Spooky Foodie Fun - TR from Adventurous Stranger!! - Page 6 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Yay, I am happy you started your TR!!! I love your writing style And you're almost to the best part...meeting me of course, LOL OMG, don't you love Westin hotels? After my vacation I stayed at a Sheraton and I too was like, BEST BED EVER!!! And of course, drank a ton of their decaf Starbucks. I wish we had done MNSSHP on Thursday night since we were almost washed out Friday night, but we got to see the parade and fireworks which are my 2 must-do's of the party. Can't wait to hear you elaborate on the PftS.

I could really kick myself for not going to TL sooner. Even when i lived in FL and visited the World every 6-8 weeks, I never felt the need to go.

We couldn't believe we were only in the bubble less than 24 hours and already experienced so much. More fun to come...

Typhoon Lagoon sounds fun! I haven't been there since 1994. I don't think Shark Reef was there back then, but I wish it was. Sounds amazing! I do remember that wave pool though, I got crushed by a few waves myself. One actually slammed me down on the bottom of the pool, giving me a nice scrape on the side of my foot. Ouch! Lucky for me a cute lifeguard was nearby to save the day and escort me to first aid
Looking forward to the next installment!
I was worried the stinky weather might mess with some folk's flights! Glad your trip is next week, no crazy weather ahead. Ugh! didn't think to ask a cute lifeguard for assistance, with my luck it would be a girl coming to save me.

We do also like Blizzard Beach, but not as much as TL.
I had a moment flying down the Pineapple Plunger thinking how cool the Aquaduck must be. I do like the idea of snow at a waterpark but I'm not sure I'd like the attractions as much, a little to crazy for my taste!

TL is the water park that I would choose to visit, if we ever get there. I think when Jason is just a little bigger and a little more competent in the water. I haven't been there since my senior trip in HS in 1986!!
Our senior trip ('89) was to D.C. for the inauguration cool but not anywhere near Disney!!! Ketchakiddie Creek was cool for the kids (we accidentally got out of Castaway Creek one exit (jersey speak!) to early. But I'd give it time so he can go on the bigger slides cause they were so cool (excluding Mayday & Storm Slides)

Even with the rain it was a hoot. We got a little relaxation time in waiting to be allowed back in the water.

I went to cheddars two weeks ago for lunch and I'm going friday for a work lunch I love that place...we had them when I lived in TN. Anyway, wow your jack costume is amazing! I'm so glad you stayed in the Dolphin because Eric nagged me with questions the whole time we were at Kouzzinas and I have no idea about those two properties! I love the MNSSHP...I'm sorry you had a not so great time. I did get tons and tons of candy when I went three years ago. It was amazing the amount we brought home! But, like you said it was very crowded there! I love TL and BB...I tried to talk Eric into going to one this time around but we passed. I usually go to one when I visit my best friend down there! Glad I'm caught up! cant wait to read more!
Howdy neighbor! If you come by Cheddars Friday, swing by the bar and say hi!! Whenever you have time, make a trip over to the Swan/Dolphin and try one of the billion restaurants they have. If you like sushi, Kimonos is AMAZING!! We are def doing the F&W Classic again next year. I can't believe we got so jipped on candy! I have a gripe about the shirt too but that's later on. We will have to run into each other in the future to chat Disney!!

Don't laugh, I didn't even make it to the F&WF until Saturday and that was only at one booth! I made up for it the rest of the trip though!
OMG, we haven't been to TL for about 15 years, but we still giggle about the "WUMP, wheeeeee!" as the wave is "released" and the crowd squeals with excitement! DH & I haven't mentioned that for a while - gotta go do that and get a great reaction.
So glad you so much fun there. Yes, it's "just" a water park, but it's a WDW water park - it's just a completely different level!
Sure I will come by and say hello so if you see someone looking lost its me LOL If plans change I will let you know I"m supposed to meet a friend for dinner there thursday night too! Not sure I love cheddars taht much but its the it place right now and you know how that goes LOL I think we might actually go into those hotels one day just to see what they are all about! And yes! We need to meet up and talk disney soon We love sushis so hmmmm I"m def going to have to check out the swan and dolphin!
Just catching up again. You sure are packing a lot into your Disney time! I also like TL better than BB. I'm not a huge fan of the wedgie slides! TL has more non-slide things to do.

Great day at TL I haven't been to a water park in ages. I hope to go next time I'm in The World. Sorry you didn't get much candy at MNSSHP. Evan, my son got an entire bag full.
Sounds like TL is a great water park. One of these days we'll get there. My 4 year old loved the slide at AKL so I'm assuming he'll be up for bigger slides eventually.
