As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

I'm glad I don't have anyone spying on me or I'd have been locked up long ago! Just today I pulled out the suitcase I'm going to use in March and put a few things in.
I keep our toiletries packed in special bags ready to go any time. Luke used to shake his head at me, but now he just appreciates that I take care of it.

That is exactly what I have decided to do. I have bought all new toiletries and have packed them all for the four of us. My reasoning is that I am working right up until the night before we leave but in reality I'm just too excited to wait.
I am seriously in need of a disney fix at the moment even though I have only six weeks to go. I seriously considered replacing our Disneyland Paris annual passes (I don't like paying for a single day entrance when we usually leave early and the annual pass is not much more then a two single day passes). Unbelievably my two teenagers talked me out of it reminding me how much more we enjoyed the Magic Kingdom that DLP and also stating we have just bought PAPs. Darn sensible teenagers but they are right. I asm thinking about taking a drive over this afternoon for a wander around Team Mickey and a Starbucks coffee. That should keep me going. If not DH, myself and Rory might go tomorrow when the pesky teens are busy.
Any Disney movies out right now? Sometimes that works when I'm in need of a fix. A Disney store would be better, but we don't have one anymore. I do the same thing with toiletries. I keep that bag stocked and ready, so if I go away for a quick weekend I can just grab it and don't have to worry about forgetting anything. I even keep a week's worth of meds in there (and rotate occasionally so they don't expire) in case we need to evacuate for a hurricane or something.
We had a lovely afternoon at DLP. We didn't go into any parks but we have a quick wander around World of Disney and the Disney Store. We then had a walk around my favorite store which sells figurines and they have started selling Lenox figurines again. I have collected Lenox Mickey and Minnie sets since 1998 but couldn't find a single one this year at WDW. Hopefully the ranges were just changing and Arribas brothers made a lovely substitue anyway but it was great to see my Lenox ranges selling again.
We fancied a coffee but starbucks was really busy so we wandered over to the Sequoia Lodge and had coffee in the lounge. They had just lit the huge fire so I could have sat there all day. One good thing is Gemma loved it so we decided that the wilderness Lodge villas are our target for our MK days in August so a nice afternoon out and a decision made.
Trying to positively incentivise good behavior in Rory DS9 I devised a point system where he gets a point a day if we deem him to have been good and otherwise looses a point a day. If gets a total of fifty before we go to Orlando I promised to buy him the Darth Vadar voice mask he has been nagging me for since we went to DLP on sunday. It was left to his brother to point out to me we didnt have 50 days left for him to earn 50 points so duly revised to 30. So yay only 39 days to go and i didn't even realise in my head it was like 60!

Lol he has two whole points. We will have to manage it carefully to make sure he actually does manage to get 30 otherwise there is no real incentive and next time he just won't try. However, he doesn't know that so he is trying really hard, which in itself is a result.

I love the Wilderness Lodge and sitting by a roaring fire there sounds really good right now.
