is a given though.

My oh my...Darlene...I like your list! I am glad you took notes too! I was laughing too!
I would love to eat a cake pop for breakfast BUT I can't eat anything that heavy and loaded with sugar for breakfast, plus the reason I only eat cereal is so I can eat an early lunch. HA!
Fulton's I am getting tired of it! But I would go back for some peel-n-eat shrimp and a Sunset Punch (you would like that it is non-alcohol.....One of my favorites things!)
I would love to go another year for my birthday, BUT not only was it hot and humid, but crowded and getting expensive too. Plus I don't want to wear out my Birthday for too many trips!
I always went to a park on an arrival day...until this past May! It was refreshing and I was still tired from traveling too. I got to bed earlier because I would have stayed up later if I did go to a park. However I was excited the next morning for my 1st day at the parks, that I was up so darn early! I was up before the sun!
I have rethink about saying whether I would go to a park on the day I leave. It would also mean that my flight would have to be later... but the October trip I would be coming back on a Saturday night... have some time to figure that out!
I LOVED the boats! It was a nicer way to get to Epcot or HS or even MK. Break up the buses and enjoy all the transportation I could experience. Yes I was lazy leaving Epcot and taking the boat to go to Boardwalk, but it was the 1st stop! Plus my body needed a break.... a little breeze! No buses service from Boardwalk to Epcot and DHS; either you walk (no way) or take the boats!
When my boys and I went it just took too much time for our bags to get to us. So I never tried it again. But I thought with this trip I would try again. I had two regular size suitcases for this past trip and it would have been a little harder for me to navigate them. So I decided to try the yellow bags again. But this time they arrived after I got back from lunch. I did pack my bathing suit with me, but I was not interested at that time.... I will rethink about doing this again! Not for the December trip but for the October trip though.
I have been wanting to try Trail's End...since I have seen your trip reports of why Lenny wanted to go there. Plus now that I am watching my weight I make a skinless and boneless fried chicken...which is pretty good! But once in a blue moon I would like to eat some really good fried chicken (maybe you can email me of how Lenny makes his fried chicken)... plus I have heard great things about it too... and I try to not eat anything in Disney that I can get at home... but if Lenny likes the fried chicken at Trail's End, then it is my duty to try it too! LOL
I have never had breakfast at 1900 Park Faire but I have had the dinner and I thought that was pretty good, and loved the characters too! But it is the characters that are pulling me this time, not the food! I like CP too, but Abby is smart to go there.... right next to the castle too!
When I stayed at the WL back in 2012, the balcony looked over a maintenance parking lot, but at night it was totally different. I saw the fireworks from MK every night. Most of the times I stay at a deluxe resort, the balcony looks over something that I don't want to see...but then I realize that something special happens at night... but I am just so grateful to have a balcony. The view from the boardwalk, I could hear people from the front of the resort...but I couldn't see them since the trees covered it. Plus the view from either side and from looking over the trees was an incredible site.... I was lucky enough to see 3 hot-air balloons on my birthday.... at one point it started raining and I had a cover over my balcony so I could sit out there longer too... I have been so lucky that I have experienced alot of resorts... and grateful! But my favorite resort is still Caribbean Beach... and that doesn't have any balconies. Go figure!
Thank god that the 2 trips are so far apart...because it would drive me crazy too! Plus I would have the change- addiction of adrs too...more so! LOL
I cannot wait to read your trip report when you get back.... I could use a Magical dose of Disney.... through your eyes!
