The Perpetual Disney Adventures with the D Family TR - Page 6 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Great day!! I can't wait to try out the Wilderness Explorers, it looks like a lot of fun. Plus, I can never get my family to slow down enough in that park to explore the trails, so this will be a good excuse for that Hope you had fun tonight with Lisa and Emily!!
What a great day! I love the shots with the characters, although I had a tinge of sadness, as my donkey boy's no longer there with his friends.
So is Eeyore never there? I wasn't sure if he just wasn't there that day or if he wasn't there at all anymore?

We had such a great Mickey and Minnie interaction this day! I kinda prefer to see them together with the kids because they each have someone to hug, lol! I miss Minnie and Mickey together at the Town Square Theatre in MK.

Yes!! It's definitely a great way to get the family to slow down for you! I'm impressed with how thoughtful some of the activities are- definitely a great job on Disney's part.
We didn't make it over to see them last night I was running around like a mad woman yesterday to get everything done and ready to go for today (first day of school and Allen started a new job) and by 5pm my laundry machines were still going strong. It ended up being for the better as there were some nasty storms last night at WDW and I think they ended up making it an early night. I was hoping maybe we could pop over tonight but Tyler's bus was running 45 minutes late and we didn't finish dinner until nearly 7pm! This is the 2nd time we've missed each other

LOL! Definitely do because Tyler got stopped a few times and it was so funny every time!!!
Looks like a great day at AK. I noticed that you have a Chicco Liteway for Miss Stella. How do you like it for touring? I may have purchased Liteways for the sole reason that I thought they would be a nice stroller for WDW. Easy to fold up and bring on the buses and light/smallish. We've used them around town here and I really like them, but I haven't taken them out for an entire day anywhere. We actually just purchased some snack/drink holders that clip on as that's the one thing they don't have that the monster Graco system we lugged around last time did.

I'll preface this by saying that stroller is just over 2 years old and has been toted around left and right (so its been used and abused!)
I am ready to chuck that darn stroller in the lake. To be honest, it's been a bit wonky since we bought it (ex: the sun shade has never been quite right- it's constantly popping off the stroller frame.) It's a real pain to push- the wheels don't want to go straight so we are constantly having to fiddle with them. It's gotten progressively worse over time but it was never quite right. My SIL bought the same stroller last fall and she has had no issues so I think we likely just got a dud. We have actually been looking at replacing it for a while (I'd like a nice jogger that we could take to the parks and that we could use so Allen, Tyler and I can run together) but my biggest hesitation is that we are in the middle of deciding if we will have another baby (or, more accurately, if its even possible for me to have another baby) and so I feel like I'm in a bit of limbo because I don't want to buy a single and then need a double. The other issue we've ran into with it is that Allen is tall and his back starts hurting if he pushes it for too long in the parks so we'd like a stroller that has an adjustable handle.
We bought ours for the very same reason that you did and for Stella it's been great- she naps in it, doesnt get too hot, etc. We love Chicco products (we have their travel system, pack'n'play, etc) but this stroller has given us fits from the start. But I really think we got a dud because SIL loves hers.
Ah, I missed that announcement I just thought that he wasn't there that day.
Just another reason to eat at CP, eh??
Mel
There is that! However, I find it a real shame that they've removed the pretty much one guaranteed donkey sighting place they did - of course, sometimes you can catch him in other places, but he doesn't seem to frequent the United Kingdom any longer. What are they doing with my buddy?

Just caught up! I am loving your Perpetual Trip Report. I got a kick out of Stella waiting for her chariot. It reminds me of my youngest Rachel, when she was little - she was never happy when she had to exit her "strolly" to ride a ride. It was one of those cheap $7 umbrella strollers and it lasted several trips, we even had to repair a screw or bolt or something - my dh stopped a maintenance guy at the Poly - who cheerfully gave us a several bolts to try and lent my dh some tools. I think he would have fixed it for us - but dh likes to fix things himself.

Sorry the stroller has been a pain for you. We have never had a problem with the steering. These things (we have 2 one for each kid) steer like a dream. I often steer them one handed. We even bought connectors and have connected them once. It seemed to go OK. I haven't taken out for a full day yet though. We will at the fair on Sat. though. Glad to hear Stella can nap in it. We're hoping Mallory will nap in hers. Haven't had that happen yet though. I guess we'll just have to see how ours work out in WDW. I'm really hoping you just got a dud!

It is odd how hard he is to find-I remember maybe 10ish yrs ago how he was so popular, and judging my as much merchandise that he has, I would guess he still is. Poor Eeyore

Can't wait to see the finished costumes!
Thank you! She's so funny about that stroller- for a while there we couldn't get her to ride in it at all (and still, the only place she agrees to ride in it is at Disney.) I wish there was a stroller for me- I mean, she has got the best deal of all of us with that thing!!!

When SIL got hers, Allen couldn't believe how much better hers handles versus ours! I wonder if they improved the stroller in the time between when we bought ours and she got hers (and you got yours?) I wanted to exchange it not long after purchasing it because it was a little wonky from the start but I purchased it in NY when we were visiting my mom and I threw the box away at her house so I didn't have to bring it home. I thought about calling Chicco directly but then time past and I forgot about it. We actually considered purchasing a new one after seeing how great SIL's is but I really want a BOB jogger so we can all run together and I don't see any sense in having 2 strollers.
I'm glad yours work well though!!!! Have fun at the fair!

Aw, thanks I'm so happy to share our adventures! And when we lived in the Midwest, reading TR's made me feel connected to WDW between trips so hopefully our adventures so the same for other PP'ers.

The in-laws arrived last night (and are over at AK as I type) so we are planning on heading to the bubble this weekend. I suggested MK to tonight so we will see how the weather shakes out and how this head cold of mine goes today. It's funny that I feel crummy but still totally game for an evening at WDW I think we will likely hit Epcot this weekend at some point as well because the in laws really enjoying touring (read: drinking) around WS. They also haven't rode TT since it was reimagined and I'm sure they would enjoy it.

That's a really good point. You (thankfully!) do still lots of merchandise for him, so I don't understand removing him from meets and greets.
