Mom & Me, Work & Fun PTR (Sept. 7-14, 2013) - Page 6 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

I missed the start of this, so I am catching up!
Glad you are getting a trip without the kids. Hope you get all the pics you need for Hunter's app.
I love OKW, I think you will too!
I am addicted to the D&B bags too, but unfortunately have not been able to purchase a Disney one yet. I did get me a Disney Harvey bag about a month and a half ago and I absolutely love it. I am also going to look into getting a Vera Bradley Disney bag when they come out this fall. Hope you get one or the other on your trip.
Strength and motivation for your weight loss.
All your dining choices look wonderful.
Not much longer!!!
Glad you were able to find it! Have fun catching up.
I think I'll be able to get all the pics, but it's going to be a different kind of trip. I haven't stayed anywhere at Disney that I haven't at least liked a lot. OKW is not my "style" per se (we are AKL, WL, Poly kind of people) but I'm sure I will enjoy it. I know I will enjoy not having to sleep on a sleeper-couch. I'm very lucky that Pat was thrilled when I finally found a "frivolous" thing he could buy me. I am the practical "give me a vacuum for my birthday" kind of person. When I found Dooney's he was happy to buy them for me. The weight loss is tough for me, I have little to no self-control, but I'm happy to gradually move down.

All the changes sound great. Hope you get lots of your pics done!
I waver back and forth between "oh, I will have no problem getting all the pics done" to "oh my gosh how am I going to get all of these pics done".

It has been a very chaotic summer. If we can manage to get the app done I think it will be really cool and helpful. I'm excited for homeschooling this year, we have only done one semester at the end of last year and we really did a light course load. It will be nice to get in full swing.
Today will not have an official update as I haven't been working on much for the September trip in the last few days. I have finished entering History for both kids into my program for homeschooling. I'm going to try to get at least one of their Science curriculums entered before heading to Denver (I'm hoping I can get both done).
I have been working on dining ideas for our February trip, since our 180 booking window opens on August 31st. You will have to wait to hear about those in my next PTR though. I will admit that I think I need to keep my trips to a minimum of 7 months apart. I am really confusing myself trying to keep track of things and trying to plan dining for February when I'm also trying to make plans for September.
The only thing I have done this week is complete some more of the maps. The only maps I have left to do are for DTD and it is only 3 maps for the whole area. I keep thinking I'm overdoing it with these maps, but I think when I am there I will really be glad I took the time to make and print them. I'm pretty sure I would easily miss things otherwise.
I probably won't have any other update until after I get back from Denver. I have a bunch of things I need to do, including driving to Roswell (1 1/2 one way) to take Pat's truck in, the battery died and we tried jumping it and that didn't work. The little shop in town took it and charged it which worked, but some of the panel warning lights are on now and I need to find out what happened. Hoping it's not an expensive fix.
Weight Loss Update: I did my weigh in yesterday and I am down to 220.0, which for the week is a 2.1 lb. loss. I hope I can keep that up and I will be right on track. Denver is hard for me because we tend to eat at all my favorite places, but I'm going to try to eat less and try not to gain this trip. I may not lose but I don't want to gain any.
Congrats on your weight loss! Fantastic job! I've been really stuck with these last 10 pounds I'm trying to lose...sheesh!
Those last pounds can be the worst. Good luck!

Ended up I don't have to drive to Roswell. I stopped to get gas in town for the drive, got back in the truck and started it and all the lights went out. Called Toyota and they said that is should be fine, that it was probably just due the the battery being charged. Saved me a long drive.

The Denver trip is not a real fun trip, mostly appointments and errands, but it's nice to see some of my family.

I'm still working on getting Science entered, I've not been motivated. And the truck fixed itself, which is great, saves me a lot in gas and repair costs.

The truck fixed itself before leaving town this morning. I'm actually surprised it didn't wait till I got it to the dealer and then all the lights went out. But I'm happy because I didn't have to make the 3 hour round-trip.
