Me, Muffin, Katie, Megan, the Adlers and Various Resorts!, - Page 6 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Another great day for you girls!
Your meal at CRT looked yummy! The dessert party looked great as well!
Some day I hope to talk jeff into doing that again. We did it once, a few years ago but since then the price has gone up substantially, and it's hard to justify paying that much for desserts...3/4 of which I can't eat. BUT, i know the view can't be beat, so one of these days I'm going to insist that we do it! Maybe next year for my 60th birthday! Sounds like a plan, doesn't it?
It was a wonderful day, Donna!! Honestly, I didn’t eat that much of the dessert either. What I tasted was delicious but I would do it again just for that view!!

It was a perfect day, Dave! Our meal at the Castle was really good and the dessert party was phenomenal!!

Ok, so there are macarons at the Happily Ever After dessert party? Oh my goodness, how did I not know that? I suspect it's all sold out now for our dates in January, but I may just have to have a look now...
Boy, the Magic Kingdom was really crowded this day, but glad to see that you three still had a magical day. Both dinner at CRT and the dessert party looked scrumptious.
Wait, did you have a costume change or is it a magic Haunted Mansion shirt that changes along the way!?
Dessert looked yummy! And that was a good view. We had a similar view from where we sat.

You have an excellent eye, Colleen!! I got a snag in my HM top and I just could not walk around with it so I bought a new one!! . The view was amazing as I’m sure yours was!! I loved that show!!!!
This morning started out a little rough. I woke up at my usual 6:00 AM and went for a jog. Meg and I were going to start our day at the Garden Grill with an 8:50 AM ADR. Soooooooooooo..........
When I got back to the Springhill Suites, I grabbed some coffee in the lobby and ran into Katie. I asked if Megan was up and Katie said that she was. I told Katie to have Megan text me when she was ready and went up to get a shower. It was around 8:00 at this point and I still hadn’t heard from Megan, so I texted her. She didn’t answer me back and Katie and Muffin had already left for the show. I knocked on their door and Megan was still getting ready! I told her to meet me downstairs and she finally came down at 8:30 AM. So, remember when I said that the girls were not morning people?
Megan especially has no sense of urgency when it comes to time. When Meg got downstairs, I was in a panic about our ADR and she just didn’t understand the system at WDW. I tried so hard to bite my tongue, but I just couldn’t do it and I blurted out, “If we don’t make our breakfast reservation, we are going to be charged for not being there.” Megan felt terrible and immediately offered to give me 20 bucks. Of course I declined and told her that I was just making a point but then I felt terrible too. . Then I gave her a big hug and said that I was sorry and that if we didn’t make it, we didn’t make it. We started talking about other things and it took a few minutes, but all was well by the time our Lyft arrived.
Well, after all of that, it turned out that we were fine. We arrived at the Garden Grill around 9:20 AM and the hostess told us it would not be a problem! We were seated almost immediately and this turned out to be such a fun breakfast!
Our waitress immediately wished Megan a happy birthday and had all of the tables around us sing to her!! She was quite embarrassed but also happy!! . We got to see al of the characters and although breakfast isn’t the greatest here, the cinnamon rolls rock, we had great interactions and the service was phenomenal!!
As most of you know, breakfast is served family style. We were given juice and coffee, fruit and the cinnamon rolls right away and then a big skillet of bacon, sausage, scrambled eggs and biscuits.
When the waitress presented the bill, she enclosed two FP’s for Turtle Talk with Crush and a birthday card signed by Mickey, Pluto, Chip and Dale!! She also brought Megan a slice of cake with a candle. Meg was overwhelmed and it was so sweet!!
We had a FP for Soarin’ and it was perfect timing when we finished breakfast, so we headed downstairs. We both loved this ride and I honestly would be happy to ride it multiple times but when we got off, the standby line was already up to 90 minutes!!
After hang gliding around the World, it was just about time to meet up with Colleen and I was so excited to do so!! We made our way over to the Pixar Short Film Festival area and shortly after, Colleen, Mike and Kelsey showed up. Hugs and introductions were exchanged and we all headed into the theater.
I love this attraction and I was so happy to see two shorts that I hadn’t previously. Megan and I thoroughly enjoyed spending this time with Colleen, Mike and Kelsey and for allowing us in the special seats, Colleen!! It was a pleasure to meet you all!!
Coming up: The Food and Wine Festival and Boyz 2 Men!

Glad you were able to make it to the GG for breakfast. Looked like a good breakfast. Good time on Soarin' and even some PP meets!

Wow, I had no idea your day started off so rocky! Glad it improved. I was so excited about getting to meet up with you in person! As with many PP, I felt like I already knew you, but it was so great to REALLY meet you!
After a bumpy start, this day is taking off quite well. See you with Colleen made me sad again that I missed out on seeing you all the day before.

Thank you so much, Marnie! We were having a ball!!
When we were done, we headed our separate ways, with Meg and I going over to World Showcase for some F&WF!! It was indeed crowded, but we managed to get to a few of the booths that we wanted to without standing in very long lines!
We first went to the Festival center:
There were the most beautiful displays there and all were made of chocolate!!! What kind of crazy talent does it take to do this stuff?!:
We started out in Mexico:
We did some shopping and then went to my favorite margarita spot in WDW!!!
We got an Apple firecracker margarita to split:
It was delicious!!!!!
I absolutely adore Mexico!!! I love the night look. I love the pyramid. I love the Marketplace area. I love La Cava. I love the boat ride. Fabulous pavilion!!!!
Next we went to China where we hooked up with Colleen, Mike and Kelsey again briefly! These guys are awesome peeps and you guys should all try to meet them!!!
Megan and I next went to Spain, where we got:
Traditional Spanish Paella
A wine flight to share consisting of:
Rafael Palacios Bolo Godello, Bodegas y Vinedos Artaza Carnacha Rosado and cas Castillo Monastrell
This was muy delicioso!!!
We also got:
Seafood salad with shrimp, bay scallops and mussels
We shared the dishes here as well and both were a hit!!
Next we stopped at Paris for a Grand Mariner slushee, which was fabulous!
We loved Paris!!!
Next we went to England. Megan is a huge Beatles fan and we had a ball shopping here!!
Then we hit up Canada and split the filet and got a glass of wine to share. We really wanted the ice wine but they were out, so we wound up getting the red wine:
Fielding Estate Red Conception. It was actually perfect with the filet!
Our last booth and probably our favorite was Hawaii!!! We got the Kahlua Pork Slider and the Pineapple wine and we were in heaven!!!!! Our absolute best tasting of the Festival, hands down!!!!:
We still had some time before dinner, so we walked the rest of World Showcase and just went window shopping!! It was so much fun!! We made our way over to Italy and Via Napoli. I was very excited to try this place and we both loved it!!!! It is such a pretty restaurant and the food was melt in your mouth delicious!!!
We were going to each order a veggie and prosciutto pizza but our wonderful waiter told us that we should instead order a large half and half pizza and that worked out beautifully!! I ate the prosciutto half and Megan ate the veggie half.
This was one of our favorite and also cheapest meals of the trip!! I am telling you guys, I have been to Italy and this stuff is the real deal!!
After dinner, we needed to walk off some of this delicious meal so we took another hike all the way around World Showcase before going to the Boyz 2 Men concert.
We arrived back to America and were escorted to our reserved seats for the concert, which were awesome!! We so enjoyed this concert and we face timed Adrienne, who loves this group!
These guys are still amazing and have so much energy!!!
After our long but amazing day, we were absolutely exhausted!!!! Megan’s trip was already coming to an end, all too soon, but I really felt like she had a good taste of WDW and I know she loved Discovery Cove!!
We rode Spaceship Earth on the way out of the Park and then caught a Lyft back to the Springhill Suites and seriously had a hard time keeping our eyes open on the journey back. When we arrived back at the hotel, Megan gave me a huge hug and told me that it was the best birthday she had ever had!
I would not see her tomorrow because I had an early tour and she and Katie had a noonish flight home. I cannot tell you guys how much pleasure I had spending time with the two of those guys!!!!
I was so tired but knew I had to pack up my things because I was getting up bright and early tomorrow as my Sense of Africa tour was at 7 AM at AKL. Muffin was still out with his friends as they had some kind of party for the show vendors tonight. I offered to take his stuff with me in the morning but he said not to worry about it since he didn’t have to check out until noon tomorrow. So I got my stuff all packed and was barely able to brush my teeth and get my jammies on before I fell into bed! Muffin said he got in around 11 PM but I didn’t even hear him because I was fast asleep!!
Steps today: 23,351
Tomorrow: My absolute favorite tour ever!!!!
