The "Okay-So-I-Finally-Finished-Last-Year's-TR-And-We're-Leaving-In-Two-Weeks" PTR - Page 6 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Your trip sounds fab. I know what you mean about relaxed trips. We were planning a different kind of trip for our trip in February. Originally I wasn't going to buy park tickets or do TS just chill at the resort and DTD and mini golf etc. . Somehow we have annual passes to WDW and Universal and 6 TS ADR,s. not really sure how it happened

We will be there for almost your exact same dates! We get in late Friday (11/2) and leave Saturday (11/10). We are doing a split stay, but we will be at the Beach Club Villas 11/4-11/8. If I see you I wil be sure to say hi!
I totally agree with you regarding the craziness of the Wine&Dine along with the F&WF. Did you know there is a big golf tournament that weekend too? I hope the crowds aren't too bad!
Great picks on the ADRs! Love the laid-back approach. Every year I think we're gonna do the same thing... then somehow I wind up over-planning. I just can't help myself! We want to try new places, but we also don't want to miss our favs. Makes for a lot of eating!
You will LOVE Cali Grill. The food is amazing and the fireworks view is magical. We only went once as a special treat, but we'll definitely be back!
You have me rethinking Cali Grill. We hope to stay at BLT next year after the cruise. That would be a nice 'last' meal before getting up & driving home the next day. Hmmmm......
Love your choices! We've decided not to do a dining plan this time too. For many of the same reasons. Can't wait to hear about the plans!
I'm looking forward to trying this approach. It's going to be Craig's job to reign me in once we get there and I realize I can't take it slow!

We got YS this last trip last minute when we cancelled Jiko the last night. I'm glad we did because it was one of our favorite meals.

Great cast and plans.
Now you have to reply like that every time!

Oh, and Happy Birthday, my friend!!!
Thank you, thank you
When the DP is Free...I say go for it!! But, I'm glad we worked out the prices for us because it's forcing us to slow down a bit and not be so scheduled. (Well, sort of )
Looks good! I always say that we are going to book less ADR's and just wing it - but I have a very adventurous eating daughter and husband to contend with and they like their food!!! I think Em enjoyed the F&W most as she was just trying just about every type of food out there!!
I have one son that will try a lot of things, but unfortunately one that can't try a lot of things. There are a few places we'd like to try but they won't work for him.

I need to stop reading TR's and PTR's... I'm just going to end up at 5 TS's a day if I don't knock it off!
Craig and I ate there for our 5th anniversary. It was nice, except that we missed Wishes because the monorail from the Poly parked itself outside of MK to wait for the crowd after Wishes so we had to hoof it from there to the CG and missed the show. Hopefully this year will be better

Fabulous ADR's.
I hope you enjoy the heck out of that cinnamon bun!!!!!
That would only make dinner more exciting. 3-D fireworks
I'm dreaming of that cinnamon bun

And I'm with Linny, I'll be holding out on CG until my boys can behave as well as yours (or I have other people - aka grandparents - to watch them).
I'm a bad influence. At least there are no pictures for the PTR. Make sure you eat for the TR because I'm trying to be better about taking food pics this time around.
What makes you think for one minute that my boys are going to behave at CG??

Well, this is the first year we haven't gotten the DP because the last three times it was Free so a budget was a must this trip.

If I get down there and Shaun T has ruined the MS Cinnamon bun for me, there is no where he'll be safe!!

I can totally see how that can happen. You start planning and it takes on a snowball effect. That's why we're all here

Absolutely say Hi if you see us down there
I think there has been a golf tournament every year this time. Is it the Children's Miracle Network? That hasn't been a problem in the past. I'm worried about the Epcot crowds and our resort location this year. But, it's still the BC and we'll still love it.

It's the planning creep. You start small and it creeps and creeps until it's huge!!

Well, we’ve finally made it to the “this-time-next-week…” portion of the PTR. See, when you start it late, you get to the good stuff sooner. (And I’m refusing to think about Sandy doing anything about my getting there ).
So, this time next week we’ll be on a DME bus on our way to the bubble. We leave JFK at 11:15 and land at MCO at 2:05. Then we’ll grab our one checked bag with a change of clothes and essentials, hop on a DME bus, smile our goofy grins watching the movie on the way, and end up at our beloved BC.
We do have our first ADR tonight, Coral Reef which was Tyler’s choice, at 6:00. So, we’ll most likely just stroll through the IG…aaahhh…and walk around to see what we can do at Epcot before dinner. Whatever we get done, we’ll be in the bubble.
(I might give the rest of the plans all together in case Sandy decides she doesn’t want this PTR finished )
Yay! I love getting to the "this-time-next-week" portion And I have nothing to say about Sandy, well except that she better not get in between me and Disney!!!!
