Solo-on-a-Scooter takes the A-Train. LIVE TR, 8/29 - 9/11/2015 - Page 6 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

I'm glad you've got Trattoria al Forno as one of your two ADRs. Luke and I both loved it, and hope to dine here again next May. I like the calmness of your plans.
Arnaud and I took the train from Paris to Cannes once and that was a ride I'll never forget! Just a seat as it was only 5hrs, but I would love to take a trip with a little sleeper car!
So happy you got some ADR's, they sound great. I'm so sure if you are up to it, grabbing a bar seat or a table for one wouldn't be so hard during that time you are there. That's a pretty slow time, right? I hope the crowds are low for you, and also the heat. How are you dealing with that these days? Do you scoot over to DHS? That seems like a long ride.......a pretty one though.
I know MK isn't on your list....but a part of me really is hoping you might have a little visit over there

I like the two ADRs I have-- FF and Trattoria. It would be crazy to stay 10 nights at BW and not do both of these!

I've always had good luck sitting at the bar at FF without an ADR, and that's a restaurant I can get to even in the rain, so I should be okay. I think the crowds will be manageable, but, as you say, the heat is another story. I know I'll be back at the hotel resting every afternoon, so I hope I'll miss the worst of the heat and humidity. And I'll be in the a/c at Rafiki's, so that'll be fine! I sometimes scoot to DHS, but usually take the boat there and scoot back if it isn't too hot. I love scooting along the canal, but the sun beats down on that side of the lake! I'm also conscious of saving scooter battery power. We'll see about MK....

That sounds like the perfect way to start your trip - you'll be safe, and rested, and it won't ruin the rest of your magical time. I'm so glad you are able to have this break in your routine, and thanks for sharing it with us.
This isn't really part of the PTR, but it has me even more excited about my trip. I just saw Dr Don Neiffer on the Today Show. He was one of my favorite vets at Disney and he's now Chief Veterinarian at the National Zoo. He was announcing the birth of the twin pandas last night. Very exciting to see him and the new babies!
Oh wow - that is such wonderful news! Much as I love my cows and donkeys, pandas are probably my third favourite animals and baby pandas are just the cutest! One day I will make it to China and the Chengdu panda nursery.... I hope...
Isn't the news exciting?! We were excited to hear about the first baby, but then several hours later when there was a twin? Cant wait to see them, but that will be some time still.
The panda births are huge news in this area right now. We're all so very excited! I can't wait to get back over to the zoo to see them, but it will be awhile before that happens.

It's a huge deal for the National Zoo, that's for sure. Once the babies are out on display attendance will be booming!

Yes, it's early days yet. They seem very healthy, but it'll definitely be a while before they're out on display. The webcams will be working, though. Newborn pandas are not exactly cute and cuddly!

It'll be cute to see them playing with Bao Bao.

Dr Don was always so much fun to watch at the vet window. If he hadn't been a vet he could have succeeded as a stand-up comedian!
So sorry to hear that your medical condition has become more advanced!
On the other hand you have a great attitude and outlook on life! You always seem so positive and bring out the best in many of here on the board!
I'm very happy for you that you are taking this trip and should be some adventure as you'll see so much on your trip from Boston to Orlando! Glad you have a roomette, which will be perfect for the trip!
You went about it the right way for the ADRs to make it that much easier and convenient for you! Love your plans for the AK as that seems like a great way to spend the mornings!
Always find it funny here, when someone is perplexed by an animal question and you always chime in for clarification!
Looking forward to more of the plans and can't wait for the live TR to begin!

I think your plans sound great! I really enjoyed the few times we've stayed at BWV and the time we've spent there. Dare I say, I think I liked it better than BCV. Shocking, I know. I'm very torn between trying BWV or Poly next trip.

Thank you for your kind words, Dave. I can't wait for the live TR either!

Part of the reason I love BWV so much is that it's "home". I've stayed there so many times that's what WDW means to me! If BCV had existed when I bought in, I might have chosen differently, but I'm very glad I ended up at BW.
