3 Amigas? Not So Scary! We're back! TR - updated 12/10 - Complete with Collectibles! - Page 6 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Bummer Sheri had to work but looks like you're off to a great start. I saw some pics on Facebook and it looked like you all had a great time.
I can't wait to get something chocolate and caramel from that store!
Great start to the report! Yummy food choices already! I really want to go for F&WF one year.
Looking forward to reading more - and love the new sig pic of the three of you in sombreros!

So after the caramel cookie, Terri and I wandered around the world some more. We debated getting FPs for Soarin' but figured we'd wait for Sheri, who finally showed up around 4:00 and was chatting with some of her old friends. Sheri was in the mood to get caught up on FAB, and so we did some of that.
Of course, everyone was clamoring to take our picture. This is the only time Terri managed to look taller than Sheri or me, and she's quite proud of this photo.
We didn't want to wait for Soarin' so the three of us did Spaceship Earth. I sat behind Sher & Terr and put rabbit ears behind them, which unfortunately you can't see in this photo -- but trust me, they were sporting rabbit ears. Of course, that meant that I was a male cartoon character in my story of the future, but it was worth it just to hear Sher & Terr laugh.
We watched Sheri's pals attempt to drink all these beers for awhile.
We stopped at the Ireland booth where I enjoyed brown bread with three cheeses -- and I think Sheri did the same.
Of course, bread and cheese can make a girl awfully thirsty, right?
That strawberry balsamic chiller was delish -- and you could definitely taste the vodka in that one.
.
Before I got too sloshed (which actually I didn't -- it was hot enough that I craved $2.50 ice water ), I managed to get some fairly lovely shots of the sunset.
Darn -- maybe I was a bit more sloshed than I thought -- that one is a bit blurry -- but the colors are pretty! I did better on these two:
OK, now it's almost time for Illuminations. Sheri decided she "needed" a Grey Goose, so Terri and I held our positions on the bridge to France. Sheri came back with her beverage and a handsome young man -- how DOES Sheri do it?
He said his name was Jason and he had a bet with his brother about whether he'd be able to drink his way around the world -- but unfortunately he was still missing 2 countries. He was there with his brother and his brother's family, who eventually caught up with our growing group on the bridge. We told him we doubted he'd find two more bars open after Illuminations, but we wished him He was a lot of fun.
My fireworks shots are pretty bad, but I know Terri got some great ones. So get ready to see those after she's loaded them in here. Here's one decent one I managed to get:
PassPorter's Free-Book to Walt Disney World It’s hard to believe anything is free at Walt Disney World; but there are actually a number of things you can get or do for little to no cost. This e-book documents over 200 free or cheap tips to do before you go and after you arrive. You could save a considerable amount of money following these tips. Perhaps more importantly; you can discover overlooked attractions and little-known details most people whiz by on their way to spend money. Click here to see free sample pages from the e-book! Get this popular e-book free of extra charges when you join the PassPorter's Club for as little as $4.95. A club pass includes access to all our other e-books; e-worksheets; super-size photos; and more! This e-book is also available for separate purchase in the PassPorter Online Store for just $5.95.
Gorgeous sunset photos! I even like ths slightly blurry Spaceship earth one. The sky must have been absolutely amazing in person. And Sheri's young man is pretty easy on the eyes also.
Then Terri headed to her car and the drive to OKW while Sheri and I tottered off to the monorail to TTC and the easy walk from there to Tahiti. A long day for us all, but we'd made it to F&WF together!
The next day we took our time getting up and about, knowing we'd be joining Sheri's pals for breakfast at Kona around 10:00. Sheri and I waited for Terri's arrival -- she was getting booted out of OKW for that one night, so she was going to spend Thursday night on our couch -- which turns into a single bed very handily.
So we stood on our balcony and awaited Terri's arrival. Look -- there she is!
Then the three of us headed to Kona for my very first Tonga Toast ever! I think some of you know Sheri's pals, who fortunately for us had made a ressie for too many people -- we were very happy to fill in for the absent guests.
Below are Molly, Joey & Travis.
I asked Sherri to be Vanna White and hold up the menu:
Since my Maleficent headgear works better with flattened hair, I decided Thursday would be a perfect day to wear my Pirate Goofy hat -- nothing flattens your hair better than a Pirate Goofy hat. I'm just sayin'. Here I am, with Terri.
Did I like my Tonga Toast? What do YOU think? Well, first I had to pour on a little Strawberry Compote. Wait for it. . . .
Well, maybe just a little bit more. . . .
Well, maybe a WHOLE lot more. . . .
I'd love to show you how much food was left on my plate -- but there wasn't anything left. Not one crumb. Terri kept accusing me of eating half a loaf of bread -- and she may have a point there.
Oh yeah, NOW I see what you've all been talking about. Tonga -- Tonga -- Tonga Toast!
OK, before leaving the Poly behind for the day, here's a cute hidden Mickey in the hallway carpet.
Then Terri drove Sheri and me to my very favorite park (and Sheri's least fave), because I was craving just a couple of hours there.
I had made a 12:00 lunch ressie at the Brown Derby, which we obviously were too full to keep. In fact, it was 12:05 when we walked up to the BD and I begged the hostess to let us come later. She suggested 3:00 as the absolute latest, and she gave me a floating ressie for around that time. (But she didn't call it "floating." What the heck did she call it?) But it meant I might be getting my BD meal after all!

Gee, we were having so much fun in such a short amount of time. you managed to leave out our unsuccessful quest for the hot tub at the poly on wednesday night...we did wade around in the volcano pool. ok, so who knows why there is no hot tub there? i need my hot tub, so much as i loved the room (aside from the sink problem, no magnified mirror for my old eyes and the horrid lighting in the bathroom for puttin ones best face forward), i would not stay there again. but glad i finally completed stays at all the monorail resorts! gee, i wonder why i never got any photos with molly, trav and joey? hmmmm...not one single one do i have from the trip. must have been too busy eating and drinking...
Sheri, I knew there was SOMETHING else from Wednesday night I was leaving out. Yes, we did put on our bathing suits (and we looked mighty fine, but you'll have to take my word for that ), but the water was a bit too cold for our liking and the slide was locked, so we just got our feet wet.
Unlike Sheri, I liked the Poly just fine. The room was large enough for three people to share (easily), and I liked the dimmer switches on the lights above the beds. (I wish all the resorts had dimmer switches -- I find the reading lights to be much too bright at most of the Disney resorts.) I liked the lush vegetation.
If we'd stayed longer, I would have also liked the close proximity to 'Ohana.
.
OK, so now it's Thursday and we're at DHS. Naturally, we had to ride ToT -- I mean, really we did. That's still my favorite attraction in all the parks. I really like the factor.
Then we saw the Muppets because that's another favorite, and we walked around the backlots. We could see the progress being made on putting up the Osborne Family Lights for the big holiday season to come.
Of course, we enjoyed the Halloweeny stuff in the shops.
Then it was about 2:30 (where does the time go ) and we decided we were hungry enough AND we would soon need to get beautiful for our MNSSHP festivities, SO we went back to the Brown Derby and were soon seated for our late luncheon.
Back in February, Sheri and I celebrated my upcoming March bday all over WDW, so I was determined to have a least one celebration of her July bday. Shortly before leaving for Orlando, I discovered that Terri had had a bday just a few weeks ago -- so I added her name and luckily the Brown Derby had gotten the message just right:
