Cheaper by the Dozen – Lukas’ 1st Birthday Extravaganza! - Page 6 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

We all know the dining choices are a very important process in the Disney trip planning, but everyone I’m going with – not so much. The Disney veterans gave some input, but really I had to make the decisions myself. It’s overwhelming to make food choices for 10 people (the additional 2 weren’t going at the time I planned all this, so that’s a whole ‘nother post). I figured one meal a day would be ok so we don’t have to rush around everyday to eat – something I learned from Dylan’s 1st birthday trip. We have a dinner planned every night but one and one character breakfast as well. I tried to pick places that I thought would be good for a big group. So without further adieu … Sat 9/17
Breakfast - @ the airport
Lunch – depending on if we wait for Kevin & Becki to arrive at the airport we might grab something at MCO or wait until we get to the lounge
Dinner @ Via Napoli @ 5:45pm
Thu 9/22
Breakfast – lounge (My parents, brother, & Dylan will be eating at Pizzafari after the Sunrise Safari)
Lunch – CS somewhere
Dinner – 50s PTC @ 4:35pm (Ryan & Laura have an ADR here for 2 @ 4:20pm, so hopefully we can sit together or at least close)
Fri 9/23
Breakfast – lounge
Lunch – CS @ MK or Contemporary
Dinner – Garden Grill @ 6:30pm (Ryan & Laura have an ADR here for 2 @ 5:35pm)
Sat 9/24
Breakfast – lounge
Lunch – CS somewhere
Dinner - @ MCO L

Looks like you are eating at the lounge a lot. I guess they offer enough food to make it a meal? This is good to know since we will most likely be doing the same thing.
This is why we have started to talk about staying club level and ditching the dinning plan. Sounds fabulous.
We had two ADR's last year that were 10 min off from my SIL, we got there early and told the CM out front and both times we were all seated together and all was fine.
Have you done GC before? I am really wanting to try that place next time, and we just had a blast eating on the bleachers in Casey's last fall. Josie goes nuts for those old school Mickey cartoons.
PassPorter's Free-Book to Walt Disney World It’s hard to believe anything is free at Walt Disney World; but there are actually a number of things you can get or do for little to no cost. Perhaps more importantly; you can discover overlooked attractions and little-known details most people whiz by on their way to spend money. Click here to see free sample pages from the e-book! Get this popular e-book free of extra charges when you join the PassPorter's Club for as little as $4.95. A club pass includes access to all our other e-books; e-worksheets; super-size photos; and more! This e-book is also available for separate purchase in the PassPorter Online Store for just $5.95.
Nice plans Kelly, I'll be interested to see how the multiple ADR's work. We have 11 going and on two ADR's I had to make 2 bookings for the same time party of 5 and party of 6. I'm still hoping to convert to 1 booking but not having any luck right now.

For some of us - yes it will be enough. Breakfast of course is the easiest and they have cereal, bagels, juice, milk, yogurt so it's easy for breakfast. Other times I think it can be enough to make a light meal.

We have never done the dining plan - just hasn't really suited us yet.
Good to know about the being seated together.
I'm assuming you meant GG (Garden Grill). We've eaten there 3 times now, so this will be the 4th - we go every other trip. This was the dinner we had on Dylan's actual 1st birthday so I thought it appropriate to include it on this trip since his birthday is 2 weeks after Lukas'.

Well, technically we have 3 ADRs for Garden Grill as we have 2. Via Napoli is the same way. We shall see!

That's ok - maybe that would be worth the price of club level then. Mike has always brought beer back in the room for him for times when it's not out and I think I'll be doing the same, but maybe with wine.
dinner choices sounds great! I think the lounge sounds like a wonderful thing to have with small kids, so many times they don't eat or want what you are having in the parks, so having snacks and things to nibble on back at the room is great. we may have to try to book club level at least once at 7 months out.

Great dining plans! I think you'll be fine with breakfast at the lounge, but I wasn't exactly thrilled with the selection we found around lunchtime. There just wasn't much and it didn't seem, to us, as if it would be enough for a meal. There's a lot later - the cheese selection is quite something, as are the desserts. Do ask for the details of what comes out when - we didn't and missed the best bits on our first day there.
Looks like you have some really good meal choices Have to say kind of glad ours don't coincide this way based on size of your little band I know where I'm at will still have some food left (only kidding) See you at MNSSHP Just look for smile behind Big Mustache

I love the tattoo Your dining plans look great and yummy choices. I love the idea of the lounge, I would have loved to get club level this trip, but by the time I knew we were adding an AKL leg onto the trip there was no club level studios left but I guess that is a good thing, if we did I don't think I would ever leave the resort...lol
So many great choices! Club level snacks sound great and quick!
Thanks! They usually are yummy!

The breakfast and night time snacks are great with little ones! The other time we stayed with Dylan club level Mike would get him a banana and Fruit Loops and he was good.

It's a little difficult, but overall I'm pretty much doing what I want - I am the planner.

You're right Cheryl! The dinner options are much better. At least the mara is near by if we need more. If all I had was the juice they have out I'd be ok - I love it!

This will be the 3rd time staying club level at AKL - and it definitely spoils you! Thank goodness for DVC or we would not experience it at all.
