F&WF Fun with my Favorite Disney Partner - PTR - Page 6 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

While in Italy we shopped some more. I do remember Travis stopping several times to buy different beers and wines. He loves trying the different flavors from different countries!
Up next was American Adventure. We walked through the shop and again nothing was purchased. As we were leaving I asked Travis if he was hungry. He said yes and since the next country around WS was Japan, he said he would get some sushi. We had gone when it was called Yakitori House and it was pretty good. So, we headed that way and realized it had changed names to Katsura Grill. Travis got sushi and I got chicken. Well, let me just say, my chicken was NO good. It actually tasted like dog food. I thought it was me, so I asked Travis to taste it. I didn’t tell him what I thought, but I asked him once he took a bite what he thought it tasted like. He chewed a second then spit it out. He said, Mom, that taste likes dog food!!! See…thought it was just me!! So I just ate the rice! Now it’s a joke between him and me about my “dog food” lunch!!
Here’s lunch:
My lunch!!
Travis’ sushi, which he said was very good.
After eating, I took a couple of pictures because it was so peaceful there.
Next is one of my favorite shopping countries…Morocco!
I love walking through all those little shops and I usually find the most colorful earrings there. Travis took the camera away and said it was my turn to be in a picture!!
He finally found a CM willing to take a picture.
After spending time in Morocco, we soon headed to France. Travis wanted something sweet, so guess where we headed!! You got it…Boulangerie Patisserie. He got something that was very sweet and very chocolaty. He realized after a few bites, it was just too sweet for him. So I ate a little bit, then sadly we had to throw away the rest. But it was very good.
We did a little shopping where we found 2 French girls talking in French by a counter. I asked if they would pose for a picture and they just looked at me and said sure. But when I said it would be with my son, not me, they just smiled even bigger!!
After France, we walked over International Gateway and headed into United Kingdom. Travis loves this country. I think it was because he once dated a girl from England…but I could be wrong!! Anyway, he loves to shop at the Crown & Crest. I prefer The Tea Caddy. I ADORE those shortbread cookies!!! I would fly to Disney to get just those cookies!! Although he sometimes buys a shirt, he ALWAYS, ALWAYS buys a rugby ball. When I asked him why he was looking at the rugby balls when he had so many at home, he replied, “Mom, it’s tradition to always buy one when I come to Disney”. Well, who am I to argue with tradition. He also started talking to the CM and they talked a good while. He told me later, this was his favorite CM!!
Notice the rugby ball in his hand!?!?!
When we left Crown & Crest, we noticed a skit from the street performers was beginning. I asked if he wanted to see the skit and he said yes. Little did we know, he was about to become a street performer.

I've heard of "drinking around the world" and "chocolate around the world", but never, "hugging pretty CMs around the world"!! Travis had a great day!
Travis didn't seem to mind!!! It was actually fun talking to each one and learning more about each of their countries!!

Thanks! When we got to the fountains, I noticed there was no crowd, so I was actually thinking about pictures and quickly took one!! I'm glad it came out okay!!

As we were leaving Crown & Crest, we noticed a street skit beginning. It was the part where the street performers were getting crowd involvement. One of the main characters walked towards Travis’ direction, but he reached for the guy next to him. However, the guy next to Travis just kept saying no, so he looked at Travis and said, “Come on, you’re it!” So, he followed him to the little cart to get instructions. I moved to where I could see more and take pictures. It was great!! Travis and the lady they got from the crowd did a fantastic job. The lady actually had a beautiful singing voice and when she started singing, even the performers were a little shocked. After the skit, they all linked arms and took a bow. Here are some pictures from the skit…!!
This guy was hilarious!!
This is one of my favorite pictures!!
When he got through, he walked over to me and whispered, “That was fun, but I could feel my sugar dropping”. So, I handed him some crackers from his backpack and he said he was okay.
The next country was Canada.
The young CM from Canada was very sweet and she and Travis had a great conversation.
We walked around Canada a bit, taking pictures.
My best Disney Buddy!!
Love the Canada area and this garden.
Travis didn’t know about this walkway, so he thought it was pretty cool!! (Sorry it’s so blurry)
We soon got back to the beginning of WS. I asked if he needed to go back to the resort or did he have anything he special he wanted to do or see. He said, let’s go around again!! So, we headed around WS again, minus the CM picture taking. We rode the ride in Mexico and just took our time this second round!!
We had an ADR for dinner at Rose & Crown, (can’t remember the time). I know we checked in early and requested a patio table. I sat on one of the benches in front of R&C and Travis of course, headed back to the store to look at more items, but I think it was to see if the little blonde CM was still there!!!
Soon, our table was ready and we had a perfect view for Illuminations. Our server came and took our order. I got a Shanty and Travis got a Guinness. I don’t think we had an appetizer. My entrée was the Sunday Roast Dinner, (which they don’t serve anymore, but it was very, very good), and Travis got Shepherd’s Pie. As we sat there, it started getting real cold. We both had on shorts and short sleeves, but he had put his jacket in his backpack. Soon, he was taking it out and zipping it up real tight!! Our server was great. He had a great sense of humor and when I asked if we could just take our time and sit here for Illuminations, he replied, ”Oh yes, absolutely. That way I don’t have to start a new table!” So, after dinner we ordered dessert, The Pudding. (Again, my memory fails me), which was also very good. I think at this point, we order coffee because it was getting colder.
Illuminations started and I only got off one picture because I kept shaking it was so cold.
At the end of Illuminations, Travis said he was ready to head back to the resort and get warm and I whole heartedly agreed!!
We headed toward the busses and of course Pop Century was one of the last bus stops. But a bus soon arrived and it was warm. When we got back to the room, Travis said he would go down with our mugs and get hot chocolate while I took a shower. By the time he got back, I was already in bed watching TV. He took his shower and we watched some TV and drank hot chocolate before going to sleep.
It was a fun day at Epcot, but I was so tired. It didn’t take long for both of us to fall asleep.
Very nice finish to you Epcot day! I loved the Sunday roast at R&C and was a little disappointed when I found it wasn't on the menu any more. But the chicken I had there in May was an excellent choice.
