Wise Women, Good Looking Men and Way Cool Teens - Page 6 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

the grand gatherings international dinner was very tasty and something i am glad we tried. i agree with elaine...lots of fun, but sort of chaotic outside before they let you in.
we got to pose with our favorites!
dancing....
after the dinner and fireworks, we posed for a pic before trying spaceship earth.
like elaine said, test track was down most of the evening. boo on that one...
i know at some point yah-von and her family joined us for emh, but i don't seem to have taken any photos. i also did not take any photos of the dinner i guess. hmmmm....i know BS did and i think she will probably chime in sometime soon (hint hint)

At day for meeting new friends and eating alot. Up early and in the shower, I don't feel so bad today. I've had a great week and the weight loss has helped I'm sure. Last night the hip/knee are cranky (that leg is a tad shorter than the other) but it took longer this trip.
Anyway, its a fine morning and we are headed to WCC to meet up with Sheri, Brigette and family, Yvonne and family, Betty Sue and Liz. We've never eaten here but hear its a hoot! We walk out of POFQ a little later than I planned so we ask them to get us a cab. There was a cab there before I had time to sit down on a bench. Not a very chatty driver but then I guess its better he focuses on his driving. I couldn't see the speedometer but we had to be doing "bat out of Toledo" speed. In no time at all we were pulling up to the WL. For those who want to know about cab costs, it was $15.95 not including the tip.
Soon we were gathering aroung the big tree.
texting, texting.....Betty Sue tells us that Y has texted and she has overslept and won't be coming to breakfast. Rats, I have the goodie bags for her and Sheri. Sheri graciously takes the bag for Y and will give it to her later.
We're all here and B has checked us in, but what is a PP meet without photos?
We were seated and our sever is MT. I do believe that all fiesty women retire to Florida and work for Disney! She was a hoot and a half!
I think we all ordered the Mondo Food Trough. It was wonderful--all the bacon I wanted!
our collection of ketsup. dbf kept one to use.
MT and sheri as a totem pole!
It was fun and the food was good. MT was great!
After lunch we split up again. We took the boat from WL to MK and then a water taxi to the GF. I wanted a couple of Mad Hatter and Alice large tea cups and some Wonderland Tea. The plan is to go in Oct of this year to celebrate the fact that bff and I have been friends for 40 years! Wow! I've designed shirts with the March Hare and Mad Hatter for the occassion and plan to surprise her at 1900 Park Fare with a cake. I'm currently looking for a tea cup and tea pot charms to make special necklaces. Any way we got to the GF and found our items. The CM in the shop asked if we were in the upstairs shop earlier in the week. dbf had seen some folks taking tags off hats and throwing the tags on the shelf. the hats went on the son. he just mentioned the activity to the cm. she said they loss alot of merchandise that way. The short story is that the folks bolted before security could arrive.
We also got chocolate boxes at the Gingerbread House and then went to ride the monorail around. We got off at the MK and took the bus to POFQ. We grabbed a sandwich to split and went to take a short nap.
We caught the bus to MK. Never a wait longer than 5 minutes this whole trip. Then it was back to the boat for GF and Poly. In short order, we were at the Poly. A trip to Bou-Tiki got us the last of the charms I needed for the girl's bracelets. Sadly I can't seem to find any nice silver charms, just gold ones.
Then it was up to O'Hana. I've eaten at the Luau, Kona and Tangora Terrace at the Poly. Evidently, Tangoa Terrace has been gone for some time. However, never have we eaten at O'Hana. We're early and don't feel the need to mosey around so we hit the bar. dbf waits at the bar to order. Others are doing so and getting served, but not him. He too is blonde with blue eyes but he evidently lacks what the bartender considers very important--perky hooters. Dbf decided to sit and let someone come to take our order. We ordered a Planter's punch with a glowy cube. It looked so aweosme in red!
I only had a little since I was saving up for dessert. It was good.
the birthday girls.
ask em how they enjoyed our rendition of the happy birthday song. i love this place...you can be a horrible singer (such as myself) and be very appreciated! i think this is why courtney is laughing so hard....
liz and my dh....
elaine and brigett
i could have sworn i took more pics, but evidently i was too busy stuffing my face...i had completely forgotten about the totem pole...ha ha ha....this is such fun reading all the stuff you were experiencing....
Ok, sorry for the delay, back to the rest of this exciting day. Dinner at O'Hana, another first. All the chicken wings, sirloin, pork, turkey (that look like a pig nose) you want to eat. some veggies and the most awesome dessert in the world--pineapple bread pudding! The chef as usual came out to talk with Courtney as she has a shell fish allergy.
the food was wonderful!
and the best for last, the piece of turkey that looked like a pig nose laying on the plate. such a visual had to be photographed for posterity. so dbf posed.....
After dinner it was time to enjoy the last magic hours at the MK! so to the park with the group! It was time for some rides again! omg, how i''ve missed the rides!!!! dbf sat out because he was afraid the camera would get wet on splash mountain. Brigette and Matt promise that they can drag me out of the log if need be. (luckily only a hand up was necessary) i love splash mountain during the day but truly its awesome at night. I think someone got the photo. I'm the one with someone's hand obsuring my face, but really i was there. had the soggy bottom to prove it, just no photos of it!
dbf rejoined us and it was off to big thunder mountain again. another ride that is even more fun at night!! dbf was wearing christmas buttons that i made. tonight's was malificent creating a magical christmas tree. when someone asked where he got it because they wanted to get one, he took his off and gave it to them. a cm standing there followed him and presented him with 4 FP good for any ride in the park until dec 15th. way cool! more magic.
we headed to get a good spot for Spectro magic. somehow dbf has never seen it. we got a great spot and set up shop. again dbf wished he had the flash for the camera but the movie turned out nicedly and so do the photos.
