Please Help = too big for the rides ??? - Page 6 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). I too am Pooh sized; size 22 and pear shaped. My friend Kelly is also pooh-sized, although she's more evenly distributed. Will we have trouble fitting together in any rides? I've done them all before by myself or w/ someone smaller, but I've never done a ride w/ someone equally pooh sized as me. I know I felt uncomfortable myself the last time I rode Peter Pan; felt like I was going to fall out head first, for some reason. I'm also concerned about Splash. Kelly mentioned the teacups as one she wants to try, but I've never done them, so I don't know if we'll have a problem together. Neither one of us is big (pardon the pun!) on thrill rides, so I'm not concerned about any of those. I'm more concerned about rides where you have to ride next to each other, like Splash, Buzz, HM. Pooh, Kali (isn't there one lap belt per 2 people?). Does anyone have experience riding as a pooh sized twosome?

I know someone who is around 6'6" and wears a 4X (I believe he weighs around 400 lbs, maybe a little more). I've been really worried that he may not fit on some rides such as EE, Space Mountain, ect. He's so excited about going to WDW and taking his family for the first time.
The open mouse passporter has area rating rides for pooh sized people I believe. Also for person asking about 2 pooh sized in same car. My DH is a 42 waist and I'm around a size 20/22 and we both fit togather for most part. I recall doing teacups with us plus 6yo Niece in 1 cup. I feel that way abot PPF to I think it's more design of ship than anything.
I am also Pooh-Sized, a size 22 here. First off, don't be embarassed about your weight! Everyone deserves pixie dust! The great thing about being Pooh-Sized is that we can get more on us so we can take more home!
We've never really had any problems with the rides. Even Dumbo and the Aladdin ride worked fine. It was a tight fit, as DH and I are the same size, but it worked.
I did have a small problem getting on the carousel, but that wasn't weight related, that was a lumbar spine damage issue. It's the same reason I can't ride roller coasters.
Mission Space: I of course rode the no-spin version. I fit in there just fine. It was a tad snug, but I could breathe and all.
I do wish Disney would go to the electronic people counters in places like HM. I have to turn sideways to make it in. Laugh Floor has the electronic one and I don't have to contort to get through it.

I'm Pooh-sized and tall which makes it twice as hard. On my first return trip I was afraid to even step onto an attraction because of my size. I was trying to avoid doing anything until I took the plundge and decided to have fun. I even got into the pool down there because I knew that my friends were Pooh-sized and didn't care.
I look at it like this.....I'm almost 6 ft tall and Pooh-sized. I have been on every ride and have been back so many times it is hard to count. WDW does a great job of making us larger people fit in.
Thanks so much for asking this question! My DH and I are both "Pooh sized" and have concerns about this.
On a related note -- how do you Pooh-sized parents deal with rides where you need to ride with your skinny minnie kids? We are going to WDW in May with our four-year-old daughter -- obviously, she's not going to be able to ride in cars by herself! I don't want to have to tell her that we can't go on some rides (Dumbo, for example) because Mommy and Daddy are too, well, let's say plump. But I want her to be safe...any thoughts?
How about rides that have dividers for people to sit between (Soarin', Tower of Terror,etc). I am Pooh sized with larger hips and belly! I've seen the photos on allears and I can't tell how much room there is for hips!!!

You can't get me near Tower of Terror but I'm happy to report that Kelly and I had no problems fitting into ANY of the rides, including Soarin', even when we sat in the middle. HM, Pooh, Splash, Buzz, Peter Pan, Nemo's clamshell, all were no problem. IASW's seats are VERY low in the front of the boat, but other than that, no problem fitting into any ride or theater seat, despite our pooh size x 2.
Oddly enough, I would say the ride I felt the least comfortable in was the WDW buses when we sat next to each other. If the seats were facing sideways, there was usually a bar or arm rest that cut into my hips/legs. If we shared a double seat that faced front, usually one of us would "overhang" the seat.

ok, this CAN be a SERIOUS problem!!
my best friend in the WORLD is very skinny, as is her sister...im *pooh sized* (i prefer to say fat, but we will use the Passporter term) and when we rode Big Thunder Mountain together (one time each) they almost fell out, literally, so they had to hold on to me for dear life...they both slid and bounced around and forward ALOT...and im not super pooh sized really...like size 18-20 (maybe a 22 back then, i am on brain pills that made me lose weight)
they are both taller than i am (5.2 for me 5.5 and 5.6 for them) but one is a size 5-6 i think and the other is a 0...
you will need to hold her (i had to hold them at the waist on one side while they held me) to keep her from flying out

I held my kids on anything that was jarring or fast-moving like Goofy's Barnstormer, though they were still too young/small to ride anything very dramatic.
My 6'6" 300+lb DH says they only ride he really remembers as being difficult with our kids was the Grand Prix racers. Low to the ground, not much room for legs, tight fit.
Dumbo/Aladdin's Carpets were completely fine - we each rode with a son and they were safe and THRILLED to death.
I have to say that I honestly NEVER thought about my big butt the entire vacation. There was room for everyone. My DH and I fit together on all rides. Some rides with one of our boys in between us. This next trip in 2 weeks we'll have my pooh-sized parents with us. We've all gone on Soarin' - and LOVED it. Both of my parents have had spinal surgery for ruptured discs. They follow the rules where people with back problem signs are posted.
Try your best to let your fears and insecurities go. There are so many of us Pooh People out there and we all deserve the vacation of our dreams. Disney has made it so very easy to make the dream a reality. Have fun and enjoy the rides!
We just got back from our first WDW trip and had a blast! I fit on everything I tried with one exception...... Soarin'. My hips were just too big. It was a little bit embarrassing, but just because my husband wanted me to fit so badly that he kept trying to hook the belt and I kept saying it wasn't working. We laugh at it now! The cast member at the ride vehicle was very discreet. I even rode Tower of Terror. That was the most awesome ride I have ever been on! I can't wait for our next trip to WDW!
Hi guys. This is kind of embarassing but we are taking our first trip to Disney with our 2 kids in February and I have been kind of nervous. I am a big girl a size 26 and really want to enjoy the park with the kids. Will I be able to fit on anything. I carry most of my weight on my stomach, hips and boobs.
I have to say that I was really resigned to the fact that my future WDW trips would merely be as a "spectator" due to weight gain. I LOVE the fact that you guys have given me the reassurance to "get in the game"! I am not at all worried about "fitting in" after reading this thread! THANX 2 ALL!!!
I am Pooh sized and tall. Double strike against me....at other parks I have had problems. I have not had any issues at Disney.
The CM's are really great with the Pooh sized person. If you have any questions just ask.

I actually posted this question as a new thread before I found this subject. Guess I should've searched first . My main concern though is for the water park slides at typhoon lagoon. Are they a problem for us "pooh-sized" people? Especially the "coaster" ride.
I saw a person ask earlier about the two person speedboats that you can rent. I'm pretty sure I read on disneyworld.com that they have a 250lb limit.
