The We NEED This Vacation / It's Now Or Never 9/18-9/27 PTR - COMPLETE!! 9/18 - Page 6 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

The boy across the street who usually watches the dogs is going away for the last weekend that we'll be away for. So is my dad. So are my aunt and cousin. So now with just about 2 weeks to go, I have to find an in-home pet sitter (Casey the Lab isn't current on his vaccines so he can't get boarded, and if he gets to stay home then Layla does too! ) to come by 3 times a day or more and won't charge me the equivalent of a Disney trip to do it!
I guess we've always relied on the boy watching them so frequently, or had other family around to fill in, that we've never been in this situation.
Oh well...
Tomorrow (my birthday! ), I'm treating myself and ordering the Baggallini Messenger bag. I was a little iffy about it, but then I realized (or rationalized), that 1) I really like the amount of stuff it holds, 2) I like the "secret" little pouch in the strap, and most importantly, 3) It wouldn't be on my bad shoulder, which would help me heal a bit. It'll probably irritate my right shoulder after awhile, but according to my physical therapist, now I also have tendonitis in my left shoulder where I had the surgery
Please send lots of pixies and positive thoughts that I can find a good, trustworthy, affordable person to take care of the dogs!

I hope you find a sitter for those two adorable babies. They are so cute. , Congrats on the Baggalini, I ended up buying a travelmate bag instead of the baggalini but it is very similar and I love it.
I just found your PTR and I'm finally all caught up...phew! First of all !!! Hope you have a wonderful day.
Looks like we're going to be in Disney at the same time and based on your ADRs, we will be in one of the same parks on the same day! September 25 is our Epcot day, so maybe we'll bump into each other.
Good luck finding a good dog sitter. Our neighbor usually watches our cat and while we were at the ocean in July for a 3 day get-away, she forgot and never fed him!!! As soon as I walked in the door and saw his cans of food just sitting on the kitchen counter I lost it. I usually call to check in on him, but the last few times she had everything under control and I felt like I was bothering her, so the one time I don't and look what happened. Needless to say, I'm using another neighbor next time.
Happy birthday. Hope you have had a great day today.
Teppan Edo is delish. We have eaten there every trip except our first, so I am kind of bummed that we won't be eating there in December.
Your plans look great.
Pixies for you to find a great sitter for your pups!
for finding a dog sitter for your two very beautiful dogs!
to you a bit early! Hope you like your Baggallini.
Thanks!! They just shipped it today, I can't wait to try it out

Thank you! That's really good to know - I'm still trying to find an ADR time to be there for the fireworks. Hopefully something'll open up!

Thanks!! This is my first bag of that type, so I'm pretty excited to try it out.

That is HORRIBLE about the cat sitter I would've had an absolute fit. I can't post here the things that would've been said, but I'm sure you thought a few of them!
Sometimes, it doesn't even matter if it's a professional or not. The dog I had before Layla was boarded when I went away. The kennel called to say that his arthritis was acting up so they were moving him to be boarded at my vet's. I called the vet a few times a day and they kept saying he's fine, he's eating, he's resting, etc. So you can imagine my surprise when I went to pick him up and they brought him out on a stretcher and said, "You mean, you didn't know he was paralyzed?"
The kennel says that they took him into the vets walking but arthritic. The vet says they brought him in paralyzed. I'll never know what really happened, but it just goes to show how hard it is to find honest, trustworthy people - even professionals

Thanks!! I ate there my first time last year, and couldn't believe how good it was. I'm really looking forward to eating there this year.
As I've posted in another forum, I'm not feeling very excited about this trip
Instead of feeling the good kind of excited, I'm feeling the bad kind of anxious/nervous/worried , with the sense that something terrible is going to happen. I'm not sure if it's general stress causing it, but that's a pretty good guess. I'm confident that once the time gets closer, or when we get IN Disney, I'll be fully excited and happy.
As I've mentioned, I have a sleep disorder. It's to the point that I can't sleep without medication . Except, I called to refill the prescription this morning (at the pharmacy where I'm employed!), and they canceled my coverage - without telling me! I'm still an employee, although listed as "inactive", but I'm out on medical disability with current doctor's notes. I'm shocked and appalled and pretty angry that they just canceled my coverage with no warning. Now I'm out of medication and nowhere near the money to pay for it. It's gonna be a looong weekend!
It's so crazy to think that 2 weeks from right now, barring any disasters, I'll be asleep (well, in bed ) in Disney!!
I left off on our third day, after the maybe-we-will/maybe-we-won't do a 3 Park Hop day for our second day. That's still debatable, and we probably won't figure that out until that night. It'll basically go off of how we feel.
Day 3
Our third day is also a DHS day.
Pat will most likely want to try TSMM first thing.
I love the Animation Academy. I'm still so proud of my Pluto that I drew last year. We went twice last year. The first time, the animator was wonderful and took a vote to pick a character that nobody had drawn before. The second time, the different animator just said, "Today we'll be drawing Pluto"
Not a big deal, but my first one is so special that I didn't want to re-do anything! So I spent the whole time trying to draw the other characters that were on the walls
We'd like to see Indiana Jones and the Lights, Motor, Action show. I'm not a huge fan of LMA, but I'm pretty sure Russ would like it I love action movies and car chases and explosions, but the show just kind of drags on for me. A lot of talking in between things, I guess. I don't mind seeing it again though.
Pat will want to see MuppetVision . I'm not a fan, but Russ will probably like it. He loved Muppet Treasure Island
I'm so, so glad that Sounds Dangerous is scheduled to be closed. I really didn't want to see/hear that again
I definitely want to see the Voyage of the Little Mermaid That's one of my favorite Disney movies. In fact, for my birthday I got a Little Mermaid balloon I it though!
We usually ride The Great Movie Ride at least once every time we go to DHS Even though you get used to it, it's still a lot of fun for us. Only once have we gotten the cowboy version.
And, of course, a TON of Tower of Terror!!
We have an 8:55 ADR for 50's Prime Time. Pat and I have a lot of fun there, even though when I try to get him in trouble, I get yelled at for tattling It'll be very interesting with Russ added in, since that's how our dinners usually are when we eat together!
Up Next....MNSSHP!!
Also, here's one of the desserts that I had for my birthday. I don't know the exact name of it, but it was a bunch of cupcakes that had icing on top as if it was a cake. You just pulled the cupcakes apart and had the icing on top. I really like how the border is a Mickey thing, with the "hidden mickeys" on the border!
I am sooo sorry about your insurance!! Last Thanksgiving my mom got sepsis...she almost didn't make it. Then we found out she had cancer & had to have part of her right lung removed the first of the year. While she was out recovering from her surgery they got rid of her job & she lost her insurance horrible really!!! What an awful thing to do to someone hit them while there down!!! Makes me sick!! I am truly sorry about what happened!! That just goes back to what I said before you are right to feel upset you have a lot going on! And not getting adequate sleep is super hard! I will pray for things to get better for you!! It probably won't do much but maybe try over the counter sleep-aid. Or call your doc ask if they have free samples, or something cheaper to prescribe you. O & I am not sure what astrazenecais but I think they help with meds. If you are on disability maybe you could get medicaid to help out for awhile. I am sorry I hope things get better soon! Just try to stay calm, think as many happy thoughts as you can, & remember you’re going to Disney & it will be awesome!! Life has its way of working things out just try to take it one day at a time hun!
