Our "No time for relaxation on this Disneymoon" pre-trip report - Page 6 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

14 days and counting!I went on a bit of a shopping spree to get the last few things I needed. I was on eBay today and bought a pack of those built in bra camisole undershirts in black and white so I have something to wear under the Disney shirts I found the other day at the thrift store. I also found some discounted Avon foundation I needed, a new larger SD card because I’m sure that I will be filling my camera and video camera with fun Disney footage! I also found a really great deal of Tori Spelling’s book Uncharted Territory, I’ve read her past 2 books and really enjoy her TV show so I thought at a bargain of $2.99, it was worth it for the plane ride. My dear friend Allison (who is also the girlfriend of my brother) bought me a super cute Minnie Mouse Messenger bag to wear in the parks, as well as a cute Minnie Mouse bow/headband. I have a couple pairs of Minnie Ears; I just don’t know how I feel about wearing them.
Last night I hit the dollar store and stocked up on our snacks and breakfast items. I got just about everything I could think of; pop tarts, granola bars, cinnamon rolls, cookies, you name it, I got it! I have that bag all packed up. I have a cousin that is an air flight attendant and she has been helpful in reminding me what I can take with us in a carry on, I made sure we had absolutely no liquids! The flip flops I ordered came in and even though it’s January and a bit chilly here in Ohio, I’ve been wearing them around to break them in! The last couple of things I need are to get Jeff a pair of sun glasses and buy the park tickets, I’ve found a few different places to get discount passes but we will only really be saving a few dollars compared to getting them in “the world” and with my grocery stores fuel perks, it will probably be best to just get them there with gift cards I will buy before we go. Is the only place to get them the TTC? I hope to buy them when I check in, or maybe I will look online at my reservation and see if I can just add them to my room. I got my Disney Magic Express pack in the mail a couple days ago! Yayyy! It’s getting so real, I literally can’t believe in 2 weeks we will getting on a plane and heading to Florida! I know we are going to use the shuttle service but I don’t think we will be putting our yellow luggage tags on our bags; I don’t want to take the risk of our luggage arriving so late at night.
Well, that’s all the updates I have so far, talk to you all soon!
Looks like you've got everything under control. The time will fly and you'll be there soon (at least that's what I'm hoping because we leave right after you!).
So getting close to the trip, 24 days away! Yay !!!! I love to measure things in terms of weekends, so only 3 weekends until I go! I have a few questions to ask, maybe you guys can help me out.
1. Where do I buy the refillable mugs? I don't have a dining plan.
2. If I buy Disney park tickets from a 3rd party, is it possible to get them transferred to my key to the world?
3. I can still get pics taken by a cast member and buy a photo-pass CD later right?
4. If my flight gets in at 8:20 pm, how late will it be when we get our bags?
5. Do people still swim in the pool in January?
any help would be great!
You can buy the mugs at the resort food court. I would buy the CD now before you go because you save $50 so you will only pay $99 instead of $149, you just have to print your receipt and there is a number on it so when you get back from your trip you just have to go onto the site input that number and the number of the photo pass card and you can then put boarders and signatures on the photos as well as crop the pictures. People still swim in January in the heated swimming pools but it is cold outside.
Today was quite exciting; I made it to the 10 day mark and got to check in online! I was a bit disappointed that it wouldn’t allow me to pay in full for my trip. I have $800 worth of Disney Gift Cards ready to be spent on the hotel! I also thought I would be able to request a certain area of the hotel. I’m not sure which is the best area to pick but I was thinking the Broadway section, mostly because I am a Broadway fan . I’m sure I will be able to give my requests to the CM who gives us our room. Boy do I feel sorry for that person since I will be paying in lots of gift cards! I checked online and wrote the amounts on all of them last night because as I received them, I never thought to do it so I had assortments of $25, $50 and $100 gift cards. You would think they say the amount on the actual card, but they don’t.
Jeff and I had a laundry bonanza this weekend. We found every lost sock, towel and t-shirt and made sure everything is washed so packing will be easier this coming weekend. I am working this week at getting my house spotless so we come home to a clean place after the trip. I am a bit weary of how the house will look up our return, my younger brother lives with us and since he will have the house to himself, I am sure it won’t look sparkly clean when we get back
This weekend we have our nieces first , we are going to hold out on getting her a gift and we are going to pick her up something in FL. I am thinking something princess themed, I hope she won’t mind waiting, although at 1 years old, I’m sure she won’t. Even though I don’t want this trip be over quickly, we are kind of looking forward to not having to “save” for anything. For the past year and a half we have been saving for the weeding and then honeymoon, it will be nice to have a couple months to just relax about finances. These last couple weeks have been tight, I told Jeff that I am refusing to go grocery shopping until every last bit of food is gone from the house, that way we will have more fun money for the trip, I jokingly suggested we had pasta with sloppy joe sauce…he didn’t think it was that funny .
As the days get closer, I am getting more and more anxious, and excited. I just can’t believe we are actually going to WALT DISNEY WORLD! Well until next time, M-I-C, see you really soon, K-E-Y, why, because we like you, M-O-U-S-E! Sorry, just had to throw that our there lol
How exciting to be able to check in online! I haven't decided if I'm going to do online check in yet. I've got to make up my mind soon though. I can check in in 2 days! I hope your trip is wonderful. We enjoyed our WDW honeymoon so much. I hope you do too!
Congrats on your wedding! And I am so excited for you because this trip sounds so great!
Just check the weather, I'm sure you have, but we have been surprised by cold snaps in Jan and Feb, like wear my gloves all day cold snaps! So dress in layers and bring gloves, hats and scraves because it can get really chilly when the sun goes down.
Can't wait to read all about your trip!

I decided to do early check in and see what we get, since we haven't stayed on property before I figured we won't know what we like until we get there!
