Forums Closed
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.

So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.

Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.

We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.

There are other changes as well.

Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.

It's time to move on and move forward.

PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.

But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.

So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.

And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.

That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

Hope would definitely have not liked that ride either. You saw how she was when it came to getting her face wet. She would have been acting just like Lukas! I'm so glad you were able to get the pump overnighted to you because I know you wouldn't have enjoyed your trip as much as you could have. Things always have a way of working themselves out, especially when we're able to think clearly.

I agree, baby wipes come in so handy! My "babies" are 9 and 7 and I still carry them with me at all times

It sounds like an awful time on the Chima ride, I would have hated getting that wet just like Lukas. What a scare it must have been when you realized that your pump wasn't working, I am so sorry that you had to deal with that. I'm glad that your mom was able to help you calm down, and that the medical company was able to help you get a new pump so quick!

Oh my! A lost purse and an insulin pump problem. Sounds stressful. At least the pump was under warranty and you were able to get it over-nighted. I'm sure your mom would have gotten you one of your backup pumps shipped to you as well. But that shipping charge would have been awful. Best to avoid it. I'm thinking you went home and added "backup pump" to your packing list.

Legoland looks like a lot of fun. I love looking at the stuff they can build with Legos. We have a big Lego store here at the Mall of America and we always love going and looking at the stuff they built. And we do the same thing at DtD. Too bad the rides at Legoland are so much work. That doesn't sound like a good time.

They should definitely tell you that you get COMPLETELY wet, not just that you get a little wet. If you had known that I am sure you and Lukas wouldn't have rode it at all.
I am glad the manufacturer was able to send you a new one ASAP. Glad your mommy was able to calm you down. Moms are the best! My dad is pretty good at calming me down as well.

I can't believe how wet you got on that ride!!! It looks like Dylan and Mike jumped into a pool!! What a scary thing to happen with your pump. I'm so glad that you were able to have them overnight a new pump for you. What a scary way to end an otherwise great day at Legoland.

How scary about the pump! Thank goodness you were able to get another one. They really should have better warnings on that ride,

I hate water rides that drench you like that unless they're at a water park. Not fun at all. Poor Lukas!
You're right Laurie, I did not feel better until it was in my hands, out of the box and back on & working.
I'm just glad we waited until the end of the day to ride it.

I didn't realize Legoland took over Cyprus Gardens! I visited there on my very first trip to WDW in 1981! Haven't been back since, but I recall it being really beautiful.
I'm sure it was really beautiful when the whole place looked like that. It was a nice getaway from the rest of the park. I'm glad they preserved it.

There's no way I would've been able to enjoy myself without it. I would've been a nervous wreck! Palo definitely wouldn't have been fun!

Welcome Lisa!
It was very scary! The id was the least of my worries. We had passports back at the room because of the cruise and we drove so no worries about the plane, but I know what you mean. It was a very roller coaster emotional day.

Plus the boys are messy eaters so need to clean them up - or wipe off face paint. I was not fond of being wet either, but the pump became my main concern.

Some of the rides were work, but they weren't too bad or last long so it was ok. Just glad our kids aren't any bigger.

We all looked like we jumped into the pool! Funny thing is, I've actually gotten into the pool with my pump on and had no problem (I was quick to realize I had it on, but it still worked). I'm guessing the humidity of the day was also a factor.

I agree. It should've said "You will get completely drenched on this ride."

Friday, October 11, 2013 cont.

Around 5:30pm Cam texted to see if we were at DtD yet. I told her no, we were on our way to AKV after the mishap with the pump plus we all had to get out of the wet clothes and shoes we were in. She said good as they weren’t either and would be stopping at SSR first too. I said we probably wouldn’t arrive until at least 6:30pm so they were just going to relax or pack in the room until that time and then head over. I checked my blood sugar and gave myself some insulin; we all changed and then headed to the car. I had to take a picture of the car parked next to us – big Harry Potter fan apparently.

A little after 7pm I texted Cam that we were parking in the casting center across from DtD. With the construction going on this is where a lot of parking was being redirected here. We were all a little hungry and planned to go to EoS, but when I saw one of the kiosks had cones (like they do at Disneyland) Mike was sold. He’s been wanting food in a cone since he heard about them at DL. He had the chili cone-queso, Lukas & I shared popcorn, and Dylan had a Mickey bar. Dinner of vacation champions! We sat near Once Upon a Toy to enjoy dinner. Cam & I were texting back & forth and they were headed our way. I stood so I could watch for them since we were off by ourselves a bit. I finally saw them and went to get them as I wasn’t sure they’d find us. Soon we were all together and started talking right away. Cam informed us of her run-in with the bus driver and I told her about all that had happened that day to us. The boys ran around like crazy men. All too soon it was time for us to head our separate ways, but not before a picture! It was so great seeing Cam & Luke again. They are such wonderful people. It almost doesn’t seem like a trip to WDW if we don’t see them as we’ve met up with them often in the past few years. I’m sad we won’t see each other in May, but October may be a possibility instead. I almost forgot! Cam gave me a lovely blanket made by her mother-in-law. She and Stefanie used to make them and was now wondering what she’s do with all the material she had left so she is now making them for all of Cam & Luke’s Disney friends. I am honored to have received one. It is currently keeping me extra warm at night. Thanks again Cam – and Thelma!

Once we parted ways we went in Once Upon a Toy for a bit. The boys played with the potato head parts. Looking back I should’ve sneaked a box of parts for Christmas. Oh well! Always next year. Once we had out fill there we went to the Lego store. The boys had both been given lego gift cards from Mike’s sister for their birthdays, but you can’t use them at Legoland (I know – crazy!). So the Lego store it was! Dylan picked out a Lego castle and Lukas got a Duplo fire truck and some mini figs. We also got Lukas a board for the Duplos to save for Christmas. Mike picked himself out a Frodo keychain. I was going to see about going to Curl and getting a pair of painted Toms but it was really crowded (Friday night) and when I discovered how far down it was I turned back and we all went to WoD. Not much was purchased here – just some snacks for the boys & I, a Park Starz vinylmation for Mike and tea for my mom for watching Buster. Then we headed back to the room to get some sleep.

The minifig Dylan made. Had to take a picture since we didn't buy it.

buttons we got at LEGOLAND today

Up next…checking out the Character Warehouse

Sounds like a great end to the day and I'm glad you got to meet up with Cam and Luke. One day hopefully we'll get to meet all of you, as our trips never seem to overlap.

It's great that you got to meet up with Cam and Luke, even briefly. I'll have to check out those cones at DTD next trip. I love your wholesome dinner!

We did meet once Cheryl. In December 2009 but Dylan was only 2 and Lukas of course wasn't around.

You snuck in there! I'll ask Mike if it was a meat chili in the cone. No eating rules on vacation...well there's a few to come in the cruise. Right Melissa?

As I was typing it, I had it at the back of my mind that we had met once - that was the massive PassPorter meet, wasn't it? It was so hard to keep track of everyone that night. We definitely need to get together in a smaller group gathering.

When you said December 2009, my instant reaction was it wasn't that long ago, then I read the next bit about Dylan being two and Lukas not being around and suddenly it seems like a very long time ago!
