As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

After exiting RPW, the rain had started. We met the boys for the 2:30 p.m. show of FotLK. We were anxious to see it again, & Logan hadn’t seen it, so, it was a good time to get out of the rain for a bit. Awesome as usual!! I wondered what the boys had been doing during their alone time. Logan told me he had had his picture taken with one of the characters. I was wondering who he would possibly get his picture taken with without my coaxing……..hmmmm………..
Highlight of his trip thus far!
Other than meeting Pocahantas, they said they had gotten a snack at the Dino Diner. Of course, this will be the beginning of “how much did it cost?”…..“where’s your receipts?”….“did you use a SC?”…….“Uh…I dunno?” So not sure if any DP credits were used here or if Logan just paid for it. Guys, you know I need receipts to keep accurate records!!
After FotLK, the boys wanted lunch. We went over to Restarauntosauras. Logan got chicken tenders/fries/coffee, Nathan got bacon cheeseburger/fries/soda & we got an extra soda. Total: $32.93 (2 CS credits). After eating, the boys decided to go back to the room to rest. It wasn't raining much by now, so Peter & I decided to check out the Tree. We hadn't gotten any close-up pictures last trip, so we headed there to get some taken.
We decided to check out ITTBAB, as we have never seen it. After that we headed back to the room- just missing MJJP. Haven't seen this parade, but it would have to wait until another time. I had a slight headache, so I thought it might be best to go back to the room & catch a quick nap before heading to Hoop Dee Doo!
I'm almost finished with day 2. I have one more part to post tonight.

After our nap, my headache was gone & the rain had stopped. It was 6:00 p.m., so I thought we should get going, as our ressies were for the 7:15 show. It was a beautiful night, so using a fellow PP’s advice (thanks mavisdavis), we took the boat to Ft. Wilderness. While we were at MK the day before, I saw a sign that the boats went to HDD from there. So, I decided to get a bus to MK, then get on the boat headed to Ft. Wilderness. I think Peter thought that I knew what I was doing, but I could tell he was wondering if it was actually going to work. At the bus stop, there was a family of 8 waiting for the MK bus. They were headed to HDD as well. The MK bus soon pulled up & we all quickly boarded. It took a little longer than I had planned to finally get to MK. We literally all ran to the boat dock….watching a boat pull out as we ran. There were 2 lines….WL & FT.W campgrounds. I led my gang through the Ft.W line & the other family quickly filed in the WL line. One of the ladies looked at me before I could say anything and said “Are you sure that’s the line you should be in?” Peter looked at me like….are we in the right line???? I explained that HDD is at FT.W campground, not at WL. (again thanks PP!!!!). They soon moved over to our side. Peter looked at me with an approving look. The next boat was headed to the dock & we were relieved as it was now almost 7 p.m.!! We all jumped on board & enjoyed the wonderful ride! We passed the CR which looked beautiful at night.
I will def take the boat again!! It only took a few minutes to get there, and we were soon in line. I hadn’t gotten tickets, only made ADRs, so they sent me to the ticket window to get them. The CM took my name & said “We’ve been waiting for you!” Great!!! We went right in & were seated up in the balcony. When I made our ADRs, the only thing left for the 7:15 show were Cat. 3 seats, which turned out to be awesome seats. We got table #202, on the right side of the balcony, 2nd table to the front, directly over the stage. I think we had the best seats in the house. We are on the opposite side in this picture.
It was so crowded down on the floor seats.
I enjoyed having more of a private table. We all 4 loved, loved the food & especially the show!!!! Peter & I had gone years ago & thought it would be something fun for our family to do together. It was def a top highlight of our trip!!
This was the only meal picture that I got….and there wasn’t much left to get a picture of.
The dinner is served family style and includes a salad, corn bread, buckets of barbaque spare ribs and fried chicken, mashed potatoes, baked beans, and Strawberry Shortcake for dessert. Iced tea served in mason jars!
This guy was hilarious! He came up to our table to chat with us.
Our chairs swiveled around to watch the show.
There is so much audience participation
& the show is very entertaining. The cast did an awesome job! At the end of the show, they hand out washboards to play with your spoon. Peter & Nathan went to town on that washboard!!!
Total for dinner show: $211 (8 TS credits) Tax & gratuity included
After the show, there were buses waiting right outside to take everyone back to their resort. CBR & POP shared a bus, so it took a while to get back to the resort.We got to the room just after 10 p.m. and the boys heaed to the game room. Peter watched TV & I took a bubble bath & journaled. We all went to bed by midnight. Another full, but fun day!! Hopefully, I’ll get to open a park tomorrow.
Memories from Day 2:
Weather- low 70’s, cloudy, then rain mid-day until early evening. Then, clearing & just a little cooler that night.
Best thing-HDD
Worst thing-Rain
Most magical- Boat ride to Ft. Wilderness & HDD. I loved watching the boys laugh & have so much fun together!
1st time-
KS, FotLK, meeting Pocahontas, HDD (Logan), entire EE ride & HDD (Nathan) & boat ride to HDD (all 4 of us)
I really looked hard for Devine when I was there, but failed. Finally caught up on your trip report and it brings excitement for my next trip that is quite a bit away yet. I guess I have to live vicariously through fellow pp's.
We didn't spend as much time at AK as we could have, mainly due to the late start, the rain, & leaving early. We didn't end up getting back to AK anymore this trip either, so, I'll try harder next trip to find her!
BTW....you are soon heading back aren't you???? I am sooooo jealous!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Not finding her just gives us something to put on our "must do" list for our next trip there!!! Thanks for following along! I reading everyone else's TR, so I thought why not write my own! Writing my PTR (see link under my sig pic below) really helped pass the time until we left, plus it is a great way to countdown & keep a journal of all the planning as well! Yes, we are. I really need to start preparing, I've done nothing. Unfortunately, AK isn't even on the agenda this trip; so we won't be seeing Divine this trip either. It's a long weekend trip with just me and my ds(10). He doesn't even know yet! But a few days at WDW is better than no days!

Writing my PTR (see link under my sig pic below) really helped pass the time until we left, plus it is a great way to countdown & keep a journal of all the planning as well! We won't be going back until Jan/Feb 2011 (just DH & I)....but just knowing I can start planning another trip keeps me excited!!
