As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!
Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

Replying from work so must be quick, Naughty Karen . I'm sorry to lead you astray Ladies and Gents, you can't see the hidden mickey in this photo, this is taken from Discoveryland and you can only see the hidden mickey from Fantasyland, we did take pictures but the hidden mickey came out so small, you can't really see it . Re: Ooh la la, our trip to Disneyland Paris updated day 4
We decided to have a bit of a lie in this morning as we were both so tired. Allan went downstairs at about 8.00am to get a tray full of breakfast and we ate it in bed as we watched some TV and relaxed. We didn't start getting showered until about 11.00am so we had a very lazy morning. When we left the hotel we headed straight to the Walt Disney Studios as we hadn't spent much time there yet. We got to the studios just in time to catch the tail end of the parade, after it had finished we headed to the RnRc.
"Yes Sir!"
We actually went on this 3 times in a row with no queue at all, it was great! I was feeling a little bit dizzy after three times on the trot but Allan seemed pretty keen to go on again, I suggested we stop for a spot of lunch and a drink as I was feeling really thirsty and Allan agreed. So we didn't manage to beat my sister Laura's six times on the trot of the RnRc, but then when she visited the studios park it had even opened to the general public. We went to the Backlot Express resturant and ordered a salad and a kid's Mickey pizza to share, we also ordered two coffees as we were flagging a bit and a Sprite.
A soon to be hidden Mickey
I forgot to get a spoon to stir our coffees so allan got a lovely picture of me stirring our coffee with a fork!!!!
Improvising.
After we had finished our lunch, which was very tasty, we decided to take a few photos. We took a picture of outside of the RnRc so you can see how differently the theming is between this one and the one at MGM. To put it bluntly, the theming for this attraction in Paris is virtually non exsistant it is a real disappointment from the outside. Inside the ride is actually slightly better than in WDW but outside is a complete let down in my humble opinion.
Rock and Roll, Paris style.
We took some pictures of the cars outside of the Stunt show, this is a brilliant show and I think will be a great addition when it opens in MGM. We walked into Studio 1 and I did a bit of shopping, I bought a Mickey cup for our nephew Jamie.
We asked a CM to take our picture outside of the Partners statue, which I think would be much better placed in the Disneyland Park outside of the castle as it looks a bit out of place in the Studios. We also think that not having the Minnie and Roy statue takes some of the meaning away.
By Walt & Mickey.
We then headed to the Courtyard outside of Studio 1 and sat in the sun for a bit, it was very warm and pleasant sitting by the fountains there. We snapped a few photos before we headed back over to Disneyland Park.
Water buckets and Water Towers.
Karen meets the cleaners.
Gates to the studios.
It is a five minute walk from the Studios, to The Disneyland Park we walked under the Disneyland hotel and we were in Main Street again in no time.
The Disney Hotel.
It was about 5.00pm and we decided to go and sit down and have a drink to plan the rest of the day. We both ordered a small beer and sat in the sun.
Cheer's!
After our break we headed off to ride Space Mountain, I took off my earrings again and we really enjoyed our ride. Next stop Fantasyland for one of my favourite attractions, Alice's Curious Labyrinth, I really really love this it is so well themed, it is a maze full of characters from Alice in Wonderland and you had to find your way to the castle belonging to the Queen of Hearts in the centre of the maze. All the way round music from the film is played through speakers and it is so jolly and uplifting, Allan and I practically skipped around the whole maze it was so much fun, he kept running ahead of me and then jumping out from behind hedges and almost scaring the life out of me!
Karen stands guard.
We eventually found our way to the middle and climbed the steps of the castle, there is a beautiful view of the castle and Fantasyland and we just enjoyed the view for about five minutes.
Some view eh?
We were starting to feel hungry again and decided to look for something to eat. We headed towards the Blue Lagoon resturant as we had seen it on our tour and really liked the look of it. From the tables in the restaurant you can see the POTC boats go past. We headed to the podium but the CM told us that the Park was closing in half an hour so they were not permitting anymore guests in the resturant. We hadn't realised the time at all, we decided to have one more ride before the Park closed and picked POTC as it was so nearby. It was a walk on, an as ever we enjoyed the ride. We came out and headed out of the Park to try and get something to eat in Disney Village. The Village was packed as, like us, everyone was coming out of Disneyland Park to try and get something to eat, we thought maybe we would eat at The Rainforest Cafe but the queue was absolutely huge and we didn't want to queue that long for food from The Rainforest Cafe, the queue for Cafe Mickey was also huge so we decided to head towards the hotels.
We walked towards Hotel New York to enquire what the wait time would be for the resturants there. We went to the podium at the Parkside Diner and were told by the CM that the wait would be at least an hour. We made a reservation for a quarter to ten and went back to our hotel to change and rest for a while. I was a little bit miffed with Allan as I had told him earlier that I thought we should have made a reservation as it was a Saturday night and I expected all the resturants to be busy but when I had asked him earlier in the day he had told me that he had just eaten breakfast and didn't even want to think about where he would eat dinner raghhhhh!!!
We changed and walked back to the New York which was just five minute walk from our hotel. The booking system worked well , we were seated after about five minutes and I must say they were very busy in there. Our poor waitress was rushed off her feet, but inspite of her efforts the service was very slow, she really tried her best but there were just too many guests for her to serve. We ordered our starters and waited about 25 minutes for them, I had Clam Chowder and Allan had a Salad, the food was delicious , we finished our starters and were waiting for about half an hour I mentioned to Allan that I was feeling pretty full and very tired and didn't really want my main course now. He said he would tell the waitress when she next came our way. When she came over she had bought our main courses!!! I had a Cobb salad and I think Allan had a burger. We didn't eat much of our main courses as we were both very tired and definitely didn't want any dessert. Allan sneeked a picture of me on his mobile phone, I look like I barely have my eyes open. We paid the bill and headed back to the Sequioa Lodge, I can honestly say we both fell asleep as soon as our head touched the pillows.

Re: Ooh la la, our trip to Disneyland Paris updated day 3 part 2
Thanks for updating this, Karen. It was a great installment. You're right, the outside of RnRc does not look very appealing - it almost looks like a take down carnival sign. Can't wait to read more.

Re: Ooh la la, our trip to Disneyland Paris updated day 4
So glad to see you're writing again Karen - I'm glad my nagging paid off over the weekend! Sorry you didn't get to experience the Blue Lagoon, but glad you finally found somewhere to eat - I did think you'd end up starving at one point.
From your photos, I'm really disappointed that Alice's Curious Labyrinth was shut when we were in DLP. We'll definitely have to give it a go on a return trip one day.
