I'm going to Disneyland! with 50 teenagers...what? PTR - Page 6 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

I know when we arrive in DL with a group of teenagers and 4 chaperones and a nervous teacher I will not get much shopping done until after they go home so I wanted something to help the magic on our first day or two so I just ordered from the Disney store online a few shirts.
This one is for DD it says "Shoes speak louder than words" I think she will really like it not only because of the Disney reference but she loves shoes. I think she already owns more than 20 pairs of shoes!
This one is for me . I like the saying "You are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think"
And the 3rd one we could fight over, I like it and I think DD will too. It says
Never underestimate the power of doing nothing" which DD tries as much as possible and I need to remind myself to take breaks, relax, and not be doing 12 things at once!
I can't wait till they get here, I will probably put them in the suitcases without telling DD until time to pack.
Funny but my mom looked at the Winnie the Pooh & Friends one & the Eeyore one too. We opted to wait til our next coupon bc money being so tight. Congrats on your luggage & new clothing purchases.
Your luggage and the shirts are so cute. Great buys, too!
I'm really happy I got such deals, the shirts were on sale too

Well, I always get at least 1 or 2 shirts and since they were on sale at a price I'd never get in the parks I am happy with them but the money came out of our trip budget so less to spend in the parks.
Nice discoveries on especially the luggage, which is the most important! ..... and the t-shirts as well! The trip is coming along well!

I'm planning on calling dining services today to make reservations for Plaza Inn for DD & I Saturday and finding out about WOC meal substitutions for DD. If they will accommodate us then I will make reservations for Friday at Wine Country T.
I'll let you know how that goes. Also official hours were posted today and longer than touring plans was predicting, DL hours are 8AM - 11PM and CA is 8AM to 9PM and there are 2 showings of Paint the Night so I'm looking forward to seeing it more than once because everyone that's seen it says it's wonderful.
I emailed the choir teacher yesterday suggesting telling students the bed checks would be random and about the masking tape on part of hotel doors that other PP'ers suggested and teacher loved both suggestions.
DD and I watched the 60th Disneyland special that was on last Sunday and both of us ended up teary eyed. We were inspired to start watching Disney films pre-trip, especially ones that have rides in DL and CA. So far this is my list I'm thinking about; I believe we'll be able to fit in 13 or so...any major ones I've forgetten that you can think of?
The Little Mermaid
Monsters Inc.
Cars (first one)
Bug's Life
Alice in Wonderland
Pinocchio
Snow White
Peter Pan
Roger Rabbit
Maybe the first Pirates of the Carribean
I'm going to suggest a non-Disney movie that was one of the few movies allowed by Walt Disney to be shot on property. 40 pounds of Trouble is a Tony Curtis classic that is full of humor & rare glimpses into the classic Disneyland of yesteryear.

How , I will check into that movie. Thanks for the tip.

Great idea to watch Disney movies! You definitely must watch Cars, because it will greatly add to your appreciation of the amazing detail in Cars Land.

Friday we watched Snow White and Saturday we watched Pinocco and found there are so many little details that I had forgotten.
I have been watching plane tickets trying to get a deal and they keep on rising in prices higher and higher so I figured I better get one quick before I couldn't afford to fly back since DD and I are coming back on our own we didn't get return tickets from the travel agent so I had to arrange them myself. Prices were already up to $161 each and when I originally looked they were around $100. I wish I could fly back Monday rather than Sunday because price drop to below $100 but DD has both high school and college classes and I cannot take a personal day after spring break. I was trying to figure out a way to get a cheaper ticket and it hit me that both DD and I have some airline miles we haven't used. I checked into using all miles but we didn't have enough for next I check using part miles and paying some which actually we both have enough to use part of our miles there was only $80 cash for the ticket so that's what I did and am very happy to have only paid $80 a piece.
Of course I then checked where the airport was that gave us this deal only to find out that it's about 1 hours and 40 minutes from Disneyland and our flight takes off at 7AM!
I looked up transportation and super shuttle will take us for $35 each and even with that I will still is less money than then the current price of tickets. The worst part is we've being picked up at 4:05AM
