As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

I have to say I laughed my way through the article. He's spot on in a lot of cases, though really it's kind of obvious to me that he went in with a negative view. Does that stop me from going? Nope! I love Disney and have a great time there. DD is 2 right now and I love taking her. She's already been twice and we have a third trip in the works for over her 3rd bday. It's a fantastic place for us.
I have friends that only vacation in Disney, and refuse to take their family anywhere else. That is fine for them but would not work for my family, because I believe in expanding horizons. So I absolutely agree with the author that at some point, you need to go to Canada instead of Canada in the World Showcase. But I'll always come back to Disney as often as I can afford, because it's a fun place to be a kid at any age!
I find magic in the stage shows, and I don't mind the manufactured aspects of it all. It's still fun for me. I love the food, the atmosphere and the rides. At least the author ended the trip the right way, with Small World!

I just don't understand how anyone cannot like/love WDW!! I can't tell you how many times I have heard...your going AGAIN...didn't you just go last year? My response is yes and if I could swing it I would go more than once a year. WDW is my Happy Place....when I need an escape from the real world and I have to close my eyes to get there....I picture WDW. If I could live on Main Street....I would!!! If I could afford Celebration...I would live there too!!! I don't care if it is stepfordish. When I FINALLY get to go to WDW....all is right with the world! Heather
I've vacationed in other countries. I love museums, art galleries, and sights with historical significance. But at all these places I am a tourist or a visitor...at Disney I feel like I am just coming home to my happy place. Too bad the author just doesn't get this...it is rather sad to go into something being so negative. I think he was looking for the worst instead of seeing the wonderful.
By the early evening, it's getting dark, and both kids and adults are getting crankier. A lot of strollers get wheeled into corners as moms whisper-shout, "Settle down, Hunter" and "You stop that right now, Madison." I'm also noticing a lot more people buying the $8.50 margaritas available next to the Mexico pavilion.
I take this as my cue and head back to the parking lot. Tomorrow's another day—and another theme park.
.... didn't stay for IllumiNations? Didn't watch the Parade? Yeesh, someone shoudl have done their homework better ...

In 1964, an animatronic Abe Lincoln wowed the crowds at the New York World's Fair. People were convinced he was a live actor. Impressive achievement. Four decades later, though, who's impressed when a mannequin blinks and raises its eyebrows?
Obviously, didn't bother with the show at the Tiki Lounge ...
He seems to think that DVC does nothing but suck us into Disney vacations for years and years to come. I wonder what he would say if he knew that we are travelling to the UK using DVC?

... you can DO that? O_o I guess I should have known, but still ... !

Wow! I finally read this article. And, all I can say is that I think that he wouldn't have admitted if he had a good time at Disney even if he did. But, he seems to be quite cynical...picking on American tourists in general, overweight people walking in the world and "High School Musical brats"...real nice guy! But, I guess he wanted us to know that he is a bit above us Disney Lovers because he and his sister share a "refined sense of humor". Clearly our humor and our love for Disney is beneath him. Well...I am fine with that!! I LOVE Disney and the Mouse and I'll be taking my children there again and again.
Darn you, now I have to win the lottery so I can buy into the DVC myself ...! (Somethign I'd love to do, if the $20K-ish were to drop into my lap, heh!)
I finally decided to read his article after seeing this thread on here for weeks. I think this guys particular writing style is to be critical and pessimistic. I'll bet that if we read other articles by him on other topics, they would have the same tone! Any like y'all said, he went there with a negative attitude and refused to allow himself to change it.
You have to keep in mind this is someone who was paid to visit WDW and right this article. It only takes one bitter person to ruin a good day. As with all articles that are on MSN I ignore them.

I thought the article was pretty funny and entirely correct on some points. But then, I am not unaccustomed to accusations that I am a cynical crank. However, I still have an awesome time at WDW and think it's a great place for a vacation! So go figure. Thanks for posting it though, very entertaining.
I have to say that I somewhat enjoyed his articles. I love sarcasm so that part entertained me. He DID seem to set out with the goal of mocking those of us who love WDW. I think that he maybe had to try too hard to be cool. Don't worry Seth, we won't think you aren't cool if you like Disney World. You CAN be cool and still enjoy princesses and Mickey. Really. Try to relax.....it really doesn't hurt a bit! Here, have a Mickey Bar and chill. Watch some fireworks! We won't tell if you actually enjoy yourself. Your friends will never know......................
