Hubby told me to pack my bags (Live TR) - Update 9/4 - Page 6 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Great updates Terri! It sounds like you had a great meal at FF! We had some of the same items just a few weeks ago and they were great! Great that you got to spend some time with Sha and her fam on her favorite ride! Your view is lovely as well! I read that Silva a few weeks ago on iBooks--I just love his characters!

Sounds like a fabulous trip so far!! I like all your down time, it sounds so relaxing. And what a sweet hubby you have for those beautiful flowers!!
Can't wait for more!
It sounds perfect, Terri. Meeting with friends, flowers from Chris (and a visit from him to come), fun park time, relaxation and a great meal. It's only Day 1! I love the tomato/mozzarella salad at FF. The balsamic dressing is fantastic.
Woke up about 630am, realized I didn't have to get up and go anywhere - rolled over and went back to sleep until about 830... ah the joins of vacation! After getting dressed and thinking about my non-existent plans for the day - I decided on EPCOT. I walked from the Boardwalk to the International Gateway and then right onto Soarin'... that's right - A WALK ON!!! I can not recall the last time I did that.
I took some photos on my walk to Soarin'
After a great flight over California - I headed to Spaceship Earth for a little quality time with Dame Judy - before hearing my stomach grumble and deciding I needed a little nourishment. Before making any food choices, I explored the items for sale in Mousegear - and for the life of me - nothing screamed "BUY ME!!" (for which my checking account and my husband are very thankful).
I left Mousegear - and headed to a soda/ice cream/snack stand in front of Mission Space and got a hot (very hot) salty pretzel and a bottle of water. I ate half the pretzel before I got rid of it since A) I was full, and B) it was cold... (and thus doughy and yucky). Made the rounds of test Track and Mission Space (another walk on) before deciding that it was getting hot, I wanted lunch and then wanted to take a break. I had a wee bit of a headache from Mission Space - so while reviewing the lunch options - I did the clockwise route through World Showcase. I stopped in a few of the countries and took photos - including Italy. I never realized the grapevine in the back by the fountain are REAL GRAPES...
I stopped at the American Adventure (have not been in here in YEARS) and saw the show. I had hoped to find Voices of Liberty performing, but no such luck.
After the show - I decided to get a kaki gori (ok when did they remove the cone and put it in a cup - resulting in LESS kaki gori for the same money? I am sure its been awhile, but I just discovered this ).
I continued on my way - and walked back to the International Gateway. As I reached the top of the hill - I saw the Beach Club laid out in front of me - and it hit me..... Beaches and Cream!! I want Beaches and Cream...
It was about 1:30pm when I arrived, and Stormalong Bay was hoppin!! Someday I am going to stay at Beach Club (or Yacht Club) just so I can play in that pool!! I approached the podium, and told Derrick from the UK I would like lunch, and sitting at the counter was fine... he told me I could have counter, table or booth - they were D.E.A.D.... WOW. Can't recall the last time I saw this place that empty. I went in, grabbed my seat at the counter - ordered my cheeseburg (with provalone, no bun) from Jane - and ended up in a discussion with Warren and Dana (they were on scoop duty for the folks coming in just for to go ice cream). We talked about Chris' plan to come down tonight and join me for the evening, how he had sent me to WDW without him, what a great guy he is... how lucky I am.. (don't I know it) and while all of this was going on - I was sending Facebook updates from my new Droid X (my early Bday present from the aforementioned fabulous hubby)... when a Facebook message popped up from Chris telling me to call him as soon as I could.
So I ordered my ice cream - I specifically asked for a "small mint chocolate chip sundae with caramel" and this is what arrived....
However I can say with pride that I finished it (never let good ice cream go to waste people!). While eating, I called Chris - he told me there was a change in his plans. I figured that meant he wasn't coming to WDW... I was wrong, he was coming, and because he had moved his doctor's appts that were supposed to be at 9am on Wed - he could stay the WHOLE DAY!! YEAH!! I did say earlier that I was lonely and missing him, didn't I?
SO - after finishing lunch and dessert, paying the bill and thanking Warren and Dana for great company - I headed back to the boardwalk for some book/pool/relax time and to wait for Chris' arrive around 630pm. I also mad plans to meet Pper Mindy (home4us123) that evening for Wishes and hopped on the computer to book a dinner for Chris and I at Liberty Tree Tavern around 725.
Chris arrived at 630, called me from the Lobby - I went down to get him, brought him up to the room, he changed clothes to something less work and more park appropriate and we headed down to catch the bus to the Magic Kingdom!
It's great he was able to remove the coconut - I also share that allergy, and it's so hard for them to work with that, because a lot of time it's IN the food, or the juices contaminate it. Great thing for fresh food!
I can't believe that's a SMALL ice cream I might have to stop by there for some ice cream.
Can't wait to read the next updates - great news that Chris was able to spend a little more time with you!
After arriving at MK - we stopped on Main Street to get put photo taken...
And then walked back to LTT. We were seated a little early, which was nice - this was a first time dining experience for Chris and we really enjoyed it - although we both agree that the per person serving size is too large... we had so much left over.
After finishing dinner, we waddled out of LTT and headed for the Hub to find a spot to meet Mindy and clan (we had been texting throughout the day). We sat down in the Hub, on the Tomorrowland side near the snack stand and settled in to wait about 15 minutes for Wishes to begin. One thing about low crowds - it does mean no parade on some nights.
Mindy and her eldest son Nicholas arrived and the fireworks started. I had been debating if I should take pictures... I have 100s of photos from Wishes - but as usual, I took more... here are a few.
Tink Flies!
I know some people preferred the Summer Night-tastic fireworks - but I prefer Wishes! (I've already told you I'm sappy). After fireworks - we said our goodnights to Mindy and headed out to catch the bus back to the Boardwalk.
Mindy, Nicolas and I
Next - Day 3 - now that the hubby is here - do my plans change??
Thanks for the updates! Your trip sounds very relaxing so far and how great that Chris gets to join you for the entire day tomorrow. Hope you guys have a wonderful time tomorrow!
