Forums Closed
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.

So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.

Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.

We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.

There are other changes as well.

Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.

It's time to move on and move forward.

PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.

But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.

So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.

And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.

That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

Sorry to see you had another bad experience at Kozzina I am dying to try for dinner thanks to all the lamb on the menu but after your reviews we may have to rethink it.
Abby is sweetie. Word of caution (like you guys need it) Goldens KNOW they are people. And Chuck needs to be careful or he's going to have a 70 lb lap blanket

Miss Abby is a doll. Obviously Miss Meg sent her your way, since Meg wouldn't want her parents to miss puppy hugs and kisses...

Mike, you got that right! She's small for a golden though. She's about 40 or so, I could be wrong about the weight, but she's go graceful and FAST.

I got so fixated on Miss Abby before I forgot . Great catch on La Nuba. We have it on our must list for Nov trip. Chuck I doubt they took out anything from the last time you saw it more likely that with different seats you just had a far different view and action someplace else had your attention more.
Okay now back to Abby. One sure fire way to tell if she is a Golden is that she will Have repeat Have to bring you or anybody that comes in something preferabelly someones underwear. Be careful with Duffy around her as she might decide to make your Bare butted little bear butt hers

Sorry breakfast was such a disappointment. Glad you had a great rest of the day and were able to get tickets to La Nouba.

Abby is such a sweet girl! I'm glad you were able to give her a good home!

Abby is beautiful, and it sounds like she was meant to be with you
Thanks! She really seems like a great fit!

And, most importantly.... to Abby! She is beautiful and it looks like Meg was looking out for you and Chuck again. I believe Meg sent her to you so you wouldn't feel so incomplete.
We loved LaNouba! This was our second trip together (third time for me). You are so right - Meg sent Abby!

Dole Whip, an impromptu La Nouba viewing, good dinner, topped off with a Mickey Bar!

Abby is a beautiful dog and it really does sound like she's meant to be yours. Love is infinite and you can love Meg and Abby, too.
Thanks Laurie. Kouzzina WAS good - at one point. But it has really gone downhill, in our opinion. Otherwise, we had a great day! Abby is totally different than Meg but still a great addition! I think Meg would approve!

LaNouba was so good. It was different than when we saw it before. One of the acts I was so looking forward to was scratched. It did seem a little short, but Coop said it was the normal time.
Abby is a wonderful girl. Now if I can get some sleep...
You will get sleep - it's just like having a new baby! Our old bodies have to get used to it!

Thanks Kurt! You should make time for LaNouba! It's fabulous! I know what you mean though- wish we had all the time in the world to do everything! Enjoy your trip - you should be there by now!

After having her here a couple of days, I can see why she wouldn't work out as a service dog! She is sooooo skittish! She jumps at every little noise. And she acts like she's afraid to do anything that will get her in trouble! She also doesn't like the Pergo floor in the kitchen (we had to go get area rugs just so she could pass through the kitchen to the back door) But she's starting to realize that she's a family member now. She's really a great dog!

Actually, Mike, they DID take out a part of the show. The guy who balances on pipes, (rolla-bolla) etc wasn't in the show. Chuck was really looking forward to that one. I think they substituted that with rope jumpers though. Actually, Abby doesn't really take to stuffed babies like Meg did. Meg once tried to take off with Duffy! LOL!

Saturday 4/27
We woke up without an alarm around 9 am. We had to finish packing, shower and get ready for check out. I made some coffee - they have Starbucks in the rooms at the Dolphin. We went down to check out at around 10:30 am and stored our luggage with bell services. We had a nice chat with one of the CM's also about Michigan and the Detroit area. We then caught a bus to DTD in order to catch a bus to Port Orleans French Quarter. I wanted some beignets! I've never had them and was on a mission! We got to POFQ around 11:30 -12:00 and had our "breakfast"

After breakfast, we walked through the resort to the boat, so we could go back to DTD.

We had to get palm tree shots for screen savers!

We then spent a few hours at DTD. We stopped at Little MisMatched and got some socks. (I was looking for toe socks)

We were going to get Earl of Sandwich for a late lunch/early dinner or to bring on the plane but Chuck was worried about how well it would keep for travel. And he wanted sushi. So we headed back to the resort in search of sushi (we saw an ad for sushi at one of the resort restaurants in the elevator) Once we made it back to the resort, we found out that the restaurants were not open just yet. We were there around 4:30 and they weren't open until 5:30. Unfortunately, our car was picking us up at 6:30 - so we would be pressed for time. We also found that it wouldn't be prudent to leave the area to go to another restaurant because of the time factor. So we stayed around the resort. We went to The Fountain - which is like an ice cream fountain with burgers and such as well. I had a bacon cheeseburger - (I've been wanting a burger but this was not the juicy burger I'd envisioned)

Chuck had an Ahi burger. (which I should've got too - or we should've shared)

After "dinner", we hung around the resort. I had a margarita and then we went to the lobby and sat in some comfy chairs and charged our electronics (they had outlets on the bases of the lamps)

At around 6:15, we went and picked up our luggage and went outside. Quicksilver was right there waiting for us! It was an uneventful ride back to the airport. We checked in and went through security without a fuss. Then we had a little bit of time, so we went to the airport gift shop. We got some Swedish Fish, waters and a Tortuga Rum Cake (Chuck said he used to have these when he was little). We also got some reading material for the plane. We had a bit of a wait for the plane (it was late). But we got on without a problem and had a smooth flight. The lady next to us was trying to be "important" by not turning off her phone though. She irked me. When we got back home, we picked up our bags and since it had been about 7 hours since we'd eaten, we hit Taco Bell drive through. They messed up the order We got "yelled" at by the cats and hit the hay very shortly after getting home because I had to work the next day.

Short trip. For all the wrong reasons. But we proved - it can be done! And, at the time, it was just what we needed. Thanks for following along. Now the hard part - to wait 7 months until our next trip!

Glad to see you made it back safe and sound. I must say, that Ahi burger looks amazing!

Abby looks so sweet! I know she'll never replace Meg, but I think she'll fit right in. Such a sweet face!

La Nouba is something I really want to do. Hmmmmm, now I'm thinking....that could be dangerous!

It was an amazing trip for such a short one. Some time in the future, you'll get to take an amazing short trip for all the RIGHT reasons, but I'm still glad you got to enjoy this one. Oh, I finished writing about our meet, if you want to go read my glowing opinion of you and Chuck.
