As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

Moving on with the current of the years.

It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

I know what you mean about staying longer. This year when we were at WDW & book with the bounce back program we explored other hotels, we really loved the POLY, but could stay at the CBR for 4 more days & $800 dollars less. It was a no brainer for us. We figure we would save it for when we only wanted to go 4 or 5 days. Not that will ever happend but maybe someday we can afford to stay at the POLY.

Today we decided to take it easy this morning. We went down to do some laundry. We decided we would try out the main pool. This was our 3rd time to Disney & the first time we have went swimming at the hotel. So my mom, Shayne, & I went swimming. My dad chills out at the tables by the bar. We didn't stay in there very long but it was refreshing & nice. After that we went & got some lunch at OPR we must have always hit at the right time b/c we didn't wait very long the whole time we were there. We sat outside & ate then decided to go back to the room. Tonight, was the MNSSHP & so we rested a little bit before we got ready. We had ADR at WCC & wanted to explore the hotel a little bit. So we looked around some then decided that we would see if we could check in early for dinner. They gave us a pager & within 5mins we were ready to go. Our waitress was great. My dad, mom, & I got the skillet. Shayne got hot dog or a hamburger I can't remember. He asked for some ketchup & you all know what happen. Then she asked if I needed more Ice Tea I said just a little. So you know what I got was a tiny glass of Ice Tea. My aunt Wanda called while we were waiting for our meal. The waitress came back & told my mom that she not suppose to talk on the phone at the table. She proceeded to take the phone off my mom & talk to my aunt. My aunt is a Disney freak just like us. Last year she, my other aunt, & grandma went at the same time that we went. She was driving home from work when she called us. The waitress asked her name & why she wasn't there. Which my aunt replied to her why she couldn't be there. The waitress (which I can't recall her name**note to self take better notes next year) turn to the entire restaurant & said "excuse me everyone I have Aunt Wanda on the phone & she couldn't make the trip so on the count of 3 everyone say HI Aunt Wanda" Everyone in the restaurant yelled Hi Aunt Wanda. She told her bye & handed the phone back. My mom got on the phone & my aunt was laughing so hard that she was crying. She said that was the best ending to for the day. We finished our meal & went to the restroom to change for MNSSHP we did not want to get anything on our shirts at dinner. We walked down to the geyser which had 5 mins until erupt time & waited we did spot a hidden Mickey in the rocks. We got some pictures of the geyser & headed toward the boat for MNSSHP. We rented a locker once we got in to MK so that we didn't have to lug around the stuff we bought at WL. We headed inside & went to get seats for the parade (great seats again on train station platform towards the middle). My dad needed to go get new ears (we had gone on the Mickey Magically Milestone Tour) & they gave us ears except for my dad were youths. He went to get a new pair of ears took them to tour check-in so that he could explain what had happen & they wrote on his new ones for him. My brother was little cranky tonight here to find out his was back was sore from the one & only ride we rode at AK you guessed it PRIMEVEL WHIRL. We watched the parade & decided we wanted to trick or treat. Last year we sat & watch the fireworks we decided to skip it this year. We headed towards Adventureland & were thirsty so we decided to get something to drink. My mom & dad got sodas, Shayne got a rootbeer float, & I had my first Dole Whips float. We sat there while my parent exercise their lungs & we quenched our thirst. We headed through Adventureland as for waits, it said 10 mins but the truth of it was you walked through the queue area & were pretty much on the ride. We rode SM, BTM, & trick or treat along the way hitting all the candy spots along the way except for one. On to HM which we got inside & there was some kind of problem we stood in line for 20 mins were the doom buggies are. Finally, maintenance came & we are ready to go within a couple of mins. Kind of makes you a little leery about getting on & every time that we came to a stop. We walked through Fantasyland on our way to Tea Cups; my dad says every year he is not going to ride them yet every year we get him on there. Off to Toontown so we can hit the candy trail to Tomorrowland. My parent went & had an exercise break while we rode the TTA which we call People Mover. After we were done it was about time to go. We were exhausted & had hustle through the park to the bus.
