The Trip that Almost had No Memories! Nov. at WL! - Page 6 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

I made your picture bigger and I see that your little Kylie look like a strong will person and has a good head on her shoulder. I will have to how I can get over to WL just to see the area. I'm glad you had a good time at AK.
You can tell that by a picture? Oh, how right you are! At age 5, she's already informing me that I don't know anything. Gees, I thought I had at least till the teenage years before I had to deal with that!
Yes, do get to WL. It was incredible!!!!!!

Oh how I want to stay at WL. I am glad you had a wonderful time at AK, except for losing DH to the yeti!!! (and your beers) How brave your DD was to ride Dinosaur. My 8 yr old rides it, but hates it.
Can't wait to read more.

7:50 we got a call from Mickey to wake us up . We also heard from Granny and filled her in on all our adventures. We ate granola bars or instant oatmeal in the room (we never did feel we had the time to go to a different resort to eat breakfast) and headed out to Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
Knowing full well what I know about the Studios, the first thing we did was race to Toy Story Mania to secure Fast Passes for later. I think they ran out of the day’s allotment about 10:30 that morning . We then checked the Times Guide and went to see the first Beauty and the Beast show. This was wonderful, like a Broadway musical! I got a lot of good pictures as we had good seats and sung along like we belonged on stage with Chip the Tea Cup or Mrs. Potts.
After this we went down to get Fast Passes for Tower of Terror. From there I thought it would be a good idea to go to One Man’s Dream to look for a frosted blueberry (The Dream Team) as I have heard that they give out many dreams there. No such luck but we did enjoy this little tribute to Walt Disney. After that we headed to the Magic of Disney Animation (also looking for blueberries) with no luck .
We waited in line briefly to see the Bolt characters but Kylie decided she didn’t feel like waiting. By now our FP’s for Tower of Terror were ripe so we went there (before lunch). It was “spooky” in the words of Kylie but she didn’t chicken out. I didn’t end up liking this ride as much as I had thought I would. I always loved Dungeon Drop at Astroworld or other such rides that just plummet. But I guess the not knowing how far you would go down and then go back up on TOT just unnerved me . All the while I was wondering how Kylie was doing. She told me okay when I could ask but after it was over she said she didn’t want to do that again. Although later she did say that she did and is still saying that she wants to do it again. Such a brave little girl who has conquered all her fear towards rides!
Finally we decide that we are very hungry and can’t quite wait to eat lunch at 3:50 which is our ADR for the Fantasmic Dinner Package at Mama Melrose’s so we stopped at the ABC Commissary. Since we had plenty of counter service credits to use, I ordered the Asian salad, Terry got the Cuban sandwich with plantain chips and Kylie got chicken nuggets (again). I had heard mixed reviews about this place but I gotta say, we loved it….all of it! This is probably the best salad I have ever had . The Cuban sandwich was okay to good, plantain chips were great and Kylie pronounced her chicken nuggets the best ever as well. Terry tried a beer we’d never heard of calling Yeungling and he thought it was really good (he’s bought some since we’ve come home). It was all wonderful and I can’t wait to eat here again ! My mouth is watering just thinking about that salad! It worked out well that we ordered the different things so that we just split it all up and shared.

I think Hollywood studios is wonderful on how they set it up not to big but not to little. What was the theme to Mama Melrose like? I hope you guys went on Star Tours that my faverote ride. Last time I was there I ate at sifi dinning that was cool I haven't done a drive through theat since I was 11 or 12 years old before they took them out in the early 80's.

After this we went to see Muppet Vision 3-D. This was a lot of fun and we laughed a lot. I had scheduled a 1:30 ADR for the Sci-Fi drive-in restaurant mainly for the sole purpose of having desserts and checking out the place. We got in with no wait and thought the ambiance was really neat. Kylie got a free sundae since we were celebrating her birthday on this trip (I had noted it in all our ADRs) and I got a milkshake. We split a kids coke with a glow cube in it. We still use our cup from Sci-Fi at home with fond memories of this place! The problem was that we were still full from lunch.
We rushed through this to get back to ride Toy Story Mania and loved it! Unfortunately since we were in the FP line, we missed the talking Mr. Potato head but it was all very cool. Upon leaving TSM, we saw Quincy and June from the Little Einstein’s signing autographs with a very short line. Kylie, having grown up watching Little Einstein’s had to go get her picture made and her book signed.
By now, it was time to get to our ADR at 3:50 at Mama Melrose’s. We had only eaten about 3 hours ago and had ice cream in the middle of that. Hmmm…how would we ever eat again ? What normally would be a bad thing, but in this case, slow service was our saving grace. Terry ordered the planked salmon, I got a pizza which was okay and Kylie got soup and pasta. Terry’s was the best and I plan to get the salmon next time. Overall the food was really good and I think we ate all of it (ugh) .
We didn’t get out of Mama Melrose’s until around 5:30 and we needed to get to Fantasmic to line up (even with our seating tickets) in 15 minutes. We hurried back to Fantasmic and procured our seats in the side section. I would have liked to been closer but from what I have heard, I consider myself lucky to have gotten a seat at all. However we did sit there for about 30 minutes, just sitting, waiting for it to start. Kylie got real anxious here waiting. Someone was trying (mostly unsuccessfully) to lead the audience in the Wave but Kylie thought that was stupid and boring . We finally made it through the wait and it started.
I was a bit worried about her finding it scary and we talked about how dreams can be scary but you can take charge of them like Mickey does and gets rid of the bad guys. She handled it just fine. I thought it was really neat how they project the images on the water, the big water droplets and caught the whole pool of water on fire. It was a neat production, but hardly the highlight of my trip as some would claim. When that was over we decided to do one more thing and that was get in to see Voyage of the Little Mermaid.
This was a different kind of show in that they combined live actors with the cartoon images on the screen. In that dark theater our fatigue had caught up with us. We were done for the day despite the fact that it was extra magic hours that night. We never got to do Rock-n-Roller Coaster because when we went by there to get FP’s for later, they weren’t issuing any more till the extra magic hours. We’ll just have to save that for next time.
Once back at the WL we stopped by the pin trading table and traded a few pins and I bought a couple of WL pins. Done with our shopping, we decided it would be a good night to check out the pool at WL (since this was the warmest night yet). Kylie and I quickly decided that the heated pool wasn’t heated enough in this still chilly weather and hopped over to the hot tub. Terry had brought some beers out to drink and he wondered around checking out the courtyard, drinking, and taking pictures.
Coming up, our full day at MK, and our most magical day yet!
The weather today: cloudy, then clear and warmer
The best things: Terry-Fantasmic, Kylie- the hot tub at WL and Laura-Beauty and the Beast and the Asian salad
Worst thing: Not riding Rock-n-Roller Coaster and not getting to see more shows
The funniest thing: The fly swatter at Muppet Vision 3-D
Today we tried: Yuengling beer and the ABC Commissary
And the result was: Excellent! The Asian salad was outstanding!
The most magical moment was: Getting the last 3 seats (literally) for Voyage of a Little Mermaid and Sorcerer Mickey in Fantasmic

I brought a pen with mickey head on it it last only for three weeks after the last WDW trip. But the head and the pen's body became a decoration for my pen cafe mug that has the Mickey Mouse Club symbol all over it. Then at DL in October I got another pen that look it was better made like a business pen it has Mickey head symbols all over the body, but the top of won't stay on after a week of having it. So be careful on what you by at Disney. Is Toy Story like buzz light year thing?
Sounded like a great day at DHS.
I've talked my girls out of the balloons on all three trips. I asked them if they wanted the balloon that probably wouldn't make it home or something they could take home and have for a long time. That worked wonders.
More please.
