As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

My kids love the muppets, but didn't like MV3D and kept asking if we could leave already.
What a great time at DHS so far! We really liked our meal at Hollywood and Vine and the boys thought it was hysterical that the place was serving lunch at 10:30, but it's been crossed off our list for our next visit because the older two wanted to try something different.

Wonderful start to your TR! Love the pictures from MM! I'm impressed you woke early for that ADR on the first day! I always learn something when I take time to read TRs. Today I learned about MM automatically adding your photos from rides. I assumed you needed to swipe magic band at counter or something. That's neat.
Looks like a great day so far!!! Love the photos - especially the MM one of the boys presenting you!!!
and yes - I really liked the fact that you did not have to get in line for the ride photos - once I got over the fear of whether they were actually showing up or not

I love your memory maker photos! So fun!
That is great that the MB automatically load the ride photos as you exit the ride!
That was one of the best things Disney could've invented. It was so awesome to get off the ride and go on your merry way without having to join a huge line.

I was telling my kids that they should do a new movie based on the recent Muppet movies. Include some of the new characters with the classic ones.

Thanks! Wait till' I write my opinion on another popular ride. I think I'll get banned.

I hadn't seen the show since 2006. So I didn't really remember it. But lack of sleep and a kind of boring show are not a great combination.

Yeah, it makes me kind of sad knowing that I won't be back there. Not because of the outstanding food but because I realized that I don't have small kids anymore. My boys are growing up so fast. I wish I could make them stop.

When the CM told me I kept asking how. I must've appeared slow. I just couldn't grasp the idea of how they were able to do that. But it's pretty neat.

That's one of my favorites just because it's all about me.
I always checked my photos to see if they were all there. That was good though because I had some photos lost and I had to go to have them added. So sometimes it pays to be panicky.
Signing in. Looks like a great time so far. Maybe a bit exhausting (especially your first day) but fun none the less! And I'm really loving the insight into Kidani. Our first stay there will be in October!

I love seeing the ride photos and see the ugly faces I always have.
Looked like a great day at DHS! Sorry, to hear that H&V wasn't exactly ideal with the service. I've never ate here and have heard mixed reviews of it. Love you photos and glad you had a great time on the attractions such as TSMM and TOT!

Sorry you didn't have such a great service experience at H&V. I've read some mixed reviews on that place for years now and haven't not eaten there because of that. Glad your son enjoyed TOT this time! It's one of my families favorite rides in Disney!

Yeah, I'd heard similar reviews. The things you do for your kids...

It's not his favorite ride but at least he's willing to ride it.

We arrived at Kidani and the boys had only one thing on their minds - POOL. So they quickly changed and we headed out. Arben stayed behind, he was going to relax in the tub and then have some lunch.
We walked over to the pool and settled on some lounge chairs. Adriel and Abniel immediately took off for the pool while AJ and I hung back. The weather was kind of cool so I decided to skip swimming. I decided to take some pictures of the pool area instead.
Kind of need sunglasses here.
Adriel
Abniel
Meanwhile, back in the room, Arben was having some lunch. And he sent me the picture to prove it.
My leftover pasta
After some time we headed to the hot tub. At first I thought I would boil to death, but then my body got used to the heat and it felt very good.
It was time to start heading back to the room. I sent AJ and Abniel up to start on showers. Adriel and I stayed back for an extra half hour. There was no point in going back all at once, it's not like we could all take a shower at the same time.
When swimming time was up, I collected our things and we trekked back to the room. As I exited the elevator on our floor I found myself staring at Abniel. He told me that for the past half hour they had been knocking on the door and that their dad didn't answer. We had only taken my Magic Band. When I started walking to the room I could see AJ and he was PISSED. He told me he had been banging on the door, calling his dad and sending him messages to no avail. It never occurred to him to let me know or to go back to the pool and get me. When I opened the door I was pissed. Arben was napping in the bedroom with the door closed, oblivious of the world. I woke him up and let him have it. I mean, how could he just fall asleep like that. What if something had happened to me or one of the boys and we couldn't get a hold of him.
Anyways, we all showered and relaxed for a bit. After a while we got ready and headed off to Epcot.
I had a surprise for dinner for Arben, which my kids and I managed to keep under wraps. Since my adr was for 7:45, I had some time to kill. We arrived at Epcot and headed for WS. Here are some photos I took along the way.
I took my time exploring the countries (stalling).
I found some Vikings.
When the time was approaching I suggested we find a place to have some dinner. I started walking and told everyone to follow me. We headed to the Hunky Servers Restaurant err, I mean, Via Napoli.
I checked us in and then told Arben this was a surprise the kids and I had for him. He was very happy. We waited less than 10 minutes and they were calling our name.
Our server came, introduced herself and brought us our menus. I already knew what our order would be. When she came back we made our drink orders and food order.
Our dinner: Mezzo Metro, half pepperoni and half 4 cheese.
Oh my!! Yummy, yummy, yummy! We devoured that thing so fast. It was huge but my boys eat a lot.
Of course, we ordered some dessert to share.
I love this restaurant and now it will become a tradition for us. The food is delicious, the service is great, and the eye candy... is a nice addition.
We settled the bill and stepped outside. Illuminations was about to start and we found an excellent spot right outside of Italy. There was a couple right by the railing but some reason, moved to another spot. So I moved the boys up to the railing and then Arben, AJ and I stood behind them. It was a perfect spot with an incredible view. Then I did something I had never done before. I actually enjoyed Illuminations without taking a single photo. I only took a 2 minute video at the beginning to send to my sister, but then I put my camera and phone away, and just took it all in. I was smiling, teary eyed, and very happy.
When the show was done we took our time going out. I took some pics and we walked ever so slowly.
We got to bus stop and waited a bit for a bus. Back at our room, lights were out at 11.
