Oh the Places We Go, The People We See Updated 11/03/2013 - Page 6 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

I am going to post a few off topic things here. yes, I know I am slacking, but I think a lot of us have been lately, so I don't feel quite so bad.
I am going to post a few pictures of some things that have gone on this month. It's been a busy one. I decided today I need to get those pictures edited before it turns into spring and I still have holiday pictures on my computer. :lmao:
This was Claire's Santa Meet at the Breakfast with Santa in early Dec.
And these are from her Christmas program at school.
Her birthday was Dec. 10, but we celebrated it on Dec. 9th with family.

On Dec. 20th, My sister (Gail, who went on the cruise with me) and I took our girls to see Disney on Ice, 100 Years of Magic.
We really enjoyed it. It was nice to get another dose of Disney.
On our way. Abby is not so pleasant. My sister got in a car accident about a week before and her van is in for repairs. This is the rental car, which Abby HATES! It does not have a DVD player and she is hilarious about this. She constantly says how she doesn't like this car and it makes her sick. We ask her why she is sick and she just shouts "This car! This car makes me sick!" I guess she is a bit spoiled.
We arrived and Claire wanted popcorn. Holy cow thats pricey. It was $12 for the bucket ...BUT free refills, so that made it better. And we did refill it later and all the girls got to have some. Alexis and Abby went with a snowcone in a special cup.
We were in about the 5th row off the ice, so we had really good seats.
I took a TON of pictures. many came out a complete blurry blobs. I had my point and shoot camera and I am so not used to trying to get that to work right in dark, moving conditions, so these are the best i got.
The Alladin segment was fantastic. They did some really neat jumps and we had toe tapping music.
Mickey and Minnie were so darn cute.
In the Beauty and the best segment They had beast and then he transformed into a prince. I have to say for about the first 5 minutes I swore it was a girl dressed as a guy. But he was so much taller and muscular that it had to be a guy...just very girly looking. And Belle must truely be in love with him, because her facial expressions were so real. She just longingly looked at him as they skated around. It was almost comical.
And then many more Prince and Princesses came out.
They had a "small World" Segment which was fantastic! Most of my pictures were just blobs though.
And then it was time for an intermission. Gail took the girls to the bathroom and Abby refused to go. I guess she thought she might miss something if she left. So she came and sat next to me, and munched on some popcorn.
When the rest came back, I decided to see about getting a program as a little remembrance. I knew it would be a Disney price, but holy cow! $20!!!! i said, well let me see it and looked through and it was nice, but the guy then said you also got a "rose' (plastic, but Claire was eyeing it) and a little stuffed Squirt, so that made the price more bearable. i got it and Gail bought one for the girls to share.
I browsed through the program and the lady next to me was reading it. LOL! I took my time going through it so she could see it too.
Soon the 2nd half started.
The Incredibles were so funny, especially the Dad.
The Lion King part was fun, but I found it kind of strange that when it started, tons of people started screaming and cheering. I guess I missed something there?
All too soon it was time for the finale.
After the show we made the slow walk up the stairs. I got seperated from the rest of them and met them at the top. By the time I got ther Abby was in meltdown mode. I guess she was mad that Gail wouldn't let her run freely up the steps on her own through all the people. So Gail was holding her and she was flopping all over. We headed to the bathroom and she was crying and telling Gail how she is such a mean Mom. LOL. yeah, she just went to Disney on ice and a little over a month ago was on a Disney cruise and Disney World. Real mean Mom.
Then we made the mistake and Claire bought a snowcone in a cup with the last of her spending money. UGH. Abby was freaking. Now she had one already, but she wanted a new one. She picked up her own cup and whipped it. Then I asked her if she wanted the popcorn bucket and she did, and looked right at me and dropped it. She was in rare form.
We finally made it out to the car and she calmed down a bit. Though then we heard how sick she was in the car.
Gail wouldn't let her eat anything else because she had been filled up with junk. Gail was afraid she would throw up in the car. First think she asked was "BopBop (thats what my nieces call me), You got any snacks in your purse?" LOL. And I didn't, so I honestly could tell her no.
it was suppose to snow a lot that night, and driving home was a bit snowy, but not near as bad as i thought and it did not stick to the ground. (and nothing on the ground the next morning).
We were tired when we got home and Claire had her last day of school the next day, but it was a lot of fun.

During the day we usually exchange gifts between each other.
Skip came in with a McDonalds bag with chicken nuggets and Claire grabbed it and ran to the table. Inside the bag was another bag with 2 presents. She threw that bag on the table and dug into the nuggets. LOL.
Skip then told us one gift was for her and one for me. I was shocked, he doesn't go buy gifts too often.
Claire opened hers and it was a necklace with a snowhite charm on it.
I opened mine and it was a necklace with a Pluto charm on it. I really liked this gift, mostly because Skip actually thought about something that I would like. He's fianlly listening to all my Disney talk!!!!
We gave him our gifts.
Claire is giving me heck in this picture. I think because we got Skip a box of candy and she wanted some? LOL
We got Claire an American Girl doll. She was so excited about this.
On Christmas Eve we go out to eat with my family. We used to go to the same place every year, a fancy steak place, but it closed now, so the last few years we have tried a few different options. This year we went to a Japanese place. I have never been here, but Claire came with my family while I was on the cruise in Sept and loves it.
We had a great time, great food and I think it was a hit for everyone.
The highlight of course is when the chef throughs food into your mouth.

Love the pics from Disney on ice. Christmas looked fun! We have a Japanese restaurant we go to and love. Cool Mickey Mouse shaped rice! I can't believe how much Claire has grown up!
