I thought we were going to WDW.... but this is Disneyland - Page 6 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Thanks for all the pixies. His CT scan was clear. When I get back he will have another type of scan just to be sure. My brother's FIL died of lung cancer 2 years ago and he had a clear CT scan. It was picked up with a PET scan. That is what my father will have just to make sure everything is clear, and give my brother peace of mind.
In the mean time... only 2 more days to go. Just made some ressies for our dinning. You will have to wait and see where we actually end up. The packing has begun as well as the baking and gathering of food items. Since we have a studio. I am bringng some foods to microwave and keep in the fridge. I am excited to stay at the Villas at the GCH. I only hope it can top our stay at the Disneyland Hotel.
Glad to hear the good news about your dad and hope the PET is clear as well.
From the photos I've seen the villas are beautiful. I'm sure you'll have a great time. Can't wait to hear where you'll be eating (aside from your own good stuff in the villa)!
Glad to hear the first scan came back clear...hopefully the PET will be the same!
Have a great time this weekend! I wish I could stop by for a quick visit, but I'll be honest...after my super long day tomorrow and the forecast temps for this weekend, I really doubt I'll be leaving my house on Sunday. Enjoy the villa!

Update Day 1 Do we ever get our room?
We left early at 5 am, arriving just before 6am. Dropped off the bags and went to park the car in a H/C spot. After check in, we got our room keys and headed over to the DCA entrance for early entry.
We had a fun morning at DCA and then over to Disneyland. They had a preview of Frankenweenie playing in the Muppetvision theater and it was very cute. Jessica said she wants to see it when it comes out (side note... we saw it today). I love Haunted Mansion Holiday so that was a must do. We went over to the carnival... only went once. It was cute, but didn't hold our interest.
It was very hot outside with another heat wave and I was hoping our room would be ready early so we could go swimming. We headed back to the hotel and I checked at the front desk and they told me it could be 4:30 or 5:00 before I got a room. I asked if they could put a rush on it and they said they would try. That was about 2:30pm.
We were beat and I felt jittery and knew my sugar was getting low, so we went to Whitewater snacks for a late lunch. It was nice and cool in there and that helped. Our lunch finally came and while we were eating I got my text.... the room was ready... whoooohooo.
Next: Sharps container troubles... will we ever get out of the room???
Yay, you're there! Sorry it was so hot. I've been watching the temps there and it's been crazy! Sounds like a great day, except for the room not being ready until so late. Don't like the teaser.... such a long wait to get into the room and now, because of sharps disposal, I gather, you can't leave??

Wow.... what a delay. It was just as well that I was not able to make the meet at WDW with my Icot group. Two weeks ago my back went out. I couldn't move. I was feeling like I was being tasered in the spine with a taser gun. That was the same thing that happened prior to me having back surgery in 2007. Friday, I called the doctor (he is not in on Friday's) to make an appt for Monday. Saturday, I was in so much pain that I ended up at the ER to get some pain relief. Too bad that shot only lasted about 5 hours. I was sent home with an Rx for tylenol and codeine. Monday, I went to the doctor and he ordered an MRI. I was finally able to get into an open MRI on Thursday last week. The results came back that there are no changes, just the same arthritis. I still will be keeping my appointment with my neurosurgeon on 11/14. Something was causing, something to be hitting a nerve in the spine. I want to know what is going on. In the mean time. I am glad to know there is not any new cysts in the spinal column like before.

When I last left off, I was waiting for my sharps container to be delivered. Housekeeping brought one up for me..... but it was full of used syringes and needles.... UH... NO. I told them I wanted a new container. I called down to the front desk to let them know and they were horrified. They were doing everything in their power to keep me happy. They kept calling to see if a new container had been brought up. They asked what our favorite character was. Jessica likes Stitch so I said Stitch. The lead of the hotel guest services showed up at our room with a Stitch pillow pet. WOW. She also had an envelope with hand written fastpasses. That was so nice of her to do.
Housekeeping finally made it up with a new container and we were on our way out. We were heading over to Disneyland and going to see Fantasmic. Since it was Sunday, it would be the only chance to see it since they are not on summer hours anymore.
We got back to the room late and it felt so good to get into bed. The bed is very comfortable and soon we were asleep.

Sorry about your back, Marci. Acute back pain is the worst--it hurts to do anything, even breathe. I hope they can figure out what caused that intense pain.
I'm glad the hotel gave you some perks, but that mistake with the sharps container should never have happened! I just browsed through your photobucket site. There are some great photos! Of course I love the ones of Jessica with Mickey Bear, but my favorite is the two of you with the Marie plush/scarf!
