Goin' Down the Bayou ~ The TR (November 1-10, 2012) - Page 6 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Sounds like a great day! You did do a lot in such a small amount of time.
I loved that you each had some one on one time with each girl. I love to do that when we go as a family. I let DH take DD on a couple rides alone, so that way it's their special time together. Think....tea cups! HAHA! Then I take her on a couple rides by myself for our together time. Usually Dinosaur, BTMRR, something of that nature.
You got some great pics from today! I love the up close ones of the girls. The one of Chris tickling Abby is such a great one. It really captures a moment in time. Priceless.
Can't wait to hear all about your dinner!
I agree, I love the moments we have when Chris and I split up and have time alone with each of the girls. I hope they'll grow up to cherish those moments too
Considering that I had absolutely no plans for today, besides seeing the Halloween decorations before they got taken down, I could not believe how much we got done!

Thanks, Laurie! I wish more rides would have a similar set up for waiting, it really was great!

What a great day at MK! You guys got so much done. I love the new Dumbo Queue--so much easier than standing in the sun! Can't wait to hear about dinner!
Your timing was perfect to get so many rides in! The Merida you all met was really true to character. Awesome PP photos!
Our timing could not have been more perfect! I was so glad to have fit so much into this day That Merida was awesome!

Love all your pics!
Thank you! It's a great little meet and greet, your grandchildren will love it!
We took the path near Cinderella’s well to get out of Fantasyland. We had never done that before, but what a great photo op!
Boy was I glad we decided to meet Merida earlier, her line was just crazy now!
We stopped to watch the Move It! Shake It! Celebrate It! Parade as it made it’s way up Main Street and then made our way out of the park and on to the Monorail to the Contemporary. We were really early for our ADR, so we stopped to get some pennies for our collection before checking in. We were about 30 minutes early when we got to the podium and besides the CM there was no one around, this place was a ghost town! We were handed our pager, and before we could even get over to get our picture taken it was going off
We were quickly brought to our table in the first section off to the right as you enter the restaurant, we had a nice view of the lake outside the window. Our server came to get our drink orders and then we waited for the Chef to come speak to us about Kaeli’s allergy. I didn’t make any notes, but I’m pretty sure that everything on the buffet was safe for her, minus the breads and most desserts. Everything was just delicious! I can’t remember everything we ate, nor did I take any food pics tonight. But, I do remember that we all made several trips up to the buffet, we ate plenty!!
Abby had a ton of fun during the celebration song
This is the one and only food pic I got tonight, Mickey Mousse! I’ll start by saying that desserts made only of chocolate are not really my thing (Gasp!), but this little treat was so so good!! It was basically an oreo cookie topped with chocolate mousse, delicious!
This was our first time having dinner at CMs, and while everything was good I think I prefer the breakfast buffet. I didn’t have any complaints about the food at all, I just think that I prefer breakfast foods when it comes to buffets.
We settled the bill and planned on walking back to the MK to catch the bus, and as we came down the escalator from the 4th floor Kaeli picked something up off of the ground. I wasn’t sure what it was, but a closer look revealed that it was a twenty dollar bill! We took a look around, but there was no one to be found to return it too, so we let her keep it and add it to her souvenir fund. She was thrilled, and so was I when she decided to split it with her sister without any nudging from Chris or I!
There was quite a crowd when we arrived at the POR bus stop, I think everyone was staying there with us! Every night we would walk past empty bus lines for other resorts, but the POR corral was ALWAYS full. Even so, we didn’t wait long, and everyone waiting was able to fit on the next bus that came along. We got off at the West Depot and headed back to our room. We were greeted by a new friend …
We're still not sure what it is, a bunny maybe? Any guesses?
I had gotten a text earlier that my friend Chris and her family had finally arrived. They were in Riverside Mill grabbing some dinner, so we grabbed our mugs and headed over there to say hi. We sat and chatted for a bit, and then they followed us back to our room to pick up the groceries I had for them from Garden Grocer. We wished them a good night and got ourselves ready for bed, the girls both had showers and settled in to watch the bedtime story with Duffy before drifting off. Chris watched some tv while I caught up on my notes and made a phone call to Jet Blue regarding our flight home. I forgot to mention earlier, but I had downloaded an app to my phone (Yapta) which tracks the price of your flight for you. If it happens to go down it will notify you right away so that you can request a refund. Well, while we were in the MK I received a notification that our flight had been lowered by $60 per person! By the time I called them that night, the price had gone up a little, but I still got a credit of $44 for the each of us! Now I have nearly $500 in credits to play with for next year.
Lights were out by 11PM and the alarm was set for an awful hour, we had an early morning for EMH at DHS the next day!!
