Driving Karen nuts in 10 rides or less **Updated 2/18** COMPLETE - Page 6 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Another great update...the party has definitely started. The FP Queen has arrived...glad you got to enjoy some "gold card" latte and pastries before heading off.
What a great group over at the AK...a double dose of EE and Yak Attacks, what a way to start off an afternoon.
Looking forward to hearing more...and Pluto thongs Eileen...look at you and your wild side

Eileen looks like a flipping model in all of my pictures - - her smile alone could melt ice! Now let's get to the walking - - she has picked up some speed since last I saw her! Dear heavens! She left me in the dust numerous times, but especially when she was trying to beat Sharon to the Osborne Lights. I think you're competitive edge has rubbed off on someone. I work out a lot and I was getting a stitch in my side trailing her at DHS . . . Heather was the only one who could even come close!
Jill
Even I was trailing behind a bit . . . I walk a lot, but New Orleans is completely flat . . . the "tallest" hill is man made and is a big 5ft above sea level! (Monkey Hill)
Much to Sharon’s disappointment, I needed a post Yak Attack rest room break – and was delighted to find that Larry and Lesley had the same walnut-sized bladder as me. We really bonded over that and I was so glad to have potty pals for the rest of the trip!
Any time! Actually, I believe that Eileen's comment was something like, "Larry's the perfect traveling companion--same size bladder as me--I'm kicking Sharon to the curb!" I am pretty sure it was all meant in jest.

I liked the touch screens, but felt they kept pushing me to order extra stuff, even though they eventually let me also remove stuff – like the tomato on my grilled cheese. Ick!
Now I do love me some tomato on my grilled cheese! Those screens were pretty pushy, weren't they? I wanted to slap mine a couple of times.

As an added bonus, the rain had totally stopped and the skies cleared – and stayed that way for the rest of the trip!
And I'm sure it had nothing at all to do with the person who had just landed in Orlando (even though Junebug used to tell me as a child that the sun didn't shine until I was born - - you're starting to see the root of some of my problems, aren't you? )

After a bit of laughing an noshing, someone yelped “She’s here!” I leapt out of my chair without being sure which direction Jill was coming from, but quickly located her and gave her a big ol’ hug. Yay!! The CLQ-3 was at least a duo for the day.
Now that was the moment that I had been waiting for all day!
Quote:
We sent Jill inside to order her meal and no one was surprised to see her come out with a bottle of chardonnay (least of all her hubby Thom, who commented immediately on the purchase of “happy juice” on the blog.)
Well, I have to keep up my reputation as ELC president. Thom would have been disappointed (and worried) if I had not immediately purchased a little happy juice. Hey, I bypassed the 9 a.m. Bloody Mary!

Jill sat next to Larry and it was a Mutual Adoration Society meeting happening right before our eyes. Despite the scowling in the pic, they were absolutely smitten with each other and enjoying themselves immensely.
Larry and I need to request a retake on that picture.
Quote:
Especially as I was sitting down at the time. To make matters worse, I apparently stick my tongue out in concentration whenever I do this, making for much mock-worthy moments as I’d sit there “hand up, tongue out” trying to upload something to the blog.
I was just going through Mary Devall & Maddie's Santa pics and found several that reminded me of you. Maddie's tongue is sticking out in every picture where she is "working" in the workshop. I can't wait to see her trying to get cell phone reception one day.
Quote:
Not to be outdone, Larry had to show us all his new iPhone, including some of the fun apps he’d downloaded – like this “zippo lighter” that he'd play with by flipping open the cap and then rolling the rolly-thingy to make the flame leap up. It was totally cool and very geekified. My DH would’ve been very impressed.
Larry was a whiz with the iPhone - - I loved the lighter and the light saber. One day I hope to see him and Karen in a throw down.

We were joined in line by Sara (Belle*) and we got to spend some quality time with her. (Christine told her about a slight hiccup with our travel arrangements through MEI and Sara was a star in my book when she later made sure everything was taken care of for us and we got to do a special event for guests on the Mousefest booking at the Beach Club. I got a happy text from her later that night that we were all confirmed. Yay, Sara!
Sara made a wonderful trip all the more better! Thanks so much Sara! It was such a pleasure to finally meet you too!

Soon thereafter, the 2-person chatfest became a 3-person chatfest and we talked for hours. Even though I was exhausted and had been up for about 20 hours, we didn’t crawl into our respective beds until almost midnight.
That was such a fun first evening - - even though our only ride was the bus back to SSR!
I was actually surprised I didn't see Jill following closely behind the "tray of goodness"! I loved the blog Eileen and I'm really glad to see you decided to do a trip report after all to fill in all the naughty details of the CLQ -1.
I was stuck in line at Y&Y with Lesley - - otherwise, I would have been right behind her!

The CM who took delight in my excitement over the Magic Coffee Machine wished us well and Jill told her we'd be back for the Magic Wine Bottles later!
And did we let her down? No way!
Quote:
Suddenly, I sensed a person standing very close to me. I looked over – and DOWN – and realized that it was a CM in a white shirt. My first thought?
SCORE – A DREAM TEAM MEMBER!!
F.I.N.A.L.L.Y.
Then I looked a little further down and realized she had a broom and a dustpan.
Darn….
A little something I should have revealed about myself - - I am an official the Dream Team deterrent. I think my picture is up in the Dream Team locker room and they’ve been instructed to avoid, or anyone that I’m with, at all cost.
Quote:
The whole group busted out laughing and Deb did her best to hide her shock and laughter. She just kept talking about that and, after a minute, she nudged me and said under her breath, “didja notice how I glossed right over that one?”
You know . . . at first, I thought she either didn’t here you or thought you were talking about your Pluto “sandals” but she was just a real cool customer.
Quote:
The yeti wasn’t working, but Sharon’s right – he’s really creepy when he’s not working.
I was totally waiting for Sharon to scream out “Where is he? Where is he? AAAHHHHHH”
He kept looking at me like I was a nutter, but my Disney Visa Rewards card worked and I walked away with a tray of yummy delicious Yak Attacks balanced in front of me like a veritable “St. Nepal-y Girl.”
One of my favorite lines of the trip. And I am loving the picture!
Quote:
I can’t tell you the number of guys who walked past me, looked at my tray of goodness and commented that they wanted to tour with me.
Um . . . that wasn’t just because of your tray of Yak Attacks, Eileen.
Quote:
Somehow, in the confusion, Jill got a double order of egg rolls! Lesley!
I’m telling ya - - she’s good.
Quote:
Much to Sharon’s disappointment, I needed a post Yak Attack rest room break – and was delighted to find that Larry and Lesley had the same walnut-sized bladder as me. We really bonded over that and I was so glad to have potty pals for the rest of the trip!
You three did have some sort of kizmit bathroom thing going on.
Quote:
We headed into the FastPass line for EE and did another spin through the mountain. The final brake was a bit harsh and Jill was commenting that her egg rolls tasted better the second time around.
