”Really……you are ALL named Lisa???”……… - Page 6 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Wow! What a fantastic day at AK!!!!! Love the shirts and all of the photos. So glad yáll were able to have so much fun and now you can relay it to us! Can't wait for the next installment!
Wow you are sure meeting up with a lot of characters, I never knew there were so many in AK. The shirts are great, can't wait to see the others you have lined up. How awesome to be picked to be in the parade, that is definitely a magical moment!
After making a pit stop back at BWV to freshen up…………and grab some adult beverage ! We headed over to MK!!! Yeah, my 2 favorite parks in the same day!!!!
We parked at the TTC and then took the tram……….
Here we are!
Then the monorail to MK!
When we entered MK, we noticed that the new Mickey meet and greet area stated that there was only a 5 minute wait………..so in the que we went!!! It moved so quickly that I really wouldn’t even consider it 5 minutes….unless you count that as the wait time once you entered Mickey’s dressing room!
Gotta find the right page for Mickey & Minnie to sign!!!
We took quite a few photos of the new Meet and Greet area!
Then it was our turn with the BIG cheese himself and his gal!!!
A trip to MK is just not a trip to MK without meeting the BIG guy himself! It is the reason the park exists right……….well besides Cindy’s castle…….which I keep trying to convince her to move out and let me move in!!! They say I look good in blue !
Any hoo……after our fantastic meet and greet with Mickey and Minnie ~ we headed out into the park, I believe we stopped in a few of the shops on Main Street to peek around at the new items!
We stopped for a photo op in front of the castle…….
Then headed into Tomorrowland, where Lisa # 1 and I noticed that there was only a 20 minute wait for Space Mountain……..so we grabbed a couple of cold beverages and went in, while Chicken Little…….oops I mean Lisa # 3 went to do some looking around in more shops!
Well, Lisa # 1 and I entered in the building – got through Most of the que area – then BOOM – dead STOP! And now we were surrounded by LOTS of people………we were starting to think….this is NOT going to be a 20 minute wait………we kept moving with the que ~ playing some of the games along the way……..sipping those cold beverages we had bought…………then we get to the top of the que line where you can see the control room…………and this is where we knew ~ there was a BIG error on the wait time sign outside!!! That que line wrapped around and around and around and then some on both sides!!! YIKES!!! Call Lisa # 3, we are going to be a bit longer than 20 minutes………she’s fine with it – she is going to see Philarmagic! WHAT??? Oh well………we continue to wait………continuing to consume those beverages…….finally after about 50 minutes or so, we were boarding our spaceship…………and guess what? That diet coke was empty!!! But my bladder was NOT!!!
We got on……………
Had a BLAST! I screamed enough for everyone on that ride, and probably the entire park!!! As much as I LOVE that ride, I hate it all the same!!! Something about that darkness and all those twists and turns and hills………oh and did I mention that I was in the front…………and my bladder was FULL?!?!?!
I know TMI………..but it was kinda funny how quickly I ran to the ladies room after the ride!!!
It was cutting it very close to our ADR time for Crystal Palace – so a quick call to Lisa # 3, she was near there, so she will go check us in – we got there right behind her, got our pager, and within 5 minutes, we were led to our table ~ which was decorated with the paper streamers and confetti to celebrate our birthdays!!!
Our food (with TIW discount + tip = $114.53):
Along came our friends:
Pooh………..
Piglet………
Tigger…………
And last but not least…….Eeyore!!!
I do have to say that although the food is DELICIOUS here…………the character interaction is a bit less appealing……don’t get me wrong – we totally enjoyed our time with Pooh and Friends – it just takes forever for them to make their way around the entire restaurant! I believe I had heard that it takes them 1 hour and 15 minutes to circulate the entire place!!! And for us, with it being a buffet, we can usually be in and out in less than an hour, probably less than 45 minutes!
So after our bellies were full and our autograph books were getting full as well ~ we were on our way to ride some rides!!! First stop: POTC ~ sorry no pics of the ride......I am really missing my Nikon DSLR at this point..............
After getting all wound up with Johnny and all........we had to have a little fun of our own!!!
Next Stop: Frontierland to take a ride on the wildest ride in the wilderness! BTMR was only about a 15 minute wait till we were in our train (we rode # 3!!!)!
After, we tried to take a ride on Splash………the sign stated 20 minute wait……..got in the line, up to the stairs (with some very annoying unattended young teen boys) and the line did not move for quite some time ~ so we decided this would have to wait until another visit – as we really wanted to catch the Main Street Electrical Parade.
We found a spot in front of the Hall of Presidents (my cousin Meghan and her friend Jeanette met up with us………Meghan & Jeanette had done the college program and continue to work a few hours a year to maintain cast member status and make their vacation out of it!!)
Me & Meghan!
Then came the parade! Lisa # 1 and # 3 had never seen this parade! I LOVE it! Although I do miss the dancing butterflies from Spectromagic (which I still would really love to have that job!)!
Some favorites from the parade!
The end is very meaningful to us………as Lisa # 1’s DH just recently served quite a bit of time in Afghanistan!
After the parade, we made our way with the other thousands of peeps through the crowd and grabbed a spot in front of the castle to see the new Memories and You show and Wishes!
The Memories and You show is BEAUTIFUL!!!! Very hard to capture on camera, but absolutely amazing!!!! I just can’t even describe it!!! You just have to see it for yourself!
And wishes never disappoints!
After Wishes, we said good-bye to Meghan & Jeanette…….they were driving back to New England the next morning…….bummer they were going to miss our parade debut! Then we headed back over to Tomorrowland to take a spin on Buzz Lightyears Space Ranger Spin!
And yes…….we squeezed all 3 of us in one car!!! We had so much fun!!! (Did I mention we were feeling a bit juvenile?!?!)
Then we made it just in time to be one of the last ones to enter Carousel of Progress………..a favorite for all 3 of us!!!
It was a good ending to a long, FUN day!!!!
So now it was time to say good-night to MK………and we had decided to board the ferry back to the TTC (we were trying to use all the types of Disney transportation!)……….then to wait for a tram to bring to our car! A little side note here………….while waiting with the other thousands of people for the tram ~ there was this man and woman with their kids (don’t remember how many…..seems like there were quite a few of them?) and they were obviously tired and they were bickering ~ either not caring who heard them or unaware of how loud they were ~ and Dad (who keep in mind was a larger man, probably a good 6’3, 250+) says to his tiny (maybe 5’2, 100lb) wife…..”I didn’t get to go on the ride that goes UP and down and ALL around……cuz I had to wait in that line for that character…..Pluto or Dumbo or whatever his name was…..” very pouty like emotion in his voice!!! So me, the ice breaker in all situations states “Dude – there is a BIG difference between a dog and an elephant!” – Both husband and wife look at each other – she chuckles…….him, not so much!!! Sorry – we thought it was pretty darn funny – and we are still laughing about it today! BUT imagine, 3 of us, still acting very juvenile……laying in bed at 1 am trying to fall asleep after a few more adult beverages and OMG, we kept saying that Pluto/Dumbo line and absolutely cracking ourselves up!!!
Up next: Epcot & a PP meet!!!

What a great time!!! You got the BEST character pictures! And you look like you were having the best time! You say you were feeling juvenile...what's Disney if you can't feel like a kid again?! It's the best way to go! What a great trip so far! I cannot wait to hear more!
And I hope your DD feels better soon! Oh, softball. I play softball too! (I played for Groton, then for Fitch HS. Does she play for Mystic?) I hope all goes well with her knee and the ortho!

Thanks Mandy! We did have a GREAT time!!! The character interactions were just amazing!!
Thanks for the pixies for DD too! She plays for Cutler - used to for Mystic Little league - poor kid doesn't stand a chance with her joints - she is an avid dancer many hours a week - plus plays basketball and softball.
Funny........we live in the same area........probably have passed each other at Wal-mart or Target or something!
